1. Ever heard of enemies to lovers? Or enemies with benefits?
2. Most of the fics on Ao3 are explicit with some form of non-con, degradation or powerplay so I'd say it works. They're literally the definition of hate sex, the "I hate you and am so smitten by you and hate that even more" dynamic. Definitely not healthy and they never should nor would get into an actual relationship, I see it more as having fun hurting each other on occasion until they either die or Hoffman gets arrested.
