I've had my heart broken time and time again by this franchise, so I have no trust with the bears to fix it. HOWEVER, I will not lie I cheered when we got Caleb, and I cheered when we got Ben Johnson. The hope is what kills ya, but man I hope this team can do something these next couple years.
I'm right thefe with you, my friend. It's been painful year after year. I think we're finally headed in the right direction. But I'm not getting overly excited. Been burned too many times
I think you should be very optimistic. I liked what Coach Johnson had to say about building the team around Caleb. You have you QB…o line next? Good luck.
NGL, Dan Campbell and the Lions are a team playing as if they have nothing to lose, but will make you pay (with 75% interest) for every yard and every score you manage to get against them. Underestimate them at your peril.
Caleb Williams stats this season... 3,541 Pass Yards 489 Rush Yards 20 Pass TDs 6 Interceptions For a guy who got sacked almost 70 times, who was the team's leading rusher in 7 games this season, who had one of the worst passing AND running O Lines in the league, it's amazing that he even had the stats he did. It's also amazing he was able to play all 17 games with the way he was getting hit lol. The kid is tough. He's also the first Bears QB since Cutler in 2014 to have over 4000 total yards. But yeah, I was one of the biggest Fields fans there is, and still am, and I wanted to keep Fields and trade the pick. Yet Caleb, even with the overall team's performance this season, makes me excited for what the future will look like. It might not even happen next year, but literally anything is better than what the 2024 season was for the team and Ben Johnson really does seem like the perfect coach for a QB like Caleb, and this roster in general. At the end of the day, all we want is results and to get back to being a respectable franchise.
Im hoping we keep Fields in Pittsburgh. Love that guy, and i think he has a lot of potential. Our moronic coaching staff needs to get it together and build an offense around his strengths.

@Eidenhoek the coach is still responsible for a lot during the entire draft process. He should have just as much of an idea of who they are going to draft as the GM. The GM makes the official pick but a good coach/GM tandem work together on drafts.

Honestly as a Bears fan what I’m happy about is that it looks like the organization is finally learning how to try. George McCasky continually meddled in bullshit and they always picked a coach no one expected. Finally they went for the top guy. And they did it finally opening the pocketbook because George realized you can try fixing problems by simply spending money. It seems like they actually want to try by operating like a big market team should. This is the most optimistic I will ever feel. More than I did after the Khalil Mack trade. But if this fails I don’t know if I can get so invested and I’ll just wait until they luck into another Super Bowl.
Sean McVay is one of one. Can’t compare anyone else to him. He is a genius, but also has extremely good communications and social skills. Ben Johnson strikes me more as a Kliff Kingsbury type.
As a lions fan I’m immensely torn. On one hand Ben has meant so much to this rebuild of the lions and helped make this team what it is… on the other I hate the bears and if he fails with them this may break the bears fans sprits to a level previously unseen….
Great point about the Johnson-Gase comparisons. All of Gase's HC jobs came after working with Peyton Manning. Johnson revived Goff's career after he had a dip in production. And Johnson isn't like Nagy either. Nagy was a product of Andy Reid and Nagy only called plays for 6 games. Johnson called plays for most of the last three years, coaching a Top 5 offense each year. And the No. 1 offense in 2024.
Honestly, i think he’s going to be great. One of the better teams of the future will be in his hands… saying this as a packers fan. But, he definitely gave Matt LaFluer a reason to work hard to beat him
The sacks are interesting because 1: the line was rough and if bolstered with talent and coaching could improve a lot and 2: I feel like Caleb was coached to avoid turnovers and that was part of the reason that he held on to the ball too long. “Whatever you do don’t throw a pick” which works when you want the rookie record for attempts without a pick, but doesn’t do jack for teaching a QB how to actually play the game. HITS held Caleb back for sure.

I think a really bad sign for Ben Johnson's future at the Bears is I saw that opening clip and I rewatched it like six times trying to figure out what Chicago sports radio station this was. In retrospect the Michigan State hoodie instead of a ND hoodie should have given it away for me.
Only time will tell with this but I don't think there's any other choice we could have made better in this case. It is the bears though so I am not going to be optimistic until results are actually shown.
Dan Campbell identified Ben Johnson's talent and brought him up, he'll do it again so the Lions will be fine. My concern with Ben Johnson at head coach is that he was handed Dan Campbell's offense and playbook, he didn't create it out of thin air, so I'm curious to see if he can recreate what he left behind.
BJ and the Bears. Lol BJ was used to speed shifting in a maserati in Detroit with that stacked lineup. Now he's gonna have to try and win a drag race while granny shifting a 87 Ford Tempo in Chicago.
Bears still believe defense and a running game are the end all/be all for building a playoff roster, but that is from the 70s. So many rules and changes are tilted to offense since then, and defense is more bend-dont-break and focus on taking the ball away to get the offense extra possessions. People get bored for a defensive battle because most nowadays have attention spans of a six year old.
Wait... people are actually serious about the fake fumble "trick" play being like smart or something? That wasn't just a meme on the bears secondary?? Ben Johnson is actually IMPRESSED with himself because of it??? So many questions
been a bears for for 20 years . its all going to be on how good caleb will be and after seeing how long he holds the ball its not looking to different than fields or mitch
"Making a head coaching change after you draft a quarterback is a bad thing. Unless the next head coach you hire is the right thing." Nice analysis there, buddy...
i dont get why everybody keeps saying caleb is a bust or didnt play well. besides the sacks (and even with the sacks) he had one of the better rookie szns for a qb all time. 🐻⬇️
Why we are being so gracious in the comment sections of the world as detroit fans i have no idea. When the lions lost the rest of the country was so excited to go back to attacking detroit. Not even the team I mean the people and the city/state. hope we learn something from this. Not just about football.
Johnson looks a little like Adam Gase, and that doesn't make me happy. Yooooo it'd be awesome if he brings the Bears to the playoffs and gives us a sweep of a division making it into the postseason
BJ is what this team needs. The Bears took a ton of sacks last year, and one of the best solutions to relieve heavy sacks is a great BJ

Grats on 700k Perna, it's well deserved.
Damn using Tom Grossi pro packers GPS CLIP was genius 😮
No offense will work behind my Bears Oline. They need go fix it in the draft and free agency to give BJ and Caleb any hope of turning this around
5:39 flagrant stray 😂😂😂😂
Calling Goff underrated has to be a joke.
Funny hearing a Broncos fan talk about it
You are right though - STRIP the playbook down! PUT only 5 second plays in it!
Its possible the whole nfc north could make the playoffs next year
Thank you Ben, very cool! I had never considered how the league is driven by quarterbacks!
I agree, if it doesn't work with this... there is no hope
Worst part about 5:38 is if you piss dude off he can simply snatch a limb of his choosing to take home with him
Bears fans feel about lions fans the way that packers fans feel about chicaco.
I love this Football Dork. BEAR DOWN
Apparently, the only thing that can save the Bears is new ownership. Johnson is up against that major issue. Good luck.
Wait... people are actually serious about the fake fumble "trick" play being like smart or something? That wasn't just a meme on the bears secondary?? Ben Johnson is actually IMPRESSED with himself because of it???
So many questions
been a bears for for 20 years . its all going to be on how good caleb will be and after seeing how long he holds the ball its not looking to different than fields or mitch
Great brandon🔥👍🏈
Those rosd games are tough, besides the Raiders for da Bears
Not just about football.
the tom brady joke made me lol
Johnson looks a little like Adam Gase, and that doesn't make me happy.
Yooooo it'd be awesome if he brings the Bears to the playoffs and gives us a sweep of a division making it into the postseason
First thing is making sure their QB doesn't get sacked over 60 times.
We can dream, GO BEARS GO!
Im not saying the bears will win a SB, but i am saying that they got a coach whose name doesn't rhyme with the word "lose" and that's improvement
