    Brienne's feeling of floating above herself watching the horror as if it was happening is a real thing, its a coping mechanism of a brain called dissociation. Its a out of body experience where brain tries to keep your consciousness safe from extreme trauma by pulling it away from the present. Absolutely golden writing G.R.R.

    • @pyropulseIXXI
      @pyropulseIXXI 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It has nothing to do with your 'brain keeping your consciousness safe..." Who the F comes up with such a dumb explanation....
      Your brain cannot project your consciousness, and if it could, 'sending it outside' would do nothing to protect it, as your brain can easily be destroyed, and there goes your 'consciousness.'
      No; consciousness is external to the brain to begin with; it is more fundamental than physical reality itself.
      out of body experiences are super weird and we have no idea how or why they work. People can achieve them in a number of different ways, and in each way, new information is gained from being outside your body, so it cannot be a construction of the brain, as people claim.
      That is, something can be behind something from your point of view, but when you go 'out of body,' you can see it, and later, when you return to your body, you can rely what you saw. You can obviously control for this, and people report back information it was impossible to know unless they literally really left their body
      It goes beyond t his to when people 'died' in a hospital, or went OOB during surgery. They would report what cars drove by, what color a car was when something happened, or report on events that were going on outside the room, or outside the hospital, and obviously reported back exactly what happened in the hospital room.
      There is just to much evidence of consciousness existing as a primary 'substance,' while the brain is a mere anchor for our consciousness to interact with the physical world.
      SO no, your brain doesn't "project your consciousness" to protect it.... that makes no sense, because under this materialistic worldview, your consciousness would still die once your brain gets caved in

      @@pyropulseIXXI So do you have anything to base your opinions on or is this a "dude trust me bro" situation? • @raptatta
      @raptatta 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@TheNarghes firstly, i highly respect your work as a mental professional and trust you know what you're talking about, so i hope this doesn't come across as argumentative at all. but out of curiosity, what was wrong with what op said? i'm not a professional, but i myself have been in and out of psychiatric help since i was a teenager (i'm in my late 20's now). when my therapist was helping me understand my dissociative episodes, this is how she described them to me, especially when i dissociated when experiencing the trauma.
      when going through the tougher moments in my life i frequently experienced the "floating above" myself feeling too. personally, during my episodes i always feel as though i'm looking in on myself from a third perspective or "watching myself through a screen". perhaps op's comment is leaving out context, but it is factual that dissociation can be a reaction to the trauma in order for the psyche to protect itself.

      I heard the reason they didn't do Lady Stoneheart was because George himself hadn't come up with a way to conclude that storyline yet, and God knows that man is not quick about resolving shit, so the showrunners decided not to risk starting something they'd have no way of finishing in time.

    The scene involving Bran gets worse. After Bran is done warging into Summer he wakes up to find that Coldhands had come back with pork meat because he had "found a sow". I find it hard to believe that after them all being hungry for a long time Coldhands had found a sow right after killing a bunch of Night's Watch deserters. And we know from Sam's chapters that human flesh when cooked looks and smells a lot like pork. So I think Bran ate human flesh in human form too.

    What should've happened is Sansa returning home to wed Ramsay, only to find her former best friend- Jeyne Poole- already locked up and kept as a tortured concubine... Alongside Theon. Ramsay would boast about what he did to "fake Arya" to Sansa, and Sansa would have to perpetuate the ruse and pretend that Jeyne is in fact Arya.
    Now that would've been brilliant and more loyal to canon.

    I'd really have wanted show Euron to be more like book Euron, he's a pretty wild character and it's also implied that he's actually a pretty big deal in the story of the books, while in the show he's little more than a sadistic horndog with a hard on for Cersei, i really hope they're going to juice his character up a bit before the end of the show and make him tie into the plot a bit more in the last episodes as i still really like him as a character, he does have some good scenes and i like his antics in the show but i just think they could do the character more justice.

    I stumbled across the book series (Storm of Swords was the newest at the time) when I was in 6th grade at the local library. The most disturbing scene to me was when Arya was being death marched by the Mountain and a 4 year old boy wouldn't stop crying for his dead mother. So, he was smashed in the head (or face) with a mace. Something about brutality of innocents chills me to the bone. Sadly this isn't fantasy. The worst parts and character is definitely Ramsey. He’s so realistic and that’s what makes it scary. He gets off by inflicting pain and misery on people. He gets joy from instilling fear and destroying someone’s identity. It’s terrifying how he can totally seem like a friend but then turns out to be the devil in disguise. Him cutting off the theons penis was way too much I felt so bad for him during that episode. He totally destroyed him and he was never the same.

    I think the way Joffrey's childhood was portrayed was moreso a way for us to see that the abuse that Robert gave to him turned him down a road of needing to please him in anyway he can. Knowing Robert loves hunting, he took the opportunity to try and show Robert what he had 'hunted' (albeit very cruelly) and Robert responds with more abuse. That's just my SUBJECTIVE perception of it. Banger video, king

    But I’m also not happy with the way the writers seemed to have gone to the other end of the extreme and diluted Euron’s character too much. There was a lot of potential to tell the story of a character who is arguably more wicked than Ramsey Bolton, who was also threatening enough to provide a sustained threat beyond the Night King and Cersei imo and seeing him being finally overcome would’ve provided untold levels of joy and satisfaction.

    hey, cool video, but it's pretty obvious that lady hornwood tried to eat her fingers because she was starving...

      I assumed that Ramsey had flayed and chopped off her fingers the same as Theon. Her eating her fingers was just an excuse for why her corpse was missing them.

    Euron was WAAAY more badass in the books. Like legit a man to be feared. In the show he was just an asshole that made sexual jokes all the time, pretty disappointing.

    I think that Bolton soldier 'Locke' is a combination of Amory Lorch, Cargo Hoat 'the goat' and maybe another

    To me Tyrion’s scar not being that bad is fine because Cersei said she heard he lost half his nose so that implies the books and really it’s easy to exaggerate someone’s scar to worse than it actually is

    1) you forgot vargo hoat burns jaimie's hand until he passes out, left it rot and surrounded by pus for days before cutting it off.
    2) Tyrion's first love and wife. The one that breaks my heart more than anything. Jaimie decides to introduce Tyrion to a virgin whore (i forgot her name) when they were younger. But when Tywin found out about this he summoned his men and raped her by turn, Tyrion's turn is the last. I hope in the end of the story Tyrion will meet her again, not that i expected a happy ending though.
    3) Somebody mentioned about the unsullied training when they was child. Yes, they were told to kill a puppy which has been their partner for quests and stuff, and then murder a newborn infant infront of their mothers.
    4) Patchface. Myb he's more to disturbing than dark, or myb both. A dimwitted clown character who often sing some disturbing stuff to shreen that actually come true for the following few chapters. His backstory also mysterious af, which makes him more creepy. If i'm not mistaken stannis' men found him (used to be a very genius dude) from far east but their fleet crushed by storm. 3 days later they found patchface ashore.. with a new character.
