I actually had to come across this comparison when I was purchasing a new marker earlier in the week! The guys at my local shop were awesome enough to let me shoot both the ERA, the AMP, the DSR+, and a 170R all side by side. It literally came down to the ERA and the DSR+ for me, and I wound up going with the DSR+ for...yes...the tool-less features and the slightly softer shot on paint. Both markers are AMAZING for their given price point, but the DSR+ just inched it out EVER SO SLIGHTLY for me! Thanks to the guys at Matrix Gear USA for allowing me to test-fire all these awesome markers!
Stopped by my local store and tried the ERA and DSR+ next to each other. Man, it's a hard choice between the two. Do I want the thumpy shot of the DSR+ or More Snappy of the ERA.... The softness is the same... that new era trigger....Somebody!
If they made a marker that teleported balls to the target with absolutely no perceived movement at all, doug would still prefer the shot quality of the shocker.😂
This is Joel.. honestly, I have been thoroughly impressed with shot quality of Era and I honestly like it a little bit more than DSR+ when it comes to shot quality specifically. The DSR+ is too smooth and makes it feel like I'm not shooting at full velocity. Overall, however, the DSR+ wins this hands down. Same price point with better efficiency and toolless features makes it a no question!
I am just getting ready to get back in to playing. I would have about a 4.5 hour drive to get to the store but its worth it to be able to get my hands on the guns to see what will be the best fit for me. I'm hopeful to get to come up in the next couple of months. The unbiased reviews have been a huge help in knowing what I want to look at. Thanks for the great content. Keep it up.
I know its a very similar review but id love to see a quick comparison between the DRS + Icon (or just with the IM Pro Kit) vs the Era as they seem to be the two softest markers out rn 👀🔥
So far, the Era is probably the nicest shooting marker I've owned. I liked the DSR+, but I don't miss it. The XTS/GT2 really have the only impressive eye covers. The Era's looks are somewhat boring, but the accent kits help a bit.
I am purchasing a marker next summer after I pay for school. Has your Era handled both brittle paint and the thick field stuff you have to buy at scenario games? I am mainly going to try and travel once a month on weekends to play regional scenarios and I want a gun that is just reliable with normal cleaning and can shoot whatever paint I am forced to buy.
Can you guys give us a video on how to join a team, what it costs, the kind of skill and gear that you need, and different places you may go? I live near this store and have been there and bought things before and was thinking about maybe joining a team but I don’t know how.
Enjoy watching the comparison videos. You guys favored the amp over alot of the competition. When you say it doesnt shoot like the amp is that better or worse? I'd be curious to see of hear about the amp to era and cs3 to 180r.
We think the ERA is an improvement over the AMP! Not to say anything was “wrong” with the AMP to begin with, but the ERA is noticeably nicer! And here’s a link to a brief comparison with the 180r and CS3! th-cam.com/video/mGUkuQMJWp0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=52pVcXKkXqeXQzHa
It seems like smart parts really wants to sell the Luxe as well and because they booth shoot the same the extra tool less stuff gives them a reason to charge more. For $1000 though, it should be tool less
Sadly the era kept every electronic from the Amp to my understanding. Which is my biggest issue. The board alignment to the body sucked. Hopefully the Era did fix that issue. Now I do wish the dsr+ would already come with the IM kit. With that being installed, I think it would whoop the era. Oh lastly, the freak xl insert is a plus. But the dye barrels have always been a step above. Obviously this video is a few days old. But the aftershock Dsr+ would wreck the era
My dsr+ has been my least favorite marker. The shot is great but everything else is meh. Ergo's meh, quality/qc on mine was bad, reliability poor, so idk. I ordered an era and will compare it with the rest of my markers. Right now my mains are a geo4 and g6r, vanquish gt and insight ng with a hindsight as backups. Geo4 went down during the rmpl. Friends used the vanquish and it ran great the whole time.
Great option for a high end gun , shocker easily holds it's own against the " top " tier guns for $500-600 dollars less . Honestly believe top tier should start at the shocker and 180 and mid tier is Etha 3 and Axe2.0 , there is nothing a TM40 or CS 3 does that a 180 can do it even a Era .
@@vand1007 yea that was the joke, I couldn't imagine anyone with any knowledge of paintball choosing a macdev over a 180 , fully pimped DSR+ or shocker and all of them for hundreds of dollars less.

@@Midwestfishingbros it's most definitely not worth $1400 , maybe a thousand and that's still a tough sell . I can grab a infamous 180 and still be a couple hundred bucks less , no macdev is better than a 180 .
I'm choosing the 180R over these 2 all day (this is Joel). Worst shot quality but best reliability, better case, best tool-less features and comparable efficiency

Good idea!
shocker cant do the QOL toolless features bc that would take away from luxe sales
They're going to need to do a lot to justify the 700.00 difference. The Era is NICE! My TM40 is going to be sitting in my bag now.
Surprised Doug didnt wander off screen mid video. 😂

DSR+ with the IMpro kit is, in my option, the nicest shooting marker you can buy right now.
Anyone else notice that the Era video that SP released today (Era vs Amp) had a PURPLE ERA in it?? :)
Good comparison. Dsr+ with im pro is a better comparison but basically is the same.
We wanted to compare apples to apples which is bone stock. The IM pro kit would also make the DSR+ $90 more expensive compared to the Era
would love to see an era vs amp review

I wonder if Doug likes the Shockers…?
Lol oh he for sure does but explained his bias ahead of time and ultimately chose the DSR+ overall

So… if you like the Amp you’ll love the Era. If you are not a shocker fan than this Era will probably not make you one.
Good summary for sure
This should be engraved on a tombstone

Is the Era core a copy of the 180r's core? Ill assume the Icon's core will be a cs3 copy.
They shoot quite differently. If they did copy the 180 core, they also improved it.
Tm40 vs shocker era
Not gonna even finish watching! Need to hire someone with a clue
Lol
@@PunishersPaintball You guys should probably sell your paintball business since you are so dumb...says random internet connoisseur.
SP margins must be good because you guys love those shockers
We just speak the truth. The Era shoots great just doesn’t have the features of the DSR+
Excellent review and comparison
