  • Roger Hodgson, co-founder of Supertramp, is the singer/songwriter of Babaji, a stunningly beautiful gem from the 1977 album, Even in the Quietest Moments. Roger pours himself into his songs and gives us these treasures that greatly touch our emotions as well as stay in our hearts and minds. Be sure to see Roger in concert and you will witness firsthand a show that will stay with you. www.RogerHodgson.com / rogerhodgson
Roger also gave us eternal classics such as Give a Little Bit, Take the Long Way Home, Breakfast in America, The Logical Song, Dreamer, It's Raining Again, School, Fool's Overture, Hide in Your Shell and many more. He has also released several spectacular solo albums. He is the Voice you have been listening to on most of the classic hit songs that were recorded by Supertramp, the Voice people all over the world love. Audiences are once again experiencing the magic & spirit that Roger Hodgson created with Supertramp. Although Roger & Supertramp's other co-founder shared writing credit, they actually wrote & composed separately with each singing their own respective songs. bit.ly/1Kfgu0W

Share your experience of Roger's shows or what his songs mean to you ~
"At your concert last night - what a night!! Your voice resonated thru the ceiling uplifting our spirits and our hearts. You were amazing your voice better than ever. Your obvious delight in the audiences response was humbling. The best concert ever!!"
"Thank-You Roger for the wonderful gift that you give to your fans every time you perform. Your Musicianship, Melodies & Heart shone out and engulfed us as you took us back to more peaceful times in our lives."
"What a wonderful experience last night; a great sense of shared warmth; for music that has been held for years inside individuals as their own, melded with their personal memories and feelings that suddenly not only belongs to others gathered around too, but suddenly seems to belong to one man yet even more powerfully and deeply. Of course! It's the performer; the very creator and artist himself; it's HIS music, and he's playing it just a few yards away..Fantastic."
"Having listened to your music for over 30 years now, I find myself more moved and further enriched by your music as the years go on. Your music is endless. I have to say you're a true reflection of your music. An Inspiration."

Yes! The entire band. Great, great respect for Hodgson, but he owes as much to them as they to him. An extraordinary collaboration!! I love a lot of music from that era, but Supertramp are top of my list. I loved Floyd, Genesis, Jethro Tull, but some of that grows a bit heavy as the years go by. Never feel that way about this band. They continue to sparkle.

@@steelyman08 Hodgson is an ass, just because they split up and he owned the controlling aspect of their songs why limit what their fans, the people who made them famous, have to suffer.
Try to find a complete album online the isn't butchered by missing a track or 3

@@davebouchier9712 Don't tell anyone, but I completely agree! I've watched and read many Hodgson interviews over the years. It's all there if you're paying attention. But the man has become something of a sacred cow for many, and Rick Davies is often viewed as the "bad guy". It's mind boggling. Talk about a Soapbox Opera!

Never in a million years would I have ever expected SUPERTRAMP (of all 70's bands!) to write a prema-bhakti bhajan to the King of all Yogis; Yogiraj Mahavatar Babaji Trambaka Baba. Either way, I am impressed and touched, as I imagine Babaji as well is.

I haven't a clue what this song is about. I'm terribly sorry for the ignorance. But when my father got custody of me in the early 70's I remember hearing this band. And too this day, they're still one of the best bands of all time. I love the interviews.

All of my life I felt that you were listening
Watching for ways to help me stay in tune
    Lord of my dreams
Although confusion keeps trying to deceive
Oh, what is it that makes me believe in you?
Babaji, oh won't you come to me
Won't you help me face the music
Bring it out so we can sing it out
Help us to find it before we lose it
At night when the stars are near
And there's no one to keep you from coming here
And there's no one to shield me before your eyes
Is it mine, is it mine, is it mine to know?
I can see, it's not too good to me
To be afloat in the sea of glory
Oh Babaji, oh how you comfort me
By showing me it's a different story
Your light in the dark is real
And I know that you know it is how I feel
When I see the reflection that's in your eyes
Is it mine, is it mine, is it mine to know?
Babaji, have you a song for me
To tell the world of its guardian angel
Bring it out so we can sing it out
Oh must you always remain a stranger?
At night when the stars are near
And I long for delusion to disappear
Then I see the reflection that's in your eyes
Is it time, Is it time, Is it time, Is it time
Is it time, Is it time, Is it time to know
    oh, oh, oh
I said I'm calling you Babaji - Babaji
I said I'm calling you Babaji - Babaji
oh-oh, sing it Bababji - Babaji
Can you hear me Babaji - Babaji

Babaji, oh no vienes a mí
      Babaji, oh cómo me consuelo

'Babaji' of course has considerable emotional heft and the writing is gossamer. As an insecure, beer-swilling teen , the song acquired even greater meaning in my constant 1970s alcohol haze. The excess beer merely left a taste; Supertramp left an indelible memory.

I know I'm not the generation of which this music was made for, but my god if it doesn't soothe my troubled soul. The ever-lasting quality of song to be able to address those existential quandaries each generation faces is sublime, and Hodgson uses this fact to its fullest potential when writing songs.

Saw Roger Friday night (Aug. 10/2012) at the Portland, OR. Washington Park Amphitheater. I am a mid 50 male and have not seen a concert in a long time, they often seem too crowded and stifling. Besides, after Led Zep 3x, the Who, Jethro Tull etc., etc., even got talked into seeing John Denver (glad I went), what else was there? Well, Roger Hodgson for one. The out door setting, plus Rodger Hodgson, could not have been more perfect. Sooo glad! Catch him this tour if possible.
    Cheers!

    Babaji Lyrics :
All of my life I felt that you were listening
Watching for ways to help me stay in tune
Oh Lord of my dreams, although confusion
    Keeps trying to decieve
Oh what is it that makes me believe in you?
    Oooooooh, I know I know I know I know
    Ouh yeah!
    Babaji
Oh won't you come to me
Oh won't you help me to face the music
    Bring it out
So we can sing it out
Help us to find it before we lose it
At night when the stars are near
And there's no one to keep you from coming here
And there's no one to shield me before your eyes
Is it mine, is it mine, is it mine to know?
I said that I can see
It's not too good for me
To be afloat in the sea of glory
    Oh Babaji
    Oh how you comfort me
By showing me it's a different story
Your light in the dark is real
And I know that you know it is how I feel
When I see the reflection that's in your eyes
Is it mine, is it mine, is it mine to know?
    Babaji
Have you a song for me
To tell the world of its guardian angel
    Oh bring it out
So we can sing it out
Oh must you always remain a stranger?
At night when the stars are near
And I long for delusion to disappear
Then I see the reflection that's in your eyes
Is it time, is it time, is it time
Is it time, is it time, is it time
    Is it time to know?
    Oh ho-oh oh-ho
    I said I'm calling you
    Babaji (Babaji)
    I said I'm calling you
    Babaji (Babaji)
    Ouh-oh-ho say you
    Babaji (Babaji)
    Oh can you hear me
    Babaji (Babaji)
    I tell I'm calling you
    Babaji Babaji (Babaji)
    Oh Babaji (Babaji)

Gracias Roger.

I used to hear this song when I was 7 or 8 years old, thinking he was saying "Poverty". :-D. I loved Supertramp because of my older siblings. Now in my 40s, just now I learned he was saying "Babaji", which interestingly has more meaning for me now that I am on a yoga spiritual path. :-)

Of all my concert ticket stubs in my scrapbook, Supertramp concerts are the most numerous. Growing up in Toronto, Ontario Canada during the 1970's allowed one to see all the top bands of the era. Although some would tour through Montreal, near all them came through Toronto. We were spoiled for sure. A yearly concert seeing Supertramp was standard for many of us. And this album simply ruled right through 1979.

Love this classic. I can remember specifically smoking weed when I was 16 in 2007 after school and hearing this and it made my entire perspective on life change. I don’t know why, I think it’s just how the piano sounds so hectic, with the weird drums timing and Roger’s amazing voice. All these years later it still sounds great. Thank you for this
