This is around when I hopped off the series, though I remember sporadic events from further in. But little context. So in short, this is where I hop on this LP, and I'm loving it so far. With all the series and mods and campaigns you've done, you really are becoming one of the primer Starcraft channels on the entire site.
I just noticed big difference between this and WOL. HOTS has much, much more missions that are basically "attack and destroy enemy's base". That's not a bad thing in itself but think about it like that. In WOL you were chasing trains, holding out, collecting stuff etc. Very few missions were simple "destroy enemy's base". A bigger objectives variety was nice In HOTS defence, it does try to experiment with this base destroying by adding different stuff from time to time (like flash freeze in one mission or occasional nuke strikes in the other)
To be fair, that feels sort of justified story and ambience wise. (Not saying they couldn't have came with more diverse mision and jsutified them plot wise if they had really wanted, just that the disparity fits, tone wise) In WOL you were uspposed to be a smallish mercenary/guerilla(abd even slightly piratey) force in the middle of aconflict between two much bigger powers that wanted you dead. Smash and grabs and robbery missions made sense. In HOTS youre.. well the mission are supposed to amke you feel like you're the zerg swarm. Eat and destroying all in it's passage with very little subtlety in it's tactics, it's kind of what the Zerg swarm does.
HoTS was really about a more MOBA like experience. Kerrigan is crazy strong if you spec into her activated abilities and after the Zaras missions she can easily solo most maps. I think that was the real focus of this campaign. Meh, it was fun, just not really what SC2 is about for me.
Each campaign has its own “feel”. WoL is a ragtag group of rebels trying to eke out a victory against powerful, organized foes. They take big risks, such as getting the second artifact while the zerg attack the protoss, or getting another artifact while the planet is about to be incinerated. HotS is all about the Swarm. In missions such as Rendezvous and Domination, you receive an overwhelming force to completely eradicate your enemy after you meet the main objectives. In Infested, you use the enemy’s forces against them as you take over Skygeirr station. LotV has many “secure X locations” missions. Clear creep from the cores; destroy the circuits; repair the engines, etc. I can’t really think of a way that this fits a lore “mood” for LotV. NCO is all about using elite technology to your advantage. All of Nova’s gear is wildly overpowered, and her units get unique upgrades and abilities. I tip my hat to the developers who thought of jumping siege tanks.
@@kennyrlarsen The mood of LOTV is fairly similar to WOL, in that you are a small force of survivors being hunted by a much bigger forces but with the extra idea that you must get more allies (the big focuss was about unifying the different protoss forces, dalaam, nerazim and taldarims). So you do different task to get allies and search for the truth and stay on the move particulalry in the first half of the campaign. Then in the second half it's more about 'holding the line'/'reconquering'.
My headcanon is that he couldn’t find any ammo for his advanced weapons in this Umojan base. He totally should have had his rifle from Belly of the Beast.
I actually wonder what Nova would say if you didn’t even do Breakout/Ghost of a Chance. Also why didn’t the Archangel/Dominion forces just destroy Raynor’a dropship?
Why did they not just destroy it when it went back to the planet alone? Why didnt raynor just wait on the other side and jump on the ship once the archangel is dead. Why didnt jim kill nova on sight? Reasons
Another missed opportunity I think, how terrible is Kerrigan and no one calls her on it. How many other people is she willing to sacrifice to get what she wants. The whole fleet of probably 10s of thousands of crew is going to die. Fuck it I want Jim, we totally made out last night. The player just spent an entire level destroying a research facility because she wanted to make a point or something. Not to mention killing Fenix and Duke. And the billions of people on how many planets from pre Brood War till now. She really is just awful. Jim said it best: "How many more noble souls do you need to consume before you're satisfied?
You know, if Tosh had been there with Jim, they could've taken Nova, found a way offworld or maybe even gotten to the launch bay fast enough to cross the bridge before the Archangel destroyed it
Looking back the end scene here suffers more from dialogue choices over anything else. At this exact point you have A mirror of what happened on Tarsonis. A Mengsk is ordering abandoning ship over rescue. Valerian isn’t the same man as his father but Kerrigan isn’t about to watch abandonment happen again. She goes back, because the alternative is to be just as bad as Arcturus.
This is when; the storyline broke to make Alain zombie eaters as idols XD hero idols. Its sorta okay for a rush narrative. Just Zerg love > Raynor... in hero of the they feel more natural XD
9:33 Kerrigan: "Just you and me now Jim."
Three Umojan marines: "Are we a joke to you?"
😁
Yeah, Mengsk is definitely not getting the #1 Dad mug this year...
I didn’t think that hydras knew about micro until now
Yeah the conflict between Mengsk and Valerian was a missed opportunity, among many others.
At least it’s explored in some of the books.

same, the story i WoL was ok to eh, but with this it was a very sharp decline.

We really don't get to see enough of cinematic Space Battles in Starcraft...
“Just like riding a bike.”
Giggity.
Kerrigan: I don't think I should control the zerg again... *muttered* It'd make this way too easy.
I kinda wonder why Jim doesn't use those piercing the shroud abilities in this mission...
He likely was caught o guard and so wasn't able o arm up. Remember, those abilities were treated like equipment.
He was just A-moving. Pretty lazy.
My headcanon is that he couldn’t find any ammo for his advanced weapons in this Umojan base.

Ah Jim/Sarah the eternal love story of Starcraft will always live on
not so eternal, was reconned into starcraft 2 where in 1 it was just the one flurt
Fenix rolling in his grave
Thanks for the video.
Fun fact heres a small easter egg at the start lf the mission if you just stay in place at the start
After all this years, still a pig.
@@jeru_jj1161 Men all over history and timelines still only want one thing 😆🤣

@@Kishimpl I mean for Nova she's an elite ghost i wouldn't be surprised at how quickly she moves and gets invisible, but for the rest...
uhhh...

so based on this conversation, siding with tosh is canon huh?
It isn't, it depends on your choice between nova or tosh
i like how nova is using spec ops than ghost LOL esp with the previous run in w/ tosh
Why is that guy on the landing bay still breathing when the door outside is still open?
there are force barriers. Can be seen in armory in WoL. Assume hangers have them too.
@@CerberusGoosen didn't knew barriers can also trap air from escaping
Like old times
hero glows?
Imagine Jim and Sarah knew they were just characters in a Game
Ohhh this is romantic scene when Kerigan kiss Jim :D
