- It is #carecollab time for our zygopetalum orchids. Sixteen channels are involved in our #carecollab today. How do we all grow our zygopetalum orchids around the world? Some in a home, some in a greenhouse. I grow mine in the Pacific Northwest, Washington State. I grow indoors with my Mars Hydro Ts1000 grow light and my Bloomspect 600w. These cool to intermediate loving orchids love a good breeze and indirect light. Come visit as we all share about how ours are progressing. I grow orchids as a way to keep my hand and mind busy. it distracts me from the pain of chronic illness. I suffer with chronic migraines, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and when I am not in bed resting I like to keep my hands busy.

Thanks for stopping by Andrea, yesterday started rough but I was able to get an outdoor walk in. I was really a cranky person yesterday. I’m expecting today to be much better.
They look wonderful Michelle, so lush and vigorous. I wouldn't worry about the spotting on the leaves. I guess it's a trait to Zygos although we all would rather have nice clean leaves. Blooms coming soon for sure. Apparently they can bloom any time of the year 😍💖
That gives me hope for growing all indoors I don’t think my orchids know the seasons. Lol

Hi there! You have some lush Zygos. Unfortunately, it's pretty common for the Zygo leaves to get the spotting. 😔

I will have to try again someday with a Zygo. The two plants I had previously have long since expired, but I think I tried to grow them too early on in my orchid hobby, and I had not learned enough about how to care for them in my environment. Will muster up the courage to try again!!
That's how many of us started, buy the pretties,, kill them and then try again a a few years.
I think I will try the full moss with the next one 😁

It was mold from the old spike left in and some water . I treated with rubbing alcohol and trimmed off all dead pieces of the woolly left over bits and pieces.

I don’t think the second one’s new growth would spike. If it did, it’s spike would be already there.
Spike will come outside of a new growth
