And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector." My brother, which Church should one go to in a situation like this? Why does Christ state that the Church is the final authority in adjudication of human conflicts if there is no visible Church? Why would Jesus even mention founding a Church, "upon this rock" if no earthly Church was meant to exist? There is one Church, founded by Jesus, and it is the Catholic Church. There aren't meant to be other denominations because how could a methodist bring his Baptist friend, with whom he's in conflict, in front of his methodist "church"? The Baptist would simply say, "This methodist church has no authority over me because I'm Baptist." Do you see why there can only be one Church?
