Great song! Joe Walsh in the 2000s when playing this song in concert introduced it by saying: "If I'd known I'd be playing this song for 40 years I'd a written a different song!" 😃😃 Now JP please take a look at Joe's album right after he left The James Gang. 'Barnstorm'. It is a beautiful album.
This song was played by the James Gang on the Drew Carey Show TV series -- Drew introduces the trio at the end of the show, and Joe Walsh was in Drew's band for a few episodes.
This takes me back. There are parts of it that make me think of "Footloose". I am surprised you haven't listened to some James Gang as well. I am surprised you haven't been asked to listen to "The Rain, The Ashes and I".
On their debut album entitled Yer' Album, there is also another numbered “funk”: this time “Funk #48”. Personally my favourite James Gang album with Joe Walsh is their third, logically called Thirds, which is perhaps their most eclectic to this point in their career. Also from the James Gang check out their underrated period that nobody ever mentions, with Joe Walsh's replacement, Domenic Troiano on guitar (and Roy Kenner on vocals). Try the pair "Madness"/"Kick Back Man" (as those two go together).
"All Right Now" by Free...may well have been taken from this classic. "Ashes, The Rain, and I" and "Woman" are ones I know you'll like from this album. Also "Bomber".
It starts ok, despite the obvious footloose thing, which is quite the distraction. But later it just gets a bit bitty, and that percusive break just ruins it for me... Yeah, not great.
Now you're ready for "Tend my Garden" and "The Bomber" Peace
One of their rocking hits. Takes me back. Give a listen to the full "The Bomber" medley, "Funk 48," or "Woman".
Footloose is the song you’re thinking of. It came out in ‘84.
Foot loose; so why's he dancin'? 🤣
Great song!

That was a fun string of episodes, even the band tryouts were entertaining. Being set in Cleveland, they even brought in Michael Stanley.
@@sgtBelson -- I have Michael Stanley's Friends & Legends album - JW does some fun stuff with "Funky Is The Drummer"
Whole album is fire! Joe Walsh solo too!
It would be fun to see Justin go from this to "Life of Illusion".
The Bomber!

Glad you figured it out… that would have bothered me for days.
JP Naps Again…
Naps Again
Joe is a very interesting guitar player, prebends, slides, chicka wuckas and bierrr bowwwrangs…. love it.
That tune you hummed that sounded familiar really sounded like the main chorus of Footlloose-Kenny Loggins.
Joe Walsh later joined The Eagles. The track Life’s Been Good from his solo effort is a fun one.
"Time Out" "County Fair" "Ashton Park" Joe Solo

Oh yeah. I remember the band name James Gang. I always liked this tune.

This band was started by the superb drummer James Fox, therefore it was "James' Gang", get it? and he was the only constant member.
About 30 years ago a friend lent me that album and I copied "Woman" und "Ashes the Rain and I" onto a tape of curiosities.
That riff gave me Footloose vibes.
Hey, Justin! You're not thinking of Genesis' "The Knife", are you? It also has a cool rundown riff similar to that. Both are great!
Dale Peters was locked with Jim Fox.
If you want funky then April Fool by Isis is the place to go...🎶🎶
Get a good look at the drummer on the video. Thanks JP
Really looking 4ward to being impressed by this. Hopefully it blows my mind. FTL of the more eager type.
And the verdict?
Colossal! Diolch.
A lot of bands ripped off a lot of early Joe Walsh riffs, the riff master 👍

This comment starts ok despite mentioning Footlose but later it just gets a bit bitchy
