HH has such a sweet, thick, round attack. What really blows me away is the accuracy and control in his very soft entries. He has just as much tone and body to the sound in his soft notes as he does his loud ones.

ALSO, HAKAN STUDIED WITH PIERRE THIBAUD AT THE PARIS CONSERVATOIRE WHICH IS THE EPICENTRE FOR THESE STUDIES WHICH ARE A RITE OF PASSAGE FOR ANY SERIOUS PLAYER. ASSUMING THAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A 'SLIP-OF-THE-THUMB', WE CAN IGNORE THE ANONYMOUS NAYSAYERS. IN FACT, EVEN IF IT WAS INTENTIONAL WE CAN STILL IGNORE ANONYMOUS PEOPLE THAT CLEARLY DON'T UNDERSTAND THE POINT OF WHY HAKAN IS DOING THIS AND JUST HOW INCREDIBLE YOU HAVE TO BE TO PLAY THEM THIS WAY AT ALL (dare you to flame away but I also dare you to show yourselves). THANK-YOU BROTHER HAKAN FOR REMINDING US ALL OF THE IMPORTANCE OF LEGACY!!!
Agree 100% Jens. We mortals will toil and struggle with these Etudes our entire lives and rarely present even one in any way close to the standard as performed by Mr. Hardenberger in these videos.

Waking up Monday morning is a little like Christmas morning - much anticipation for opening up the next Charlier etude. Thank-You, Hakan, for your contribution to the music world and especially for spreading some joy during these tough times. Oh, btw, you missed the staccato in m. 22;)
Barry Hunt he’s playing Charlier’s Transcendental Etudes (No. 3 to be exact). You can find pdfs on most sheet music websites or probably the book if you wanted.

It’s so impressive that Håkan managed to play all the etudes in one recording session (judging by the outfit).
@Jackson Stradley it turns out he didn't play through them all. His outfits change periodically.
Same outfit for each one. Is he really such a god that he recorded many in one day??! Amazing.

If you have ever played Charliers' Etudes you know how difficult it is to make them sound musical. Truly a tour-de-force for trumpeters everywhere.
Fantastic to listen to this one so musically performed. And even on C-trumpet!? Think its hard enoiugh on a Bb trumpet :-)
Everything is outstanding ! But in my opinion the sound on the C trumpet, especially in the high notes is perfect ! 👏🏼
