I had the chance to fly over 1,500 hours doing geophysical surveys in Peru, Colombia, and India. It was a time in my career where I really improved my flying skills. This video brought back some great memories. Thanks a lot and happy flying!
Thank you for this video. I always wanted to see an actual survey flight in progress. You did just that it is definitely very interesting and it is a career path that seems very fun to build hours
Almost accepted a job as a survey Lilith and then decided to go the flight instructor route. Thanks for uploading this, I always wonder what the day to day life looks like!
Thanks for the vid and explanation. I was under a similar impression, that there was 2 paths for an aviation career: military or airliners/cargo. The first challenge to that belief was a man that owned a local flight school saying he saw CFI as a career choice (and he was doing quite well). Interestingly, while undergoing my initial flight training, one of these survey Caravans was in the Tucson area...surveying. "I wonder what sort of instruments are in that boom?"
I love the video. Very excited about what I might do with my new pilots certificate. I’m just about ready to solo. So hopefully it won’t be too long till I get my license. And then I’ll start amassing hours. It’s a great idea! Also, I love the background music. What was the background song? It was really nice
I’ve been wondering about survey for so long now. Mostly, “why do people invest in that?” I’m from Madagascar (the island off the southeast corner of Africa) and aerial survey doesn’t exist here. We’re a little behind the rest of the continent. But you mentioned your company sometimes flies in Africa, which makes ne wonder even more: can’t we have that here as well? I’d understand if you aren’t able to name-drop. But could you maybe tell me what to google to find your company? I tried “international multiphysics aerial survey company Spain” and all I have left to ask is, does your company (name) have anything to do with King Arthur?
It does! I think you've found it! They've got an incredible team. Super organized. Top notch maintenance engineer team. They have a base in South Africa, too. Unless there is some sort of flight restriction or a lack of accommodation or maintenance resources, I'd guess a survey in Madagascar is possible. I just fly the plane. I'm not involved in any sort of client negotiations. However, clients could be looking for ground water, hydrogen, potassium, uranium, and pretty much any natural resource hidden in the ground.
Awesome stuff man. Looks like a great career path for all aspiring pilots. Great to see what you’re doing with your CPL. serious question though is whether this can be done by people with 2 nuts?
Ok, this is awesome. I am a surveyor in the Canadian Army and am looking into transitioning into becoming a civilian pilot soon. This would definitely be something I would like to pursue. So my question is: How do you go to the bathroom when you are in the air for that long? Haha
@@onenutnightmareman what an amazing time builder job :) but how much do they pay for beginners ? Or do they hire some who just got their CPL or how many hours do they require?

Thanks! I get all my music from a website known as Envato Elements.

Ha! Absolutely! We even have pilots with 0 nuts doing the job ;)

So my question is: How do you go to the bathroom when you are in the air for that long? Haha
Short answer: you don't!
How do you go about landing a job like this?
You apply with about +/- 1000 hours...and ideally you have a cover letter rich with travel experiences :)
What’s the company?
What do you do when you gotta take a leak? Are you in the air the entire shift? or do you get any quick breaks?
no quick breaks. gotta hold it for 5+ hours at a time!

You can't use the auto pilot?
Is it possible to do paid survey flying with a PPL and 100 hours of flight time?
Do you have a contact? I have some questions regarding starting a survey company using planes
How many hours do you normally fly per month?
It depends on location. I think I've done about 400 hours this year survey flying.
Hello , your video is great about how is our job. I also doing the same but in Sudamérica. 🛩🏔️greetings
