    A client suffered the inevitable leaking active body control tandem pump, front seal. Rather than wastefully spending more money into an ever failing hydraulic fluid suspension, he chose to convert over to adjustable coilovers. I gladly concurred.
    This conversion included the removal of the tandem pump and was replaced by a standard Mercedes OEM power steering pump. All ABC components and lines were removed.
    Special shout out to Ernie Slaughter, for allowing me to modify his beloved Mercedes SL500. Follow him at Eliot Slaughter on TH-cam. A great musician who won’t disappoint. Beautiful music for the soul. Enjoy your car again bro! You’ve just received the ‘Gold Touch’.

    As a professional machinist and custom car builder I highly recommend applying a thread lubricant to the upper and lower strut threads where they contact mating parts. This will help you with your adjustments and also prevent corrosion of the raw aluminum male and female threads if you need them to turn in the future. Raw aluminum is very pretty but corrodes super fast over time!

      Great recommendation. Great advice!

    • @mytuberforyou

      Except I think these are anodized, not raw aluminum, and anozide is an oxide layer grown out of the base metal that is basically a ceramic. And adding a lubricant can reduce the thread friction enough to make the locking nut ineffective, changing the adjusment or loosening the nut. Locking nut arrangements rely on thread friction on both nuts and the mating face between the nuts in order to work.

      Hey bro…..thank you and sorry about the late response. Yours should still consist of the two separate reservoirs I believe. There’s two connected by a guard and bracket. Simply remove the abc reservoir and divider/guard. Only use the smaller power steering reservoir.

    Neighbors might eventually get mad about the noise, tow trucks and cars being worked on and complain to the city that you are operating a shop out of your residential address. If I were you I would make sure that you stay friendly with your neighbors and give out coffee gif cards, etc. to them from time to time. It’s time to rent space and open a small shop bro. Sometimes we have to force ourselves to take the plunge, rather than waiting for the perfect time to do something. Best wishes. .

    Great detailed video. I see that this hasn't been asked or discussed but is there a need for the upgraded sway bars? I see one company saying to not install the conversion without installing the sway bars. I didn't see any mention of it in this video. Also is your conversion kit the same for the SL500 and SL55? My car is a 03 SL55 but the website just says SL class.

    • @goldelementautoworks
      @goldelementautoworks  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching and reaching out. No, you do not need sway bars. The one website that enforces the opposing argument sells swaybars. So it’s a marketing strategy. 95% of coilover conversion owners, do not add swaybars for a reason. They are not needed. These coilovers are for the SL500, 600 and 55. (I may need to update the website listing info) Also, I just installed silvers Neomax on my 2003 SL55. I drive mine aggressively so I added Swift springs to mine. Not at all needed for most owners. The standard spring is perfect. I’ve done many conversions since this video. Many more videos have been posted and much more to come.
