    They look like cool lights, one observation, by blacking off the end panel opposite the weir, you are cutting out a great view of down the length of the tank

      Thx man, yes have thought about the blacked out end several times. I was thinking it looks more balanced with it since the right side is blacked out. The good news is that it’s not painted or a permanent mod so I can easily change my mind and pull it off in less than 3 seconds. May do just that once I see how it looks with water in it.
      Thx for the feedback. 👍 🤙

    Any idea how much par those Vitamini strips add? Also, so they fill in some shadows from the sides that you notice?

    • @ReefStash
      @ReefStash  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They do fill in some shadows but I sort of like shadows, I think it looks more natural. I haven’t taken any PAR readings on the Blaze or the Vitamini yet. It’s on my list of things to do for sure though.

    • @tylerjaax4917
      @tylerjaax4917 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have mostly LPS, I agree some shadows are fun! But sps will make shadows under them over time. I ordered a Vitamini to go with my current AI Hydras to help fill in under them to prevent die off.

    I have the Illumagic Blaze 120 on my Marine X 110.4 and using the ghost legs to. I was debating on getting the the vitaminis but since I run the light at 100% and the Par at the top of my rock is around 415, the Vitaminis would add 150 par each.

    • @ReefStash
      @ReefStash  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Love these lights! 🔥 I’ll just be to running the vitaminis outside the lighting schedule for the blues only. They really don’t add anything to the already powerful Blaze X.

    • @floridas281
      @floridas281 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I started with the blaze 60 and 2 vitaminis on my waterbox 45.2… great lights but my aquascape was built to high to the light. Now I have about 16-17 inches before the first acro and the light is still throwing 415+ par! I also bought the rear mounting arms but I’m to nervous to mount the light on the back of the tank because the light is so heavy and that would put way to much stress on the glass. I also run a Blaze mini on my 10 gal… these grow acros like crazy. You’ll be very happy.

    • @ReefStash
      @ReefStash  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@floridas281 awesome feedback… super stoked that I went with these lights. I’m with you on the rear mounting arms… these fixtures are heavy. I also mentioned that in the vid to my wife.

    • @floridas281
      @floridas281 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Illumagic also has the rail mount… it’s only available in Australia but if you contact Daula they will send you one. For the vitaminis they have telescopic mounts that angle out. I’ve been trying to get these for months. I just don’t want to pay for international shipping. Unique Corals is waiting for them to be released in the USA.

    Dude, I love your setup except for one thing and please don't get edgy when I ask this because I haven't seen all you videos yet, I just stumbled across your channel and I am gonna subscribe to your channel, but here it is. Why did you buy a peninsula tank only to set it up like a standard aquarium? A peninsula tank is meant for you to see three sides, not one, so I am having a hard time trying to figure this out. Like I said, maybe I need to watch more of your videos but to me it makes as much sense as buying a non-alcoholic beer, like what's the point. Specially if you are gonna black out the one side that is the whole real reason of having a peninsula tank.

    • @ReefStash
      @ReefStash  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Robert thanks for subscribing and for taking the time to comment. No offense taken… there is a method to my madness.. I promise. 😜 So I went with a Peninsula style tank in order to achieve the LED background look that I was going for which required no equipment on the back glass such as the overflow and a clear back glass to install the frosted vinyl. A standard tank would have had an overflow on the back glass and had a black background. The LED background was my main feature in achieving my overall tank vision.
      Here’s the video of the background LED light install: th-cam.com/video/Ih9H1HSS5QQ/w-d-xo.html
      View my shorts feed to see how the tank looks now. You’ll notice I took off the black vinyl that I installed on the left pane. My original thought was to have a balanced look to match the blacked out right side… eventually my wife and viewers talked me into removing that left side to open up the tank and have another viewing pane. 😉 🏆
      I’m rarely offended by feedback on social media and my only goal is to share what works for me, what I’m doing and hopefully inspire others with their own builds. I’m always happy to share and love helping others.

      @@ReefStash gotcha. I just saw the video with the "left" side aka end pane open, looks great. I currently have a 110 gallon display tank, with a 40 gallon Proclear acuatics sump, I also have in a stand next to my display tank a 45 gallon rimless tank that I am using as a refugium right now. I have had the set up for two years now and it is going just ok. Having issues with nitrates and my ph wants to stay in the 7.8 to 8.0 range. Thinking about two options, either an airline pulling air from outside of my apartment to my protein skimmer or getting a CO2 scrubber. If I go the scrubber route, I will probably build it myself. I like to do a bunch of diy stuff. Diy is the whole reason I got into the hobby. Right now I am doing a diy reef controller run off of a raspberry pi4. Ok really like the idea of having a computer control all aspects of my tank except for of course the feeding, when my two tangs come up and eat food right out of my hand I really enjoy that. But the controller as of today controls my temp and ato. I am working on it controlling my no lights, dosing, and ph. My lights are the Reef breeder Photon 48. Very powerful lights. Corals don't do so well in my tank right now except for leathers and my bounce mushrooms, palas. Gotta get my nitrates down a bit before anything else can survive there. Thing I have learned is consistency is the big thing, if you have high nitrates and corals surviving, better not improve the water conditions too much or you'll pee off the corals you do have. My bounce mushrooms are doing great, started with two now I have ten and they were expensive. I bought them so long ago that I forget what kind they are but I know they were 50 bucks a head and that was at a discount. I have 8 black widow nems, started out with just two. Love my tank but I made the mistake of putting it in my bedroom so you can imagine the noise it makes, but I sleep well with it. My girl loves it too, just hates the noise. I tell you this though, when ever something is not right she knows it by the sound the tank makes lol.
