Saw Thandi twice on game drives in Sabi Sands in late September, about a week before she gave birth. Also saw her 3-year old daughter, Tlalamba. Hopefully, these two cubs survive to maturity and live long lives.

RIP little ones :( it pains me to imagine how amazing your lives could have been if they weren't so tragically cut short. Honestly, i feel that Thandi has not been the same ever since she lost those cubs. I'm worried about her. We will never know what happened to her cubs, but i can't help but feel that it was really traumatic. Every sighting of her i have seen since then has just really made me wonder.
Interesting how at almost a month old they still seem so....babyish, they are babies, of course. But domestic cat kittens of the same age are pretty mobile. Almost always starting to jump and run and play. I suppose being leopards, these little things would develop slower. Also, something interesting I've read is that leopards Or any patterned animal, is born with all the spots/stripes/markings it'll ever have, just more tightly condensed onto a smaller body.
@Blobbert Mcblob I guess patterns are their unique prints. About their slow development compared to domestic kittens, could it be one lives in the wild, the other grows with human, especially when they live more like us? Thanks. :-)
Good observation. Lion cubs also seem to mature faster than leopard ones. By this stage they are almost ready to join the pride (certainly by 6 weeks).

I missed something about naming the cubs...I guess. Normally only rangers give them names when they make it to one year. I think one is a girl. Couldn't see the other's behind. lol.
@@2011ACVVV Someone donated $5,000 to get naming rights to the cubs when they were asking for donations to keep SL going. Or at least to name one of the cubs. We didn't know there are 2 cubs at that time.
