Taxi operators demand operating licences

  • Taxi operators in the Western Cape are calling on President Cyril Ramaphosa to fast track the issuing of operating licences. They say the government keeps on developing new areas but fails to issue them with new licences to operate in those places. Newzroom Afrika's @vuyo_mvoko has more.

    I don't understand why the operating permits take so long to be issued...a person has to wait for almost two years to receive a permit , but it takes a few hours to get a new taxi from a dealer?
    So if the traffic officers pounds it how will I be able to pay for it at the end of the month?
    The traffic department is just delaying the issuing process on purpose to make money from pounding them sis mann

      I love your comment so much. Why do they allow Toyota to sell quantums when they know very well that they won't give them the permits. Same with Uber and Bolt. Why do they allow the operation of those companies if they know they won't give us the permits. Toyota and e-hailing companies pay too much tax, I guess that's the only thing they care about.

    they cant drive they deserve nothing infact those taxis must be impounded
