Hi Tom Some good and very valid questions! Ill try and answer them all as best i can. So i do 200 miles a week to and from work and about 20-30 miles at the weekend socially. My average mpg if i don't reset the mpg reading is somewhere between 35 and 50- nearer 40 most of the time. If i am on a motorway i will get 50+ mpg according to the computer and needle. I have a full service history - 7 years BMW and a few years at various reputable garages. I am the third owner of this car was a lady before me according to the v5c doc. So since i took ownership i have had the breaks changed (at a garage), the crank case breather( i did this myself, easy peasy, for new vortex stye, the one i pulled out was so clogged up it was causing oil to run back into the cinder and produce blue smoke when you floor it, i guess that had never been changed!) sorted the blue smoke issue :). I cleaned out the EGR valve and part of the air intake manifold( she can now breath properly). As for wishbones i do believe that the compacts were not prone to developing a fault, correct me if I'm wrong but it was the saloons and coupe models that that issue affected. When i got it it did have the notorious airbag light on! My mate has a fault reader and soon reset it. No other electrical issues, everything works 100%. The turbo kicks in as it should.. I can leave most boy racers at the lights if i choose to do so! The car pulls like a gooden! It is smooth through the gears with no jolts or hesitation all the way round the clock. It will do 137mph according to the showroom specs. (Ive never been that fast in it) Its got a few slight bumper scuffs which are low down and you can only see them if you are looking for them. No dents! No rust! Tyres are good but rear ones wear faster being a RWD car. The alloys have a few scuffs from previous owners but hey its 10 years old!! I clean it every week which helps prevent rust and preserve the paint. The steering is a bit heavy if your not used to the E46 range, again the car is 10 years old. The climate control is great so is the 6cd changer. So im in the Slough area if you would like to come and take a look if you are thinking of buying one yourself. Regards Darren

+Daniel Moss the "msport" trim has a lowered suspension as well as the rounded bumpers, sports seats and sports steering wheel etc. My one in the video is not msport but had original msport wheels on from the factory I do believe. I'm not sure I like the bumpers on the msport compact myself!
here Dan. I just bought one last week. the 320 td sport.. there is "m" badges all over it. it has full leather and black ceiling inside and all. just curious if it is really m sport or the guy just stuck the badges on it lol. it doesn't say m sport on the tax book. just sport🤔

Hi bro! I the 1.8 petrol version same year because they're so old everything will fail! Door locks boot lock.ABS remote sensor. Disc stacker at the back! You name it! It will Fail.but! It's a nice Car to Drive. I've got the manual version im getting 40 to the gallon.
My 53 plate has done 168,000 miles still starts everytime & i get more than your 49mpg probably because its a manual? i think it was on 57mpg last time i checked & with red diesel being at 67p a litre i would say my car is pretty cheap to run :) yeah i love my car & its cheap to run & hasn't give me any problems.
Looking to buy a 3series compact the 316-320 petrol seem to be more popular on the used market. I would love to find a decent diesel though. Is there anything I should watch for? Any thing important to test when it comes to the test drive or viewing? I'm not in a rush and it'll probably be a good 3/5 months yet unless I spot something really good.
Obviously don't get a 4 cylinder petrol (316,318) they are seriously under powered! Get either the 2.0 turbo diesel or the 325ti petrol. On the diesel look out for white smoke when accelerating, turbo issues. On the petrol there are vanos issues and fuel supply issues on cars that are not maintained regularly. There are lots of things that can be sorted via DIY following advise from various forums and TH-cam channels. You will learn allot about how your car works through preventative maintenance on your car. Good luck :) we hope to hear back. P.s I miss you car

Yeah they are msport alloys but allot of the e46 range came with msport alloys as standard back then. Yeah great mpg and quick car!! Hi there, I always wanted the 325ti I bet it goes like shit off a shovel! Got a 325 saloon now. I sold this car about a year ago but would love one again. Your M54 is same engine as I have in my saloon. I get about 22-25 mpg around town and about 35-40mpg on a motorway run. To get 18mpg you must be hacking it lol.either that or you got a problem as the 320ti is a lighter car than the saloon/coupe...
THis is an amazing car, I only wish they made it in 4 door hatch/compact configuration, like the Opel astra and similar cars, they could implement a hidden read door handle to maintain the sport look like cars like Seat, Honda and Alfa romeo have. The hatch style boot that is integrated and opens along with the rear window is very practical

adrian cuesta the E46 316ti is the most reliable BMW ever. I had no problems, except then a pesky mechanic put the wrong grade of oil, which resulted coolant contamination because the oil cooler burst internally.
Hi mate, I paid about 3000 for it but that was a few years ago now. And it was in excellent condition with only 83,000 miles on it. One thing I will say is change the crank case oil breather if ur getting a diesel model. I miss this car :(
Hello everyone!. Where I can find the antenna diversity card? My car is an E46 318tds compact 2004 and my command key stopped working... Is not problem of the battery because happens the same with the second key... Some weeks before this problem , one fusible burned 2 times and did it stop working the window and central lock and key command. I suspect that it burned after I closed the bag door! But I fixed just after change the fusible. But now, just the key command is not working... I suspect that it could be the diversity antena. But almost dismount my car to find where is it... Someone there knows where I find it? Do you know what could be?
If they are copied MP3 CDs it won't play them- as the changer/stereo can't read them. If it won't play normal music CDs then the changer is fucked possibly? Buy a new one £20 on eBay.
A little bit- same car just different engine to state the obvious- I wouldn't buy the 316ti it's a 1.8 that feels slow in comparison to other cars of the same size engine. I have a 320i 2.2 litre now and it's a beast!
