Reading the instructions manual for this particular device is useless. The English version is a shitty translation from the Chinese original. "Self time modification set. Under the computer seat surface state, click the right mouse button once; choose-create new-text document; create a file on the desktop as the picture; open the text document; set the time; format (year and day, hour, minute, second); ... connect the machine with the computer by USB cable; when U disc mode occurs, copy the text document into root directory"

I set mine up and turn it on and then plug it in to an external usb power source so it can go for weeks at a time but I want to be able to turn it off without having to unplug it and plug it into my computer(that's the only way I've been able to figure out how to shut off motion detect). Connect it with the included cable to the computer. A window will pop up on the computer screen and there will be a folder that appears. Inside the folder will be the video. You can open the video with most media players.
Mine does not go into 1080p mode. It stays in photo mode when red LED light is on. I tried holding M down for 2 seconds but nothing happens. I also tried the reset switch but nothing changes. Any idea on how to force it into 1080p? I also have not been able to set it to night vision mode nor motion detection mode.
I plugged it to my laptop expecting to see a prompt on how to view recordings but nothing happens when I press power button. How can I view the recordings do I need an app or something to view?

Good review! I have one myself, and I don't like the NON flashing led WHEN RECORDING.... "Is it working or not???" Anyway, when it connects to the external power source, the camera starts recording automatically, that is exactly what we want in a dashcam setup, BUT, it starts in 720p mode, and of course we want it to record in 1080p automatically. Do you know if there is a way to get that setup? Same with IR lights, you must switch them on MANUALLY, and when you restart the camera (when reconnecting to USB power) the setting is lost. Furthermore, it seems to be imposible to change settings with the buttons when the camera is charging at USB power ....... NOT COOL..... Or am I doing something wrong?
Sadly is hard to find the original one, ali is selling it fake now, it doesn’t even come with real infra red night vision anymore, you where lucky getting the real stuff! Best regards
Mine works fine in all modes, the big problem I have is that when in motion detection mode I only get around 15 clips, I’ve checked to see if the card is full and it’s not, so I can only assume the battery must only last for a very short while. “Anyone else got his problem???”
What if you don’t stop the recording and the camera cuts off (meaning that the battery dies) would the video still be saved on its own? if you don’t stop it from recording?

Erm, yes, I'm aware it's got motion detection. However, instead of talking us through the given action statistics, I *really* want to see if it indeed *does* what it's *supposed to do* (ie, sensitivity regarding detecting motion, and turning on/off after 5 minutes), bc it's a pretty essential feature imo! PS: Battery life, on account of the latter function, would be of considerable interest too, who cares about 'selfies'?!
date/time stamp: you can choose for a date & time stamp to show up in you video or not. The camera will put a text-file on the card (20150101235530 / yyyymmddhhmmss) that you can correct in a text editor. After that there is a space plus a 'Y' (Yes) for the stamp to show up. If you don't want the stamp to show up, just change that 'Y' to a 'N' (No) and safe to the card. Simple as that.

I found this in m old stuff and im having trouble getting it into function. The red diode is constantly light and no buttons respond. reset doesnt work, SD card is inserted and i charged it for 2 days straight. help me out please
The procedure to go to photo mode and to motion detection mode is the same. Except you specify for motion detection you are in BLUE standby mode. So I assume you must be in RED standby mode to go to camera mode. I've tried it both ways to get to camera mode, but either way I go into motion detection mode. Can you clarify where I'm going wrong?
Excellent review AND instructions, thank you. btw, led indicator modes - 720p is blue, 1080p is blu/red(purple) and still-camera is red. However.. it's a frustrating piece of crapola. Battery doesn't last long - only 10 mins record, and drains by itself after only 40 minutes when its off! If you have IR on, it only records for 5 minutes before you need another 30 minute charge. So you think ahh, i'll run off usb power! but then it won't SD record while charging. omFg. Needs a bigger battery, and ability for external power to run its SD recording.. then it would be worth $20. cheers.
Once I hit the power button my blue light comes on then it flashes 9 times. Nothing else will happen when watching this video my camera will not do what this camera is doing. Is there something wrong with my camera?
Have you tested to see if motion detection stops recording after a certain number of minutes? I've heard once activated, it just continues recording, which would thus record over the motion incident after the card is full.
2 questions, where I need more help How do you get infrared night vision on?
