Couldn't agree more, ozaray. But seriously, what gamer would actually watch the news for video game information, rofl. I can see why the developers of the game might be mad though.
I'm surprised nobody has used the word opportunist yet. It's not being lazy. It's that they want to take advantage of an unestablished industry. A real highlight is when the Ms. Lawrence tried to argue that young people are going to make decisions based on light morals, but got slammed with the argument that it's not as easy as choosing to have sex or not have sex. Owned! This video is an excellent breakdown of tabloid journalism.
Dude good video. I loved it when miss Lawrence said "let me at him", i wonder what she would do, quote more statistics that mean nothing? And i see your also a fan of kotaku!
The maker of this video is telling more truth than Fox ever could. Kudos on the choice of song for the kids version. I lawled too much on the sunny day part
the only reason she said she was sorry was because on amazon her book got 40+ 1 star negative ratings and thousands of tags saying jerk, hypocrite, lier, etc...
I was watching Showbiz tonight on HLN. they were talking about the anti-text PSA and they had Cooper Launce on it!! she kind of said the same thing and was PROMOTING ANOTHER BOOK!! The Colt of Celebrities!!
Every time I watch that segment all I can think is "how can this air?" Yeah, let's do a big news story that most of us no next to nothing about, except for Mrs. Big News Anchor who has went on the website and watched some trailers. I mean look at Cooper's apology "Before the show I had asked somebody what they heard..." simply amazing.
The one main thing that sticks in my head after this video? The Sesame Street theme (No offense to Alaxtor, the video's great, but that damn song's just way too catchy)
Wow, I can't believe how games are portrayed... That's annoying I'm 15, I play video games all the time Here are a list of things about me that disprove this theory: -I'm extremely calm -I'm quiet -I DO NOT think of girls as an "object" they're people too, I fully respect them, especially the girls I like -I know that guns are a weapon, they do kill, they're designed to kill -Etcetera
I agree with doomstar. Anyone who's played video games like Mass Effect or Dragon Age: Origins, knows exactly what to expect out of them. Not to mention, profiles can be password protected, parental ratings can be applied... it's not Microsoft's job to make sure your children don't play something that might offend you, as a parent, it is yours. My children would be allowed to play these games, and I would engage in real conversations with them about what they've seen, and what is reality.
It is sad that now some of the best sources of news are the Daily Show and Colbert report (assuming those that watch are smart enough to separate clear jokes from truth).
I'm glad at least one of them appologized for what they did in that report. What really bothers me is the way that many gamers reacted to this. This video is an example of a mature reaction, while many other gamers just say "those guys should get stabbed to death," or something like that. People that go around saying those kinds of things are only making the gaming community look bad, which is only going to make more people hate video games. But I undrstand me along with many others were mad
It's two years away, but even today I'm not queite sure what the hell was that supposed to be on Fox. I laughed like crazy, even tho I realised how sad it actually is.
have you noticed roughly 6 mins into the video right that when geoff starts defending mass effect and getting the better of the arguement with true facts the women changes the subject onto she wants to stick with the statistics from university and stuff, she completely changes the subject of what their talking about
What did the gaming community do in responce to this? I had seen this interview but I did not know it sparked controversy afterwords. Forgive my ignorence, I am a in college and w/o cable...or my 360...AHHHH!!!!!!
totally agreed, the game is not even for children or teenagers to understand the storyline, they will get bored seeing how much answer options you have for every conversation. Man even my really silly 32 year old brother get bored about that.
Also I would like to point out that Mass Effect doesn't focus on the sex it focuses on the relationship itself and encourages the gamer to go for the girl with the best personality not the hottest body (as shown by how the scene aren't graphic at all and that you actually have to work on relationship)
The only way I would take this argument seriously is if the only people involved where people who had played the game. But then, I don't think anyone would be arguing that there was an overly sexual situation.
That was a dam good video. When my parents saw this thing air on fox news they were tempted to take my whole 360 away. But i showed them the scene and they were pissed off at Fox for misinformation
i think shit like this is why i probably will never watch news on cable and just check my normal news through either facebook, yahoo, or something similar
good video, i think it said everything that needed to be said about how FOX dont know what they're talking about, Geoff Keighley is so great in this interview.
I agree totally. i'm an imagrant to The US from France and that scene was nothing. In Europe ( not just in France, pretty much ALL OF EUROPE) nudity, sexuality programs are on by 7 or 8 oclock. I've seen more horror/ blood and guts movies the nude scenes here then in France. Which i think is absoluetly moronic becuase violent tv is way worse for kids and teens then nudity.
lol she says thirteen year olds have never seen playboy yah right i know tons of 10 year olds who have seen it and what the big deal they need to learn it at some point
i just watched the debate, and man, it seriously pissed me off how biased their argument was. I don't own a next-gen console (ain't got on cash...) and I don't know a lot about Mass Effect, but I can tell that what Fox did was just bullshit...
I was going to start complaining, but there are so many things wrong with what she's saying that I realised I'd run out of space before I'd even gotten through half of it. At least the gaming community got her in the end. I very much doubt that she'll ever sell another book. Considering her lack of interest in doing actual research, I'd like to see this as a service done for the world by gamers. The people have been saved from Cooper's ridiculous (and probably harmful) nonsense.
masterpiece?...is mass effect really that good?....i bought it for my buddy a few months back for his bday but wasnt sure if i would dig it cuz it seems to rpgish...is it really that good?
I think EA or even Bioware would have a VERY clear cut case of defamation with this. Strange that they never sought out a lawsuit? Especially if they never apologized for the obvious slander... It's a game about life. Love and sex are a part of life. Deal with it.
A very well thought out commentary of a painful broadcasting by those given the lofty position of dolling out a public voice. That newscast infuriated, but mostly saddened me. It is no wonder the medium struggles as it does when people spew such ridiculous nonsense like a forum of bobble headed lemmings.
Couldn't agree more, ozaray.
But seriously, what gamer would actually watch the news for video game information, rofl. I can see why the developers of the game might be mad though.
Based
the music fits in so perfectly lol
its like signing Fox new's demise
i love how the serious music comes back on at 2:48 LOOOOOL this is a great video.
Your kiddy commercial cracked me up man, thanks.
I'm surprised nobody has used the word opportunist yet. It's not being lazy. It's that they want to take advantage of an unestablished industry.

nothing can take mass effect's badassness from them, even that song in the trailer
There was a study done at Harvard that said Doctors who play video games have less malpractice suit against them. Something to think about.
i love when it says "how to get to sesame street" and saren is choking shepherd "TELL ME OR ELSE!!!!!!"
lol i love the dramatic music that plays throughout
nice video, you translated it into english for gamers.
Dude good video.
I loved it when miss Lawrence said "let me at him", i wonder what she would do, quote more statistics that mean nothing?
And i see your also a fan of kotaku!
My name is Garrus Vakarian, and I shall assist Shepard in this undertaking.
The maker of this video is telling more truth than Fox ever could.
Kudos on the choice of song for the kids version. I lawled too much on the sunny day part
"Cooper have you ever played Mass effect?"
"No"
-end of argument
LOL I started laughing within two seconds (literally) when the "kids" Mass Effect trailer started playing!
the only reason she said she was sorry was because on amazon her book got 40+ 1 star negative ratings and thousands of tags saying jerk, hypocrite, lier, etc...
"Darling, I gotta go with the research, and the research says that my IQ is 1."
6:15 love how the gamers face just says oh this should be fucking hilarious
I was watching Showbiz tonight on HLN. they were talking about the anti-text PSA and they had Cooper Launce on it!! she kind of said the same thing and was PROMOTING ANOTHER BOOK!! The Colt of Celebrities!!
I believe it's a theme from Heroes III. The puzzlemap. It's just a few seconds long. God, I have to cut down on gaming.
You really shouldn't trust ANY news station that much...
Where's my Renegade interrupt?
The one main thing that sticks in my head after this video?
The Sesame Street theme
(No offense to Alaxtor, the video's great, but that damn song's just way too catchy)

-Etcetera
commander Shephard you sir have some punching to do..
As Keith Olberman says, "Fixed Noise isn't real news!"
Cooper- "geoff i got to go with the research instead of your opinion"
None of those researchers actually played the game either
I agree with doomstar. Anyone who's played video games like Mass Effect or Dragon Age: Origins, knows exactly what to expect out of them. oh my gosh i just realized, lawrence reminds me of that one reporter lady whose name no one can spell
Is that the music score used at the beginning of the first Harry Potter movie?
It is sad that now some of the best sources of news are the Daily Show and Colbert report (assuming those that watch are smart enough to separate clear jokes from truth).
hey did you notice they showed the part that pretty much is the worst part of it and they say its the least worst part of the entire video
When I saw the title I thought to myself "Well duh!"
That ending was hilariously correct
I'm glad at least one of them appologized for what they did in that report.

media of what country?
what does she think mr and ms pacman do in their spare time
"did you play the game"
"hurr durr no"
DISCUSSION FUCKING OVER
have you noticed roughly 6 mins into the video right that when geoff starts defending mass effect and getting the better of the arguement with true facts the women changes the subject onto she wants to stick with the statistics from university and stuff, she completely changes the subject of what their talking about
Nah, cannibalisim is out this year. They'd say Kirby promote's childhood obiesity.
My parents arent irresponsablr for buying me a work of art
2:07 You just made my whole night man
for some reason the very first few seconds of music reminds me of heroes of might and magic 3
What did the gaming community do in responce to this? I had seen this interview but I did not know it sparked controversy afterwords. Forgive my ignorence, I am a in college and w/o cable...or my 360...AHHHH!!!!!!
I think my skull is fractured, I hit my head so many times.
ROFL, that music oddly goes great with the mass effect trailer :P
At least this geoff guy actually knows what he's talking about.
*Beats up fox news reporters*
*Shepard gains 50 paragon points*
totally agreed, the game is not even for children or teenagers to understand the storyline, they will get bored seeing how much answer options you have for every conversation. Man even my really silly 32 year old brother get bored about that.
@Doomstar16 I dont care about the music, so long as people have a good point to back it up, wich it does here.
wait...thats it? yep...thats it, storm in a teacup
i hope they dont do this again for dragon age origins
I lold at the cover of that psychologist's book, what a joke.
What I really is hate when she said critics say that it is being marketed for children! It follows the ESRB rating M so WTF!
They rarely do.
Also I would like to point out that Mass Effect doesn't focus on the sex it focuses on the relationship itself and encourages the gamer to go for the girl with the best personality not the hottest body (as shown by how the scene aren't graphic at all and that you actually have to work on relationship)
They cut the guy off right when he was about to ruin them!
lol, what was that game at 7:08? nice vid btw, I was thinking everything you said first time I saw that video.
True, but Belgium isn't a part of england is it?
The only way I would take this argument seriously is if the only people involved where people who had played the game. But then, I don't think anyone would be arguing that there was an overly sexual situation.
She is the Kahlisa Bint-Sinan Al-Jalani
what is the name of the music playing?
I like the music. What is it?
Good to see a little justice at the end...
Can you imagine what will happen when mass effect 2 comes out they will go rampage!
That was a dam good video. When my parents saw this thing air on fox news they were tempted to take my whole 360 away. But i showed them the scene and they were pissed off at Fox for misinformation
what did the 5 fingers say to coopers face?
SLAP
I freaking love Geoff Keighley. And for them to basically disregard everything he said pisses me off.
Marauder Shields why couldn't you save us from FOX as well!
i think shit like this is why i probably will never watch news on cable and just check my normal news through either facebook, yahoo, or something similar
good video, i think it said everything that needed to be said about how FOX dont know what they're talking about, Geoff Keighley is so great in this interview.
If you look at coopers book on Amazon, it has an absolutely insanely low user rating. Karma.
I've played through mass effect. Took me 35 hours. In those hours there were 10 seconds of 'sex'
Men, what next? Banning RE 5?
GEOFF KNIGHTELY I LOVE YOU. i love thats he in this and atleast that he's going against the clames and accusations
what's the name of the song at the start?
lol she says thirteen year olds have never seen playboy yah right i know tons of 10 year olds who have seen it and what the big deal they need to learn it at some point
i just watched the debate, and man, it seriously pissed me off how biased their argument was. I don't own a next-gen console (ain't got on cash...) and I don't know a lot about Mass Effect, but I can tell that what Fox did was just bullshit...
I'd love to see them try and review The Witcher. :P
I was going to start complaining, but there are so many things wrong with what she's saying that I realised I'd run out of space before I'd even gotten through half of it. It makes sense now that in Mass Effect 2 you can punch that reporter in the face....
Where’s Chad? Chapstick, Chadtronic, Dadtronic, Peanut?
masterpiece?...is mass effect really that good?....i bought it for my buddy a few months back for his bday but wasnt sure if i would dig it cuz it seems to rpgish...is it really that good?
...You are awesome, man.
Assuming direct control.
who else couldnt help but laugh at the sesame street song playing during serious moments of the (kids) trailer?
I think EA or even Bioware would have a VERY clear cut case of defamation with this. Strange that they never sought out a lawsuit? Especially if they never apologized for the obvious slander... It's a game about life. Love and sex are a part of life. Deal with it.
hes a pretty decent journalist when it comes to gaming from what i know
I love your version of the trailer xD
Does the Fox Network have a community forum? If so, I want to sign up there, post a link to this video and see what happens.
FoxNews has run into a dilemma similar to Canada's. Nothing exciting is happening that people don't already know.
My question is why they just didn't watch the sex scene to actually see what is in it.
Geoff Keighly RULES!!!!!!
I didn't know that seeing a butt counts as "full digital nudity"
my parents stopped paying the cable company because they said that all they show is stupid and useless especially the stuff they show on the news
A very well thought out commentary of a painful broadcasting by those given the lofty position of dolling out a public voice. That newscast infuriated, but mostly saddened me. It is no wonder the medium struggles as it does when people spew such ridiculous nonsense like a forum of bobble headed lemmings.
OOOOOH so THAT'S why i always see "press X to get on train" everytime i go to school.....
seriously. in the words of chris rock
"what ever happen to crazy?"
