Thank You for your kind words about Tamworth FC. This was our cup final. The respect shown to our club from Tottenham and their fans was tremendous. Hope you can progress and have a great season. Best wishes from a proud Tamworth fan.
You guys were brutal. I'm a Spurs fan but It was funny to watch them at the receiving end of the kind of football that ends in brawls at my local teams. I was really nervous we'd get another player injured though. 😅
You did brilliantly, obviously it's very embarrassing for us but take nothing away from you at all. You probably should have won in the end. Fans, the players, the coach all deserve so much credit.
Thanks Alasdair. Djed Spence has serious quality, that crossfield ball to Sonny for our second goal was amazing. Udogie may struggle to get his place back and/or more rotation in that position. As part of that Djed should be included in the Europa squad in place of Timo.
The vibe I got was that many of the team (whether consciously or subconsciously) were trying to avoid injury due to the big games coming up. Combine this with playing a team that was playing for their lives basically, you can understand (IMO) why we found it difficult.
Definitely playing cautious to avoid injury but they would have controlled the game better if Werner took his 3 decent chances. I would have rathered Mickey Moore striking and Yang on the wing.
Djed Spence is a fantastic player, the crime is that it's taken this long for us to see him regularly. The player himself said that Steve cooper just let him be himself, that's why he was so good at forest. Great that Ange understands him, and is getting the benefit. As for Timo, i feel sorry for him as well. Confidence is not natural for some, and i think hes one of them. Don't know happened at Chelsea, but they have irreparably destroyed him. Timo needs a shrink, someone has to get inside his head. The kid needs help, not stick
We knew when we got werner on loan the first time that this was not the same player that scored for fun. and everyone certainly knew what we were getting the second time round. Yet everyone is picking on him (inc ange) as if he was somehow short-changing us. He is what he is and if ange gives him a lucrative 4 year contract this summer, it is not werner's fault.
To any fans who are losing the plot over this match ask yourself how much you care about the Coventry performance since we beat City, United and Liverpool in the subsequent rounds?
I have no idea why people think we have to play like Brazil every time we run out - the best teams get through “periods” winning by any means - half our fan base are never happy no matter what happens !
@bobble3633 I never said we had to play like Brazil but almost losing to a conference league team who lost 7 nil to Barnet just the orther week is embarrassing
Good morning Ali, 1st and foremost, well done to Tamworth, that's what the magic of football is all about, they should be proud of themselves and thank you for your consistency and hardwork Ali, nice start to a Monday morning. Wow that was a close one, I'm just glad we made it to the next round. Never easy as a Spurs fan 😬😬
Ir was one of those games where Spurs really never got out of second gear. With the game against Woolwich on the horizon and the risk of injury, you can kind of understand why certain Spurs players didn't bust a gut.
I used to play every week on one of those pitches. a) the lack of bounce saps all the energy from your legs, and b) no one wants to do a slide tackle and lose all their skin.
Agree about Bissouma, yes there was a large gulf but he was immense today and hardly got a mention! Well done to Tamworth, shame they were denied a money spinning replay though...👍

This game was never going to be the 'walk in the park' people thought it would be. My local team, Kidderminster Harriers (who are a league below Tamworth) took West Ham all the way a couple of years back. They were seconds away from winning in 90 mins and seconds away from penalties in extra time. WHU were 5th in the league at the time. It happens sometimes. Watch Spurs go on and win the thing now.
One thing I will say, games like this seperate people who understand football and don’t. The level of difference between being semi pro and pro is minimal. They can all play, it’s being able to do things faster, with less time/space and under pressure. It’s why only less than 1% make it to pro, doesn’t mean the rest are bad. People making out like these players are disabled. It was the game of their lives, Spurs needed to match that and they struggled, but end of the day they won and didn’t concede, while everyone made out they were gunna score from calamity tactics with long throws. You can’t blame the manager for this one, other fixtures ok, but there was enough quality there to win the game without a fuss.
Exactly Paul. Those guys are competent footballers, maybe injury or bad luck stopped them playing at a higher level, but they would wipe the floor with most men.
That's exactly it. They were playing st their very peak and we were trying to win in first gear. Took until extra time, but we did batter them in the end. Ange put more than enough talent out their to win in 90. I'm shocked how poor some players were. Werner really needed to have a good game and he was awful at non league level. Johnson still struggled to stamp authority at nom league level.... Worrying signs there for sure!
@@jacklane3679 Yeah Werner was very disappointing again. At the end of the day, and many either choose not to recognise it, or don't see it, Werner is another body at the moment that the team needs. He has amazing pace to burn and opens up the space (when playing wide), regardless of his end product. I think he will finish the season and that's it.
@@N17Stu Absolutely spot on, I've seen great footballers who have career threatening injuries at the academy level, but 18 months out at that age and it's highly likely your opportunities are drastically diminished to play pro.
First of all, a big up to Tamworth. Even if we are playing Arsenal on Wednesday, I think a few players on Sunday needed to get out of the first gear. However, we won the game, and some do say it's a result business.
It was a typical FA Cup game, on a terrible pitch in a small ground, had happened many times. If you're really feeling bad about it, look at Newcastle they won but they struggled and they were at home, and a nice bonus Arsenal are out.

Yeah, I totally agree. I don’t get why Ange hasn’t used Spence more. Every time he’s played, he’s been good! It would be great if Spence could rotate with Porro.
I have a theory that Djed was essentially on probation up until now. We supposedly wanted him out during the summer window, but he stayed around. For gods sake that pitch was a great leveller, Spurs players probably had the thought of getting injured in their heads. We won in the end, but I guess it won't stop the moaning.
Putting aside how great Tamworth were this was a match we couldn’t “win”. The FA cup is littered with similar scores and performances against lower teams. Just move and look forward. It’s the FA cup and anything can happen. We’re in the next round and that’s all that matters Just to add that we appear to have bought a superb goalkeeper. So good as is Djed Spence, Djed is going to be some player for us
Thanks, Alasdair for the video. That’s the hard match out of the way and just the Gooners away to deal with next! Tamworth must have been quite an experience for the whole squad. The “dressing rooms” looked smaller than some of the cars that the players drive. As for the team selection, given Werner’s lack of confidence and form I was surprised that Will Lankshear was not chosen to lead the line at least for one half of the game. Suggests he may be sent out on loan for the rest of the season. Talking of which, let’s hope that Alfie Dorrington gets plenty of game time and does well at Aberdeen.
Cheers Ali, great report as always - no, I didn't nod off, you were very entertaining ( sorry, very patronising comment). I didn't get worried at all during the game, I had confidence in our boys and can't wait to watch the game against the gooners.
An interesting insight as always Mr G. As a Spurs exile in the north east, I go along to watch Gateshead who are, in fairness full time but people would be surprised at the quality at that level if they don't watch it.
I know it wasnt an important goal but just watch Jed Spences involvement from start in this goal. It showed 4 different aspects of just how well he is playing>
This was their cup final, we looked knackered, the turf and the cold weather was a leveler... it was a tad embarrassing but I'm not down about it. It was 11 men up for it vs 11 men that werent. We got the win eventually and happy to delete this from the memory
I feel tremendous human sympathy for Timo Werner. He has thoroughly broken by his experiences in English football. Having said that though i think in all honesty when everyone is fit he will struggle to even make the bench as others are just better options now.
Al, I just want to add. Love the puffer jacket, and the intensity in the post-match interview on the pitch. Your eyes were laser focused when Ange was speaking. Astute professional. I’m bet you didn’t miss a word 😂
Hi Ali, the reason Bentancur was taken off and not under a 'Concussion sub' is because under that rule, Liverpool would also get an extra substitution. Their bench was a lot stronger than ours so Ange clearly decided to just keep it a normal sub, thanks as always 👍
Im Ange in but holy smokes playing Werner up front against non-league is bizarre. What is Ange seeing literally nobody else does, and how must Lancashear feel?
Maybe Ange was hoping Tamworth would make Timo an offer this transfer window. I think I heard Andy Peaks say at one point "That Timo looks about our level"
As regards long throws Wrexham used this tactic to good effect in their promotion pushes. I would like to see Spurs use it just as a surprise tactic occasionally. It can cause panic in opponents defence and may be useful when playing against a 8 man defence.
I think for most fans, Johnson is just as frustrating to watch as Werner, despite his goals. I don't get why he often seems so detached, not confident, not going into 1v1s, but then goes on to shush the crowd when he scores. If he feels as though he has a point to prove, then you'd imagine he'd be having a proper go at it...
Full marks to Tamworth for their performance. It is really unfortunate that the fixture calendar has become so full that they have done away with 3rd round replays as they really deserved one, going into extra time the fitness of full time professionals and the big names from the bench were going to be too much
I have been a avid supporter of our beloved Spurs since 1964 and in my humble opinion believe that Timo Werner is a genuine decent human being and a nice person, but here's the thing, he is not at Tottenham Hotspur for those qualities, he is there to make a difference on the pitch playing the game we all Love and spend soooooo much money watching. With all due respect to him, he just isn't cut out for English football. He could actually be one of the worst players to represent our club. Sorry Timo.
Have you started the Archie Gray Appreciation Society yet? I'm waiting to enroll🤍We have a gem of a player but just such a good ambassador of the club, hopefully for a long time and take the baton from Sonny eventually.
Tino Werner some advice on 1 v 1 , fake to shoot just once when your in then just smash the ball as hard as you can. Don't try any cute chips or side shots . Just try this and see how you get on. We just needed to win , performance not an issue in the FA Cup. New keeper is exceptional , Gray , Ragusin and Bergval are just getting better. COYS
Never had any illusions that this game was easy thought we would power on in the 2nd half but did not happen The noise level from some fans and pods has gone back to the negative narrative infact some were still negative after the Liverpool game. I Support the club and whilst frustrating for the past 40 years i do not slag them off and it all gets out of hand, if Pods want to slate the club, players (often to a personal level) why do they follow us - go and support the gooners as they clearly do not give a monkeys about the club i support Hence i will always listen to You, last Word of Spurs and the Spurstalkshow have a balanced narrative and looks to where the club is going As a positive Archie Gray what a lad, he is so so good and a managers dream, future England and Spurs Captain
Kinsky has kept more clean sheets than Forster. 😂 He's only been here a week. 😊 💯% clean sheets and wins. That's my takeaway from a potential banana-skin tie
Kinsky has only played 2 games so you can't really compare and 1 was against Tamworth. But he looks a class keeper so be interesting to see how it works when vicario is fit again. But I like kinsky alot already, feel bad for Austin tho. Played 1 game and was pretty good. Hope he goes to a premier team and gets more games.
We always struggle to break down low blocks. Don’t get me started on our wingers. What I don’t understand is why we persisted in getting it out wide when our crossing was shocking and the wingers couldn’t beat their man.
Thanks, Ali. Another victory for Spurs and I will not apologize for being happy they won. Onto the NLD where I hope we get a positive result. For me, it doesn’t matter how you win, it’s that you win. Thanks again. COYS!
Playing a team of bricklayers, financial advisors and office workers is never easy. Waiting until these guys, who work 5 days a week, to tire in extra time was a tactical masterstroke from the football genius who is Big Ange.
Johnson may be our top svorer but yhat says more about how poor our front line is rsther than how good he is. During the 90 mins he was one of the worst on the pitch he only came alive after their heads went down.
It’s quite frustrating that Werner still hasn’t quite clicked for us. It’s unfortunate but really he’s just there to give the others a rest, I would have liked to see Lankshear start that game.
I'd put Forster there before Werner. It's so infuriating he gets into great positions to do nothing. I wanted to see him do well now I just want him gone.
Werner is there to steal a living, he does nothing but get paid every week. He's an absolute fraud. All you have to is look at Tamworth's left winger and how much effort he put in. Was knackered when he came off. Werner could never.
It was the biggest game for most (if not all) of Tamworth’s players, and they played as such. Our guys played like the game was an inconvenience to them. But, a win is win so we’ll move on.
For me it wasn’t the quality of the pitch that was the factor it’s the fact that potentially it was smaller (or at least it looked like on tv) and so there was very little space for the attackers to exploit and lo and behold when Tamworth were tired and spaces opened up we scored 3 goals
@@Sam79907 Billionaire owners don't want relegation, they want to make money. It's always about money than tradition. But having everyone having a chance to dream big is the coolest thing ever as a supporter
Ali, the camera was looking right at you in the post-match on field Ange interview. You looked like an extra from Monty Python "what have the romans ever done for us?"
Radu was on a yellow and was beginning to get involved in a wrestling match with their forwards. It really looked like he was being taken off before he was sent off so I don’t think it was injury-related.
Thanks Ali… We won, Arsenal lost and can’t wait for Wednesday. Werner missed a few but at least he had a few to miss. We need to talk about Brennan. He literally couldn’t show against a non-league defender. Not a ball across the box, not a single one-on-one take on. Nothing in defence. Tamworth played around him like a bollard… then with Pedro behind him we are weak down the right.
Spot on. Brennan has to do a lot more in general. It wasn’t just this game. I appreciate he has contributed with goals and assists all season, but his overall play needs a massive improvement
Whether it was injury time of extra time or not, he scored. I guess we should tell them to not try and score if it's injury time of extra time. Not really sure what the point of saying that is. Moan about a player, and the player scores, but then act like it was a bad thing that he scored cos it was injury time??? What if he missed the target and Tamworth go up the other end and score, then score again from the restart? It finishes 2 - 2! I don't think any of the spurs players covered themselves in glory in any way, but would it have been better If he didn't score at all? They all need to do alot better but this is what the fa cup is all about. Small teams against big teams and anything can amd sometimes does happen. It's why we love the fa cup. I'm more concerned with spurs losing to teams like Ipswich in the league. Not having a bad game against Tamworth but still winning 3 nil and into the next round. Villa next in the cup, let's hope brennan doesn't score in injury time of extra time against them hey?
Just like the Danish cup. I love the FA cup and seeing the smaller teams go up against the giant multi million dollar teams. Also there is something about your small stadiums over there that I love. They are so distinct and quaint. Except for maybe the fake grass, but you definitely find that over here too.
Needs must regarding the fake grass sometimes.. most of the Scottish league are artificial too.. actually ALL the top teams have real grass woven into artificial grass - it's why they stay divot and bobble free among other benefits
I just don't have the time unfortunately as these are very much quickly recorded in one take during any spare time and I talk about too many different things to then go back through. It's just a video podcast really.
If Maddison had scored one of his two chances in the first half, and Timo had scored from one of his three great opportunities, the whole conversation would be different. Bissouma was excellent and did a great job. He never gave up the fight. The great mistake was using Timo as a centre forward. He's about the WORST choice he could have made. Put Lankshear in, for God's sake. We shot ourselves in the foot AGAIN. A real mistake by Ange. Solanke got beaten up and had no effect. Spence was great as usual. Sonny did a bit, and Kulu did fine.
Hoy, supporters. Stop your moaning. It's a rebuild with some excellent talent already and more to come. Don't be a repeat of Arsenal TV, moan, moan, moan. Get behind the players and staff who are giving everything

He is surely now a starter, drop Porro when Destiny is back. Porro has a terrible game too
This was their cup final, we looked knackered, the turf and the cold weather was a leveler... it was a tad embarrassing but I'm not down about it. It was 11 men up for it vs 11 men that werent. We got the win eventually and happy to delete this from the memory
Saw you on TH-cam video with Big Ange after match interview.
Once again another fantastic video Alasdair
Great Stuff Alasdair! The little swing through MIB/ Postecoglou and Spence!
Again, thank you very much for your service, Ali 🙏
Thanks Ali, working whilst listening to you makes life much easier! Didn’t want it to end. But hope you slept well. 😆👍🏼
I feel tremendous human sympathy for Timo Werner. He has thoroughly broken by his experiences in English football. Having said that though i think in all honesty when everyone is fit he will struggle to even make the bench as others are just better options now.
Spurs made hard work of that game but the important thing is that we are through to the next round. Well done on making the trip up to Tamworth.
Dragusin was also wrestling with their centre forward a bit too often and was already on a yellow card. Probably safer to take him off at that point.
Werner needs to see the sports psychologist. It's a mental thing. I'm sure he's scoring in practice.
Only Klopp can help him
Al, I just want to add. Love the puffer jacket, and the intensity in the post-match interview on the pitch. Your eyes were laser focused when Ange was speaking. Astute professional. I’m bet you didn’t miss a word 😂
It's a very warm jacket!
I think he is under pressure to play him.
Think it was probably in hope he would score and get some kind of confidence boost. And to be fair he should have
@johnisonhisbike exactly.. I was disappointed but that is what I thought his rationale was with playing him but he's irredeemable at this point
Maybe Ange was hoping Tamworth would make Timo an offer this transfer window. I think I heard Andy Peaks say at one point "That Timo looks about our level"
Needed this on a 7 hour trip at 4 am this morning Ali! Thanks lad!
On the positive side- 2 for 2 CleanSheets with Zinsky, 42 goals scored (#2 PL), 5 players scoring…
As regards long throws Wrexham used this tactic to good effect in their promotion pushes. I would like to see Spurs use it just as a surprise tactic occasionally. It can cause panic in opponents defence and may be useful when playing against a 8 man defence.
Thanks Ali, it’s been a while since I have listened to you still great 👍
I think for most fans, Johnson is just as frustrating to watch as Werner, despite his goals. I don't get why he often seems so detached, not confident, not going into 1v1s, but then goes on to shush the crowd when he scores. If he feels as though he has a point to prove, then you'd imagine he'd be having a proper go at it...
Full marks to Tamworth for their performance. It is really unfortunate that the fixture calendar has become so full that they have done away with 3rd round replays as they really deserved one, going into extra time the fitness of full time professionals and the big names from the bench were going to be too much
Tamworth deserved the replay, they were unlucky not to knock us out on the 95th min. We were shockingly dreadful, embarrassing.
They didn’t score a goal, we scored 3, we move.
Sorry Timo.
Facts
The bloke who works for Zara played well for Tamworth.
😂😂😂😂
Was about to go to bed since I have work tomorrow but I opened TH-cam & saw this. Thanks for keeping us updated constantly Mr. Gold
Yeah I’m good looking back on this one in a few years and gaslighting myself to thinking it was never in any doubt.
Tom Tonks of Tamworth throws torpedos! Thanks again for the video - yesterday was a frustrating watch and ultimately a flattering score line
More depth charges than torpedo.
Have you started the Archie Gray Appreciation Society yet? I'm waiting to enroll🤍We have a gem of a player but just such a good ambassador of the club, hopefully for a long time and take the baton from Sonny eventually.
Hi Ali, I noticed that you were the main man when Ange post got the interview on TV. You were right in the middle of the screen nice one.
COYS
Never had any illusions that this game was easy thought we would power on in the 2nd half but did not happen
The noise level from some fans and pods has gone back to the negative narrative infact some were still negative after the Liverpool game.
I Support the club and whilst frustrating for the past 40 years i do not slag them off and it all gets out of hand, if Pods want to slate the club, players (often to a personal level) why do they follow us - go and support the gooners as they clearly do not give a monkeys about the club i support
Hence i will always listen to You, last Word of Spurs and the Spurstalkshow have a balanced narrative and looks to where the club is going
As a positive Archie Gray what a lad, he is so so good and a managers dream, future England and Spurs Captain
Don’t forgetOhSo Spurs -great and balanced pod
Hi Alasdair thanks for the great vlog very informative as always thanks for all your hard work take care stay safe
Kinsky has kept more clean sheets than Forster. 😂 He's only been here a week. 😊
💯% clean sheets and wins. That's my takeaway from a potential banana-skin tie
Forster should not have started...ever. This is the fault of Ange. Forster doesn't even belong in the National League. He's that bad.
You don't need much in the way of evidence when formulating your opinions, do you?
There’s a man who had a long day!! great vid again Ali!! 👍👍
Call Netflix Ali - the Ange/Djed buddy cop series is what we need! 😂
We always struggle to break down low blocks. Don’t get me started on our wingers. What I don’t understand is why we persisted in getting it out wide when our crossing was shocking and the wingers couldn’t beat their man.
For all those that are “Ange In”, this guy has us 8pts off of relegation.
Breaking news: Daniel Levy (Spurs CEO) spotted rifling through the sales rack at Zara Tamworth branch....😮
Nice to see you on the Telly. And on chris cowling show . With u in the bk round. Getting an inter vew with ange
I still really want a LB to rotate with Udogie. Spence should be rotation for Porro.
Thanks, Ali. Another victory for Spurs and I will not apologize for being happy they won. Onto the NLD where I hope we get a positive result. For me, it doesn’t matter how you win, it’s that you win. Thanks again. COYS!
We should play Timo as a false nein
spurs fans aren't very patient. What did Klopp do in the first two years?
yep
You are ignorant of our history, best zip it before you spout out garbage any more like that.
We are into the next round which is the most important thing. But Porro, Werner, Johnson...very poor..
Playing a team of bricklayers, financial advisors and office workers is never easy. Waiting until these guys, who work 5 days a week, to tire in extra time was a tactical masterstroke from the football genius who is Big Ange.
😂
Johnson may be our top svorer but yhat says more about how poor our front line is rsther than how good he is. During the 90 mins he was one of the worst on the pitch he only came alive after their heads went down.
He played the best pass of the game to set Timo up.
If I’m not mistaken, Bergvall was the only Spurs player to do a slide tackle yesterday
...and probably immediately regretted it!
artificial pitches are probably quite common in sweden.
Wish we had something like the FA Cup in USA. It’s one of the coolest traditions in sports I’ve ever seen. Never let it go.
Lamar Hunt US Open Cup?
You have the tanking tradition! Fans love to see their team lose for a high draft pick that could be a bust anyway.
We do, but MLS doesn’t want to participate. Also wish they weren’t afraid of promotion/relegation, but that’s a whole other thing
@@Sam79907 Billionaire owners don't want relegation, they want to make money. It's always about money than tradition. But having everyone having a chance to dream big is the coolest thing ever as a supporter
Spurs have won 10 and drawn 1 of last 12 games at Villa!
I think the one we drew stopped us getting 4th place and let the Arsos in .
When I heard that Spurs were recruiting, I half expected it to be followed by "... we've posted adverts for a new CB and CF".
We were very lucky, Alistair. I saw your post at the station in the morning..it looked very cold.
Ali, the camera was looking right at you in the post-match on field Ange interview. You looked like an extra from Monty Python "what have the romans ever done for us?"
What channel was that?
The magic of the F.A. Cup 😊
Disappointed not to see Yang or Lankshear or any academy players given time on pitch yesterday
Oh yeah, I almost forgot about Yang! I wonder when we'll see him?
Radu was on a yellow and was beginning to get involved in a wrestling match with their forwards.
It really looked like he was being taken off before he was sent off so I don’t think it was injury-related.
What was Ange thinking starting Werner and leaving Lankshear on the bench?
Ange probably preferred to risk Timo on that pitch
Thanks Ali… We won, Arsenal lost and can’t wait for Wednesday.
Werner missed a few but at least he had a few to miss. We need to talk about Brennan. He literally couldn’t show against a non-league defender. Not a ball across the box, not a single one-on-one take on. Nothing in defence. Tamworth played around him like a bollard… then with Pedro behind him we are weak down the right.
Spot on. Brennan has to do a lot more in general. It wasn’t just this game. I appreciate he has contributed with goals and assists all season, but his overall play needs a massive improvement
Brennon scored!
Pedro Porro is a below average defender but makes up for it via his attack. I think he plays the wrong position. He should be a midfielder.
@ made a huge difference in injury time of extra time true
Saw you on a video of the impromptu press conference on the pitch after the game. That Ali Gold bloke gets everywhere 😅
I love your coverage but pls.pls.pls add timestamps 😢
I just don't have the time unfortunately as these are very much quickly recorded in one take during any spare time and I talk about too many different things to then go back through. It's just a video podcast really.
If you're too busy to watch/listen to the entire video, what makes you think Ali has the time?! 😂
I went to watch AFTV yesterday after the Man U game & they win hands down - much harder on their team than ours - again its entitlement
