Those whammies were out in Full Force. They were out to Get Quincey and Gil. Allen on the other Hand did great and was in the whammy free Zone this time
That first question in round 2 was quite interesting, since whenever I find blank video tapes, by far movies are the most common things that I find on them (even from material recorded around 1984). That said, a lot of movies were taped over soaps as I've found a number of clips and/or partial episodes on them. I did recently find some Beta tapes with some General Hospital episodes from the '80s recently, many containing Luke & Laura scenes on them.
Originally, only the Torch Whammy was used. However, it actually first appeared during the end credits, which have been cut, thanks to the Whammies at GSN. And yes, pun intended.
It was only 11 shows after the Michael Larson game that was actually a two-part episode which was kept top secret for almost 20 years because Bill Carruthers did not want them rebroadcast. As a matter of fact USA Network never aired any of the shows featuring the first home player sweepstakes in its entirety.
GSN ran those episodes during their “Feast of Favorites” marathon in November 2003 and later “The 50 greatest game shows of all time” in 2006 when it was ranked at #13.
Gil and Quincey have three Whammies in round 1. Both players in the danger zone. Very painful to start round 2 that way. Quincey is the first to get 4 whammies. Gil also gets 4 whammies signifying another victory for Allen! Good thing he had no Whammies.
Quincey and Gil were thinking of 1983 when Jack Nicholson won for “Terms of Endearment.”

That stumper question I've seen in blooper shows. Classic!
I know...it was a good one too. LOL

Quincey And Gil Both Hit a Fourth Whammy At 14:33 And 16:48
The Whammy on Peter's shoulder at the end was funny.

It was a great embarrassment to them, and I can see why. A pattern someone had memorized on a show that promotes luck?
What episode did the "lose a whammy" square debut? Both Quincy and Gil could have stayed in the game longer if that square was on the board now.
Episode #258
@@robertlalexander4083 Boy, where was that square when Quincy and Gil both needed it. What rotten luck for the both of them.
September 17, 1984. Replaced a $2500 slide in #16

Gil also getting 4 whammies could have signified Allen playing against the house.
Allen could have been playing against the house since both Quincey and Gil had 3 whammies and $0.
