What a year! It has been an honor and privilege for our team to facilitate ‘ako faiva classes at the Oranga Community Centre with children ranging from 3-18 years of age. Throughout the year children have been building their skills learning the Tongan language, music and dance. Classes are designed to educate the next generation with the confidence to celebrate their Tongan heritage, culture and way of life.
Blessed to end the year with our Pukepuke ‘o Tonga showcase Tupu’a that highlights the hard work and perseverance of our children and families.
Families have told us how important it is for them that their children to have the opportunity to engage with their Tongan culture and language. They love seeing their children’s confidence grow as they connect, learn, sing and dance together.
Mālō ‘aupito to our families, to Oranga Community Centre, Move Auckland Pacific (MAP) collective, Maungakiekie Local Board, Auckland Council & The Auckland Performing Arts Centre (TAPAC) for all the support this year.
