- Playing around with the new Visco plug-in (and some Live 12 modulation, and eventually effects at the very end).
For the CDM review:
Between samples and synth, sound design and performance-and with a heaping dose of machine learning-Visco is a new way of imagining a beat construction plug-in. But what you'll probably notice first is that you get to squish around a futuristic blob of goo like it's space-alien Silly Putty.
Now everyone will be able to make beats like aphex twin did 20 years ago
Most innovative drum synth I’ve seen in a while
This visualizer is what I see in my mind when I have synesthesia
yeeeaaa, that was a nice visco jam
0:36 and hit pause. You're welcome.
=D
People are freaking out. It's just a sonogram with both axis flipped. The trick is to vectorise the sound - it needs to be extracted from the noise and other sounds, and then it's shaped in this f/t 2D plane, only to be reconverted to audio. IRCAM's Max was the first to have such a feature, 30 years ago. So it's IT a sampler, except it has some vectorised control dimensions in sonogram space. It's not resynthezing the audio using either additive, subtractive, or modal techniques. Max also offered paint tools so you could manually tweak portions of the 'blobs' you were interested in.
Appreciate you putting me on IRCAM! Didn't know about those devices.
