    I know it's FM so I know it would sound the same, but very specifically a lot of patches in this remind me of the patches in Ecco The Dolphin, good stuff!

      J.D. Cohen Forgotten Worlds, Altered Beast, Streets of Rage, Strider, Shadow Dancer, Super Monaco GP had some of the best FM synth music ever for its era and still today. SEGA's entire Mega Drive collection is a great sound source for quick -sampling/sketching and turning out some dope chunes and melodies. I kept all of my systems and games from childhood just to have a tremendous library of sounds to go-to for inspiration.

    I really appreciate this vidoe btw! The sounds are not only super cool. But your demonstration of them really shows us some of what you can use it for. A sound is not just a sound. The context of when and where it's being used, and how it's used is everything. So many people often complain about bad presets on their synths. Usually they just don't know how to use the presets. Presets perfect ways of giving the musician a bigger palette to draw inspiration from. And by looking at the settings used to create a patch, it can be studied and mimicked/copied. If/when I get a Digitone, it's a very good chance I'll buy a soundpack :)

    It has a nice sound palette, and you make some pretty rockin' patches for it. You can make almost anything sound good, but I especially appreciate that your patches are designed to be played, not just programmed. Like when you made patches for the Analog Keys, and gave each patch its own expressive space through use of the joystick. Good stuff.
    I have no illusions of ever being known as a musician, but I really enjoy composing even if hardly anyone ever hears it. This is definitely on my shopping list, next to the Digitakt, Peak, and A4. Digitakt + (A4 or Digitone) makes a really nice setup for composing songs. Add some Cuckoo packs and the rest is almost easy. I just need to get, like ... money.

    Some of this is nostalgic video game music...
    That last patch though.... I almost saw you get lost in the waves of sound. Like you suddenly found yourself in a world where you could just reach out and touch beautiful sound. I got the impression of a harp player: they have to wait in limbo sometimes for the instrument to finish doing its thing before they dare move on to the next part.

    Dear Cuckoo, you for sure have great talent for making keyboard sounds on Elektron gear - your AK sounds are so great too.
    Fav Patches have been:
    10 Wixed
    11 Saxed
    12 TBastic (those fm basses will forever remind me of seinfeld)
    13 Icycle (some sweet chrono-ish sounds in that tune you were playing

      I've recently discovered this, but I think it's still a demo product? Haven't found any link where I could order it yet, and simple CC messages sadly won't do the job. But I guess one could make patches on one of the many DX7 editors and import them? Still missing knobs without an ext. device this route though :(
      th-cam.com/video/KK7G6ILFwsI/w-d-xo.html
      I'm curious, have you ever played a Korg M1? Any opinion on the keys?
      Thinking of getting a second hand one, because of the nice & cheesy sounds and the full size keyboard to practice with more voices and more keys. ah, & it's cheap these days. :)

      @@truecuckoo I would imagine maybe most of it would be the same accept for the keys part, I think I will learn the smaller groove box first, it seems a little more complicated but if I take my time and do it systematically I can only get better at using it the more I practice and play with it.

    Can much of the same be accomplished with say: digitone+keystep/or pro, vs purchasing a digitone keys? How does the keys model vary from a stand alone digitone? I like your use of external keys on this one. I feel like Nintendo is missing out by not hiring you yet! Im enjoying the fun sounds!

    • @truecuckoo
      @truecuckoo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks mate. I think the keys model probably has a more streamlined workflow. And some more macros. But if you’re finding the form factor too sword like for you to handle, and you want it more compact, I don’t think you’re missing out that much.

      Found it - they're in the pool so now copied to C001 etc. Thanks!

      Cool. In the Sysex receive page under midi there’s also an option called “receive Sysex to bank” or something.

      I’ve only tried it a little bit. I think I enjoyed the box version more, which is why I never made a video with the keys.

    Does the patch have any electric guitar presets?

    • @truecuckoo
      @truecuckoo  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      This pack doesn’t really have anything specifically made for electric guitars. I haven’t tested it with guitars. But many of the effects will probably work fine. Perhaps you’d feel the need to run the guitar through something first?

      @@truecuckoo Sorry, I wasn't very clear. Do any of the patches sound like an electric guitar?

    how many voices does the digitone have?

    • @Roboprogs
      @Roboprogs 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only 8.
      Unlike say the Reface DX (what I have), though, which is monotimbral, this module will play 4 tracks with different patches. I’m told you can quickly swap patches in and out while a track plays, as well.

    Coocoo, I really love your videos, but this time you were entirely wrong. Elektron gear is famous for its extaordinary sequencer integration. Takes time, reading the manual, understanding how to program the entire unit. Great to see you play, you are a high skilled sound designer and virtuous keyboard player...... but downgrading a Digitone to a desktop synth module is .....a sacrilege.

      There’s the Digitone Keys too. But I actually prefer the desktop version.
