The S/Lab line is particularly narrow as it’s actually built on a women’s last. That’s why the shoes are unisex. Happens to be what fits my foot perfectly! But some of the other models are much wider.
I appreciated the inclusion of mph and distances listed in miles as well as km. Saves me a bit of time and energy because I don’t need to convert it myself. I’m really enjoying this training series, keep it up.
Hi Jeff! This and the Namibia Race Series are such great content. The video quality is insane! So pumped for your next races. Good luck with your preparation!
Hi Jeff... love the series. I'm curious about your warm up and cool down stretches... I'm not great at doing a warm up before hand and I see you and Audree doing some here before your long run. Would love to see you go over it in the future :)
Im doing hiking training and oddly my schedule sounds similar to yours include Monday rest day, walking after work 4 miles and 1 max it (9+miles) out day on the weekend. And monthly massages.
Awesome video! Love that you cover so many aspects of running and training, i.e routes, gear, nutrition, and perceived effort/fatigue. Keep up the videos!!
I’m definitely gonna borrow that Burnaby lake route you ran. I’ve been curious how to reach Burnaby mountain from the lake for a few weeks now! Also I’d love to hear more on the Phantasm! It’s such a slick looking shoe!
The Pulsar was my go to in 2021. Amazing shoe, ran a 50k with no issue, only downside was the lug depth. Which is being addressed with the Pulsar SG. Waiting patiently for the release of the SG and Pulsar Trail Pro. Great vid, thanks Jeff.
Really like this series! Thanks for sharing! Was wondering how you and your coach plan out the long run progression week to week? I was surprised to see your rest week included back-to-back long runs. Also surprised to see a jump from 3h30min to 4h30min in just one week for the long run. Would love to hear more on how you ensure you build well without doing too much too fast.
I thought you were holding up an eyeshadow pallet at the beginning of the video and I thought “okay, Jeff is going to do something different today.” But I wasn’t going to click off. 😂👍
Hi Jeff, I have been living in West End for the last month and your new training videos are an amazing way to find out about where to run in Greater Vancouver area. I ran 30k on Sunday to Seymour Dam and back and plan to run near Burnaby mountain in the next couple of weeks. Thank you for the great content and course suggestions. Will make sure to say hi if I see you out there:) Have a great day!
I really enjoy all of your videos and I like the approach you take. I'm glad that you started the training diaries for this year. I was wondering if, in a future episode, you could mention your weekly nutrition, not just your running nutrition. How do you keep up a healthy calorie intake?
Hi Jeff, I really appreciate this series and all the other videos you've done! I picked up running recently and these videos have been great for both motivation and education! I was curious if you could talk a bit sometime about some of the non-physical aspects to training. Specifically, do you ever struggle with motivation to follow your training plan and how do you deal with that? Also, how do you manage other things in life with your training plan, like travel or other weekend activities that might interfere with your key workouts? Thanks in advance! :)
Once again thank you for sharing. Loved hearing about the adjustment of when to doing your strength training sessions. You mentioned the stiffness early on your Sunday run. What do you normally do to recover quickly to get you to your back to back long runs? And what would you do ideally for the same? I do a lot of back to back longs and looking to optimize recovery between runs.
Have you tried Frog Fuel? As a person sensitive to sugar my Dr. recommend running fuels with some protein. Also I'm sure I'm not the only one that would love to see and hear more from your wife!
what are your favorite types of wellness therapies (ie massage, acupuncture, compression, tapes, pemf, etc etc etc) and how do you work them into your schedule? are some good for before a race or training session, and others better for after?
Great week of training! The Pulsar shoes seem like a great and fun trail shoe... too bad you couldn't get the new Pulsar SG shoes. Have you discussed fueling (food and drink for a long run and between runs)?
Sad to see Salomon shoes looking like Nike these days. Thought they would go the other route and cater to zero or low drop. Hoping they bring back the Sense PRO since it was the best shoe in the lineup!!!
Hi jeff question. What about nutrition stuff that helps your mind concentrate. Like gum or apples in my case. I can chew and apple for 20min or more and that takes my mind off when its getting hard.
Nice to get some insight into your training regimen. It seems like you aren't running a lot of volume (even counting hours instead of mileage) compared to a lot of other runners, how high do you peak before a 100 miler for example? I've been decently successful doing lower mileage for Ultra distances for the past few years since I started running but also being consistent and keeping myself off injuries. Thanks again for the video, always enjoyable.
Yea, my approach is a little different over these first few months in lead up to my stage race than it would be for a 100 miler. A little more quality over quantity.
@@JeffPelletier how much do you usually do building for a 100 miler, do you get in a few 100 mile weeks during your training blocks building up or are you a bit more conservative?
I focus more on time on feet but I generally would end up doing a couple of hundred mile weeks when training for a 100 miler. The month of UTMB, so in early August of this year, you’ll see Audree and I run about 110 miles as our biggest week of training. We’ll be fastpacking the route as our last big training weekend.
Hi Jeff and greetings from England. Great video as always. 👍🏻 I am a very average runner training for a trail 10k with goal time in mind. I'm following the Jeff Galloway Garmin plan over 14 weeks. I'm currently in my 7th week and the plan, so far, has put a lot of onus on increasing cadence which is something I've never taken too much notice of during previous training plans. I wondered do you place much importance on cadence and do you do any training to improve your cadence ? Best wishes Jeff.
Interesting question! I haven’t thought about cadence in quite a while, but maybe I can visit this along with other ideas around running form/economy in a future video.
Hey Jeff, you mentioned that your other shoes are Salomon Sense 4 Pro. I'm doing Grand Raid Pyrenees in August which is probably similar to UTMB terrain. I've just ordered some sense 4 Pro so looking forward to comparing them to the non pro and the Speedcross 4. I had planned to run in the speedcross but undecided yet. Which would you prefer and why?
Hey Mark, I’ve been running almost exclusively in the Sense Pro for years and love it for all around terrain. But unfortunately it’s being discontinued which is why I’m auditioning some possible replacements. The Speedcross, on the other hand, I’ve never worn. I find it doesn’t fit me properly, for one, as my heel lifts out a bit. It’s also too structured and padded for my taste. It’s frankly a very old design that they’ve been carrying over for years but doesn’t incorporate much of the newer innovations in shoe frisky that Salomon has become known for.
@@JeffPelletier I do a lot of steep fell running and the speedcross are great. It's typical that when you find a good shoe the manufacturer discontinues them and you have to search for a new favourite
Hah, I am pretty methodical. I run a video production agency, managing a team of 10. A big part of our success and how I’ve been able to free up so much of my time has been thanks to the systems and processes we’ve developed over the years. As they say, “how you do anything is how you do everything.” 😄
The miles at 5:37 should be 28.5!
Salomon S/Lab Phantasm: geni.us/OjQNd7
Salomon S/Lab Pulsar: geni.us/L9Vbcb
how would you say the Phantasm fit, specifically in the toe box and mid foot width? I've always found Saolmon to be a bit too narrow for my feet
The S/Lab line is particularly narrow as it’s actually built on a women’s last. That’s why the shoes are unisex. Happens to be what fits my foot perfectly! But some of the other models are much wider.
@@JeffPelletier Appreciate the info and quick response! Enjoying the training diaries.
I noticed you doing some dynamic stretching at 4:20. Could you tell us a little about your pre and post run routine?
Yeah would be nice to know ! Great inspiration for ultra runners @jeff !
As a rather new subscriber, I appreciate English videos with meters and kms. 😂
For all us non-Americans 😉
Review of new shoes? Yes, please...
I appreciated the inclusion of mph and distances listed in miles as well as km. Saves me a bit of time and energy because I don’t need to convert it myself. I’m really enjoying this training series, keep it up.

I love running trails in the mountains. Something about it is just calming
I love the new content. I currently run in Salomon SpeedPro's but what I really need is a review on hardshell jacket.
Selling yourself short on the KM to Miles conversion. 46 KM should be about 28.5 miles. Enjoyed the training talk.
Nice catch, thanks!
Good point about doing the tempo run before strength so it's not impacted.

Loving these training videos. Keep it up! Also so jealous of the green grass popping up in your videos. Still a sea of white up north!
Thanks! Yea, the snow melted a little earlier than usual here this year.
Excellent content, look forward to hearing more about your nutrition trials. Thanks....wish we had those nice Trails here in NH
You're killing it man, great work and great inspiration!
I would love a review of those Salomon shoes
youre a great ambassador; great content too

Hey - I couldn't help but notice the book shelves behind you. Got some book recommendations please? :)
I mostly read non-fiction. Are you in to any topics in particular?
Do you have any training tips for someone living on the Prairies and training to climb/run a mountain/lots of elevation?
Oh that’s a good question! I don’t personally have any experience with this, but I’ll see if I can get some tips from some coaching friends of mine.

Do you have any opinions on running barefoot or running in minimalist shoes?
Yea, that's a complicated subject. I'll see if I can address that in an upcoming video.
How the heck does one afford $180.00 for a pair of shoes?
I hear you. Despite what some people say, running is not a cheap sport.
