I guess Bobo's family also did not know Tony Atlas. No one who knows Tony Atlas would ask him to give a speech.

BoBo was a major star in the WWWF in the late 60's and beyond. He was the United States Heavyweight Champion for a few years. BoBo was a headliner over Bruno Sammartino in many places even though Bruno was champ. ......particularly Washington DC where there was a large black populace.

30 years in the wrestling business. And it’s Bozo Brassiere- Bobo to Jim Cornette, circa 1980
Cornette told a story about being in the locker room area with Bobo when Jim was a photographer, and a security guard called Bobo “Bozo Brassiere”. The guard apparently thought it was his name.

After a show in Alexandria, Virginia, my dad & I drove Bobo to the DC Union Station. Bobo sat in the backseat, me turned in the passenger seat turned facing him & talking. He couldn't have been nicer, putting up with an 11 year old kid

A real gentleman who was also a friend of Art Thomas who was a family friend when he wrestled for Frank Tunney in Toronto. He even came to dinner once with Art, and it was quite a thrill for me as a young wrestling fan.

George didn't wrestler for Big Time. Every summer in the late 60's-70's he would head to the WWWF and be a major headliner. He was a legendary athletic coach in Michigan and he didn't want identity known. In fact, Jim Meyers is in the Michigan High School Coaches Hall of Fame. Coached football and wrestling. Played briefly for the Boston Patriots football team in the ole AFL. Has a Masters degree from Michigan State. Totally opposite of his character!
