As a packaging designer this both intrigues and terrifies me. Although it could be an incredibly powerful tool I feel like it takes away much of the fun, satisfaction and fulfillment of creating something beautiful from nothing. I’m trying to figure out if I should see this as creating my own reference or simply stealing ideas from the internet. I once worked at an agency where the designers always copied existing packaging and applied it to their designs. If you walk down any supermarket aisle you’ll quickly notice that this practice is obviously widespread. Perhaps packaging design was always mostly about copying others. But artists have always called it “inspiration”.
Graphic design isn't art, this is the lesson Ai will force many creative to come to terms with. Design serves one purpose, profit or change, but mostly profit. There was a surgeon who thought his work was so beautiful he carved his initials into his patient not too long ago. As beautiful of a job as he did, it was not art, it served a purpose and that was it. Design is no different. If Ai is faster and cheaper, that will win for the majority of the market. There will always be a space for hand crafted design paid for at a premium but most brands and clients just want to get into the market fast to capture the momentum of the market before it pivots and they lose the opportunity to make a profit. I also hate that Ai has changed my own mindset to this, but it's the harsh reality today.
Wow that was a masterclass! So many actionable takeaways that inspired me to start playing around with packaging designs on ChatGPT. So much fun but AI anxiety is also real 😅Thank you for the level-headed advice and soothing conversation in these rapidly changing times.
So many people are intimidated by Ai as we see the speed at which it’s evolving, we need an easy entry point to start. This is that intro this is that invitation. Would love to see what you create!
Very informative video, and thanks a lot for the sustainability materials, I've been very interested on packaging I am very excited to start my journey on it
If you're still on the fence if Ai will replace creative jobs, you can stop. Ai will replace many creatives. The question now is, are you prepared to weather the upcoming Ai apocalypse or will you be replaced first?
I agree, This is the gorilla in the room we are not really talking about. If you take a macro view of the design "business" you will quickly see the potential impact of AI on the design process.
Any agency, brand, or creative that's not talking about Ai right now is going to fall behind those that are. I like how you put quotes around "business" because design is a business that many want to elevate to an art form. But at the end of the day design serves a purpose, and that purpose if profit. If you can increase profits and reduce time because of Ai, then that's just what will happen. Hand craft will still demand a premium but most startups and brands out there aren't worried about craft they're worried about staying above water. @@joer1402
Thanks so much for having me on Evelio! I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation, and I hope other creatives are having more convos around AI.⚡
You've single-handedly changed the conversation around text to image development using Ai. Amazing work!
Your channel is a hidden gem
I thought Midjourney was the Ai to win the race to design packaging, but here is ChatGPT eating Midjourney's lunch.

@@packagingunboxdI’d have to agree with everything you said.
Have you ever read Steal like an artist by Austin Kleon, I think you would love it and yes All creative work builds on what came before.

Inspiring.
Wish it included at least one sample prompt we could use as a starting point.
As discussed pick a brand and start playing.

Love it. Let me know how the sustainable packaging materials guide helps you or if there’s anything else that could help. idpdirect.com/design_guides/
what are you waiting for? Adey build it! build it! build it!
It's coming!
@@packagingunboxd when?
If chat gpt is a language model that only generates text, how does she use it to generate images? Or do you just use it to generate ideas?
ChatGPT also generates images. You can see how here:

Midjourney's ability to generate high-quality images makes it ideal for producing product packaging designs.
Packaging and other things too.

😥
Awesome, this absolutely informative
Thanks! Adey made it so easy to get into testing Ai for design.
Amazingggg!
God I hate AI
Hating it won’t stop it, so what do you do, Ignore it, embrace it, or rail against it?
