Isn't it a curious thing that billions of people globally decry the tragedy in Gaza, yet governments everywhere (including the Vatican!) are much less vocal about the blatant, unapologetic butchery there? Sadly, tragically, and ironically, as a 75-year -old American veteran, I have become more wary of my own government's actions and intentions on the world stage than anyone else's!

The Pope has spoken against the occupation for years, and recently against this genocide. But you’re 100% right on the rest of your comment.

I got into trouble as a very young child at primary school- my punishment was to do a book report on Helen Keller- as a nerdy child- this was like manna from heaven… She was an extraordinary human being as was the teacher who recognized her humanity through all of that darkness and silence. Phenomenal women.

To avoid another global conflict, it is crucial to examine and possibly adjust US foreign policy. A potential nuclear war looms on the horizon. The possibility of a nuclear war hangs ominously in the balance. The US is the only country whose foreign policy could have as destructive an impact as a full-scale nuclear war. Don't push Russia. The outcome won't be pleasant. Within the realm of global politics, the US stands out as the sole nation whose foreign policy has the potential to yield consequences that are a full-scale nuclear war. The United States' exaggerated belief in its military dominance, built on questionable foundations, has escalated global tensions to the brink of an all-out war. Over the last three decades, the heightened infallibility of policymaking has increased the risk of a catastrophic mistake leading to a momentous and potentially apocalyptic war.
The expansion of NATO was one of the many Western plots to undermine Russia's stability. The goal of Western conspiracies at the turn of the century was to destabilize Russia. Should the West succeed in deposing Putin, it would plunge Russia into a Yugoslavian-like situation. Putin is the only thing standing between Russia and this outcome. As proxy Ukraine heads to an all-out defeat, NATO is becoming more directly involved in Ukraine as an actual participant. Yes, now Ukraine is not a NATO proxy but an active participant. Underestimating Russia in terms of NATO expansion and Ukraine policy constitutes a disastrous error that has proven to be a catastrophic mistake. Russia and China have both evolved beyond the US's reach. Russia and China have reached a level of complexity that defies simple categorization in today's geopolitical landscape.
China and Russia have progressed to the point where dominance is no longer feasible or nearly impossible. A false show of confidence in their strength is no longer marketable for those who have emerged as significant superpowers. In the old days, bluffs and deceptions no longer interested these established powers, who now exude unwavering confidence as major superpowers. Throughout the history of its proxy wars, the US has consistently employed a strategy characterized by deception, dishonesty, and betrayal, and it is once again using this approach in Ukraine. Ukraine bears the brunt of the consequences. This is devastation; it had a profound and tragic impact on the lives of Ukrainians. This demonstration shows a consistent lack of commitment, apparent betrayal, and a continuous and unchanged violation of obligation, spanning from Vietnam to Afghanistan and now to Ukraine.
As a nuclear conflict looms precariously in the balance, the world is moving closer to the brink of catastrophic nuclear warfare, which has severe global repercussions that extend beyond China, Russia, and the USA. When it comes to interacting with other superpowers, the need for increased assurance can sometimes have unintended consequences. At this moment, the conflicts are severe and pressing. Indeed, Russia has made it clear that it does not intend to start conflicts or increase tensions. Russia has expressed its willingness to de-escalate the situation with NATO, and they have also committed to not expanding further in the region.
Europe has lost all its ability to influence geopolitical advantage around the globe. What remains of its former greatness on the world stage is subservience to US foreign policy. No one counts Europe anymore. Emmanuel Macron, the president of France, stated his commitment to preventing Russia from winning the war. Macron ranks second in Europe in terms of buffoon status, following Zelensky. He merely elicits amusement from him. Emmanuel Macron may be a clown, but he is a lot more dangerous than other politicians in Europe. Regrettably, the majority of subservient leaders in Europe are conventional and devoid of tactical rigor.
Russia demonstrated its overwhelming military prowess to deter miscalculation or aggression, effectively conveying a clear warning to its opponent. This should be a clear reminder to refrain from underestimating or provoking Russia. US foreign policy is critical if it wants to avoid the next global war. Only the United States of America can stop an apocalyptic global war from happening if it adapts and adjusts its misguided power postures. They must carefully consider and adjust their avoidance potential; no one can prevent it except the US itself.

Strange. Professor Horne is a expert on African geopolitics but doesn't seem to do much coverage on the genocide currently underway in Sudan and Congo.

overly circuitous, imbued with a kind of sneering manner and attitude, excessively abstract with few details or specific argumentation, stocked with cliche ideas and meaningless labels "right" "left" etc. polemical rather than informative. intolerable after ten minutes
