Hi friends. I noticed some of you questioned the meaning which I give the word "maximalism". When I refer to myself as being a "maximalist", I don't really talk about it in a material sense. To me maximalism comes in a form of art, nature, interiors, any other creative expression - my eye gravitates to interesting details, I like to search for meanings and poetry in such things. That is not to say that I'm not attracted to clean and simple lines, but they don't inspire me as much. Then, when it comes to hoarding - in general I think it's okay to own things if they bring you joy. But also, if eventually you grow tired of them, they can be recycled or repurposed. For example, I like to collect books, mostly hard cover. They are timeless, and I do believe that they will never lose their value. In case (though unlikely) I won't need them anymore, there will always be someone who will. But having said that, I don't actually own many things at all. I'm minimal in my belongings both by choice and by necessity. I don't own a home, I can only utilise the space I temporarily rent. I like to move around, so I try not to own many things for that reason too. But everything I own - it's not "minimalist" in a form of expression. Now about labels - I reserve the right to define things that hold a certain meaning to me in my own way. 😀After all, these are all such vague terms. I don't believe in hard labels. We all give meaning to our own lives and define things according to our own experience. And I'm okay with that. I'm also always open to healthy discussions. Therefore I don't actually call myself a minimalist or maximalist in real life. But if I had to choose to call myself one - I'm definitely more maximalist than not.
I’m a maximalist as well. I felt guilty for so long but recently realized I am not a hoarder I just love my things and I keep it clean and organized but I cherish my things and that’s ok
I would not call this “maximalism,” but simply “mindful and passionate living.” Being self-aware, knowing what you have, what you need, and what you want in life…being creative, and using your material possessions to help achieve your goals. You’re efficient, but you’re not obsessed with efficiency. You consume things, but you don’t consume so much that you lose track of what matters most.
This video put to words my inner struggle lately. What you said about staying in tune with one’s nature hit me. I am a former minimalist who has recently let that life style go. I have felt so guilty like I’m not being efficient…like now that I have more inventory, that my peace will be gone and chaos will ensue. That the only way to live a good and organized life is to be minimal. I feel my creative soul was being caged by being minimal. I had barely any personality in my home which I grieved. I felt stressed all the time trying to figure out what I didn’t need and could get rid of instead of just sitting in my home and enjoying it. I’m an artist to my core and I love to make my home “me” which is eclectic, magical, and colorful. I want everything in my home to tell a story and to be cozy. I was more stressed trying to figure out what I could live without instead of just being intentional, keeping my favorite things…even if it didn’t look minimal. Thank you for this video! Hi. Grannie Cyndy from South Australia here. I 'm almost 72yo and just found your channel. I just loved it. I really loved your suggestion that nature isn't minimalist. Soooo true. If you give a garden it's right conditions it will fill every available empty spot with something new in no time at all. And then come the insects and birds to flit amongst it.
Your video really resonates with me. I appreciate minimalism. But "living in color" brings me such joy. Most of my stuff has meaning and sentiment behind it. And touches my heart. I try to be sensible in my purchases and the environment is ever present in my mind. Although I am far from perfect in this regard, I honestly do my best. I'm following your channel now. Thanks for your content sweetie.🌹
Both and anything in between are all valid choices. 😊 I don't know what title I'd be given but I like to anxiety proof my home and make it feel like a simple bed and breakfast. Whatever tools it takes to get there I'm all for them.
I so enjoyed this video!! I am not a minimalist. Some say I am a maximist. I love being surrounded with pretty things that "Speak Joy" to me! Every piece has a story! I don't shop big stores as often, but find delight in Thrift Shopping. When I get tired of it, I donate it. I am getting better at decluttering and I too tend to move frequently. We just downsized from a 650 sq foot apartment to a 400 sq foot Studio Apartment and I couldn't be happier!! It gave me a opportunity to purge and rethink how I want to live! New subscriber here 🤗
Dried Rose Tea: I completely forgot to add that I was making a dried rose tea in this video! You simply collect rose petals from fragrant roses (preferably bright pink or red, as lighter ones will lose colour), wash them and dry between sheets of kitchen towel until completely dry. It took me approximately 5 days to have them completely dried. I love mixing rose with fresh mint, but you can also add it to desserts.
So beautiful!!! Years ago I prayed that I would appreciate the little things where ever I was and where ever I went - day to day. It worked!! Sometimes I feel like I need to tone it down, but why??? Why tone down expressing joy in all the beauty and good things around us?!!! It’s a privilege not afforded to everyone. So, do it! And enjoy! ❤️
I think we are made to believe that we need to tone it down a little too much. To not be a bother. To not express emotion. And whilst indeed, we need to know when it’s appropriate to be or behave a certain way, sometimes we take it too far and hide ourselves at such depths, that we no longer are able to be ourselves. Expressing jot and living fully should never be about “toning it down” 😊
Creatives usually never succeed in being a minimalist. Only "steady" personalities. I have nine children and a big farm. The more the merrier I say! More plates for more people to love! :)
Thank you so much! 😊 I can relate to what you said so much. I’ve always been messy and maximalist as a child, but learned to hide pretty well. Perhaps we should all let our inner child come to light sometimes?
It’s a misconception that minimalism is deprivation. While it can lead to that, it’s also not the “rule". I have learned a lot about Minimalism, and I always thought it meant I had to get rid of everything, all worldly possessions, but I've come to realise that it's about letting go of the excess, the items that you don't get value from, to make room for the things that you love and bring you joy. It's about giving yourself boundaries, as to not over spend and accumulate stuff you don't need or simply regret after a short time. It's about being intentional with the items you welcome into your life, that truly light up your soul and space. They are tools to help you do the things you love, like hobbies. Or they are pieces of beauty that you choose to surround yourself with, to make your space your own. If you love and desire those trinkets, then you should have them in your home. But going crazy and wasting money on overconsumption is wasteful, and being a harder of things is not a healthy mindset. I think we need to find a healthy middle ground, not either ends of the extreme lifestyle, of extreme Minimalism or Minimalism/hoarding. A balance. We need to find our happy place. And at the end of the day, we don't own these things, we are merely borrowing them from our children. Oneday we will leave a big mess for them to clean up, and I'd rather not be a hoarder or maximalist when that day comes. Having less stuff is freedom.
This was a beautiful video, but I don't think maximalist describes your lifestyle. A simple life is a much better description, somewhere in the middle, I would say. An intentional life.
And to be honest I think a simple, slow life is directly correlated with Minimalism. Because it's about having the things that you love, and not the excess, with intention. And that doesn't have to mean you can only have 2 plates and 2 cups. It can mean whatever you want it to mean...
Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts. I agree with everything you say. Especially when it comes to overconsumption. ☺ I think it all comes down to how we define things, and here I definitely second your opinion on putting labels on ourselves. I despise labels, to be honest. But as much as I try to avoid them, sometimes society forces us to put ourselves into categories for the ease of understanding (though it doesn't make it easy at all), hence we adopt some terms which to us seem to describe us better. From these labels misunderstandings come, but without them there's also as much misunderstanding. If only we could always have deep conversations with others and tell them what we think, believe and mean in every detail. But these are the conversations we barely ever have. Even in a 10 minute video it's sometimes hard to explain every single thought. When it comes to art and creativity - that's where I can't call myself a minimalist at all though. I love details, abundance and freedom of expression. So, perhaps, a sort of maximalism. But again, they are all labels and meanings we come up with according to our own experience. I do believe you're right though - we need a balance.
In just one video, I have got so many answers that I was looking for! Thank you so much for making this video! I'm glad that I found this in the middle of the night. Take love from Bangladesh!
I could listen to you talking for hours, and watch your slow living for hours. I really liked what you said and agree, nature is not a minimalist and I think its better to live consciously than minimally. We have to fill up our souls with beautiful things.
Aah thank you so much! 🥰 Maybe minimalism was an answer to consumerism, where by removing almost everything one would consume less naturally by having most extras taken away. Buy I began to think that maybe we don’t need to take away, but learn how to be mindful and conscious whilst still enjoying what life has to offer. Thank you for watching! 🥰
@@IamDaria You should definitely watch the video by ‚Kristen Leo‘ she just made a video with a similar point of view you like and she talks about how filling our lives with beautiful things is a way to inspire us 🤍 I think you might really enjoy it. The video was called 'Material girl'
Wow what beautiful video you have created! I feel all of your words you spoke, I have discovered all of which you say for myself also. Beautiful thing, to share you’re journey. Thank you 🙏🏻 sending you love and light. 🫶🏻
I loved this. I agree- minimalism hasn’t done much to inspire my creativity. I like keeping life simple- simple pleasures, simple foods, simple processes. Considered purchases. ❤ beautiful story telling and beautiful shots. I just subscribed x
This! Maybe this is me. I'm trying so hard to be a minimalist and it really helps me in some aspects but I also am a maximalist who like to collect something joy and spark for me (not a hoarder). I also have a hobby that make me to keep my stuffs related to my hobby.
I too could never live as a minimalist - I love lots of things I love all around me, and it would feal so soulless to me to be a minimalist. *This is delightful, it's been lovely to watch how you've grown creatively over the last months!* I love your thoughts on minimalism, while I feel calmer and more "in control" when I have less stuff I think it's often linked to staying in small apartments and moving a lot, similar to how you share. But when I visit little cottages on holiday, I find myself utterly enchanted by the magical trinkets that peek out from the corners of the room, or the stacks of colourful books adorning the walls.
Aah thank you so much! 🥰 And I love your observation. Little cottages and old homes are full of charm and little details that give them character. To some it might be too much, but really there’s nothing to take away, it’s what makes that place so magical! 😊
Minimalism includes DIY and fixing things on my own, so i need a wide arrangement of tools. Even maintaing a yard and garden requires tools. So a couple yrs ago i dropped the idea of minimalism 🤓 of course i still try to get rid of useless clutter and hoarded items. I think homeowners camnot be a minimalist unless they hire out all the maintenance etc
I really love your channel! Waiting for the rest of the cottagecore community to find you! I’m sure it will be soon :) thank you for inspiration! -Sukanti
That foxglove flower looked like a portal! Bumblebee goes into one and pops out of the other one :D Amazingly beautiful video, love how the light bounced from your cardigan onto the tree! Lit it up so brightly :)
suggestions on how to learn to forage? I work at a build from nature based school and I have students give me walnut shells, I have started collecting them but don't want them to go bad or start smelling.
Good morning Poetry of Slow Life. Excellent video (of course) with beautiful content. But that's of course to be expected from a strong self sufficient minimalist offgrid woman such as yourself. 😊😊😊😊😎😎 Thanks for sharing
How To Live In Harmony With Nature And Reduce Pollution 1. Many Production Which We Do Not Need Actually For Human Beings Has To Be Stopped We manufacture so many products and it is creating pollution. So if we minimise our products, pollution would be less. We produce so many things which we do not need, like cold drinks, leather products, potato wafers, chips, fruit juices, chocolates, biscuits, pickles, ice creams, etc. Cold drinks, fruit juices, pickles, ice creams, etc. Should be cooked at home only. If we stopped producing this things which are not required for humans, so much pollution could be reduced. If we colour the clothes pollution occurs. So if we don't colour our clothes, the pollution resulting from colouring the clothes can be stopped. Let everything remain in natural colour. 2. We Should Cook Foods In Its Natural Form We can cook rice and wheat in our homes and eat it. Rice and Wheat is produced in farms. Then it is packed and transported to big warehouses, then wholesalers buy from them and supply to retail shops. But if a manufacturing company makes bread from rice and wheat, then to make bread a manufacturing company has to be set up, machines and working staffs are needed. When a company is built many other things are also needed. Then at last a plastic pack is required to pack the breads. So if we start cooking eatable things in its natural form then we do not need many companies like bread manufacturing company, tomato ketchup, noodles, fruit jam, pizza, burger, etc., the things required for the company and the plastic pack, paper box pack and glass bottles. If done like this, so many companies will not be required and hence less pollution for the world. Also we could save our money like this. If you buy a packet of bread, it would cost you more money than if you cook wheat and rice in home. Previously before industrial revolution, we didn't have technology, but our foods were rich with nutrients. Now we have technology, but technology is polluting our foods and our foods are not rich with nutrients, and because of that also we have health problems. If this is done, then many jobs would be lost. For that many peoples should do farming and they should be given loans if they do not have enough money to start farming on their own. Food, Medicines, Surgeries and Education's should be made free to the world till the world settles down with farming. After that food, medicines, surgeries and education's should be stopped free to the world. Many people should study botany subject so that they have knowledge of plants and they should do farming. Is their any another solution, that humans won't lose jobs and also pollution would decrease. Humans have to take this step certainly instead of going on polluting the earth, making wildlife extinct and also mass extinctions of humans in future. 3. Electricity Pollution We create electricity from many types of sources like coal, water, etc., but it creates pollution. If electricity created from windmill and solar energy then no pollution occurs in the creation process. But still to manufacture windmill and solar machines pollution would occur. As I previously said that if we shut down many manufacturing companies which are producing things which are not needed for humans, then the world would not require so much electricity. If less electricity required, then less pollution generated. 4. Could We Stop Drinking Cow's and Buffalo's Milk Whatever vitamins and nutrients we get from milk, if we can get it from other eatable things, then we can stop drinking cow's and buffalo's milk. As milk has to be packed in glass bottles and plastic packs and then transported to places. All of this can be stopped. For infants whose mother's have died or mother's who cannot breast feed their infants, only for them cow's and buffalo's milk should be given. We use milk in tea and coffee. Instead of milk we must use lime with tea and coffee or just plain tea and coffee. A lime should be cut into a few pieces and cooked with tea and coffee or something else can be used instead of lime. 5. How Much Should Be The World's Population Every place should have a single house. No buildings, everything ground floor. If we do this and the whole lands of our planet earth would be occupied one day with homes, farms, forests, schools, hospitals, etc., then we would come to know how much our planet earth can have maximum population. Once the population is determined, then we have to maintain that population. For example if our earth can have a population of 10 billion peoples, then when the population reaches 10 billion, then everyone should have only one child till the population reaches 9 billion peoples. As if we have only one child then the population decreases. When population is 9 billion peoples, then everyone should have 2 children's till the population reaches 10 billion peoples. After that again we should have only one child. In this way population can be maintained.
I think there was some kind of misconception about maximalism being a bad thing, too excessive. But that simply isn't true! Everyone in this life can't possibly be a minimalist :)
Oh definitely! I was ashamed of admitting my maximalist tendencies, and actually was called maximalist when I was a teen, but in a very negative light! I just think it’s a different way of living, and it has a place to be!
I agree - especially when it’s not the same thing as hoarding or just kind of mindlessly consuming “stuff”. I think there’s still an element of the minimalism mindset in maximalism because of the intentionality and valuing the things you bring into your life 🙂💛
.i feel so depressed and am sick with these hell lyf , studies , job ,future everything..i feel like i have been allways wanted to love in the lap of Nature. A simple and normal lyf , miles away from all these fucking stuff ... I wish I could lost in such beautiful place one day . Waiting for that day😔
I realized that m inimalism is well suited for a life in the city. So you still have the resources available around you whenever you need them. As the author of "good bye things" explains. But I dont want my life in the city and there is a lot of Things you need to have just " in case" when living in the country side. Minimalism will fit better people that work as employed in urban areas. So I gave up minimalism 😂😂
Karen here. I think you hot minimalism initially wrong. It was extreme. Everyone I know has lots of color in their decor, they just dont have more than they can mentally handle or take care of, if it takes over their life. Especially with a bunch of kids who need to be lovingly raised. Most live in the burbs or country. Some are artistic, painters. Writers, bloggers etc. The title is wrong. A simpler life is better.
I see what you mean. :) Perhaps these are all labels. I'm generally exploring the subjects at an extreme, and minimalism I refer to is the extreme type of minimalism i.e. white bare walls, minimal furniture, decor, clothing, etc. The reason why I refer to it is because that's how I lived for a while. What I have right now to me is the most maximalist I've ever had. And then there is nature. My observation is that there's no such thing as minimalism in nature. It's bold and beautiful. But then, everyone will call things differently.
Hi friends. I noticed some of you questioned the meaning which I give the word "maximalism". When I refer to myself as being a "maximalist", I don't really talk about it in a material sense.
all the dresses that you wore are so pretty............I want to get some for my sister too
This video is so beautiful it somehow touched me so much I cried
Minimalism includes DIY and fixing things on my own, so i need a wide arrangement of tools. Even maintaing a yard and garden requires tools. So a couple yrs ago i dropped the idea of minimalism 🤓 of course i still try to get rid of useless clutter and hoarded items. I think homeowners camnot be a minimalist unless they hire out all the maintenance etc
Shalom! So happy i found your videos.. keep it up, so impressed 🥰
You have encapsulated beauty in your video in so many ways.
Aah thank you ❤️
Do you ever go to Aldi ? Wetherspoons ?
Does your bus ever knock ? Good for you. Skipping through a meadow. Roses on a plate. Best wishes.
I really love your channel! Waiting for the rest of the cottagecore community to find you! I’m sure it will be soon :) thank you for inspiration! -Sukanti
Thank you so much! ☺️
Very nice beautiful vlog. Thanks you
That foxglove flower looked like a portal! Bumblebee goes into one and pops out of the other one :D
Amazingly beautiful video, love how the light bounced from your cardigan onto the tree! Lit it up so brightly :)
Thank you! ☺️ Haha these bumblebees were so cute, although a tad scary! 🫣🥰
So well stated, agree!!!!

So inspiring video, love it!
suggestions on how to learn to forage? I work at a build from nature based school and I have students give me walnut shells, I have started collecting them but don't want them to go bad or start smelling.
I absolutely adore your content and accent ❤️🌲🌲 it's Christmas time wile I'm watching this
Good morning Poetry of Slow Life. Excellent video (of course) with beautiful content. But that's of course to be expected from a strong self sufficient minimalist offgrid woman such as yourself. 😊😊😊😊😎😎 Thanks for sharing
Are those foxglove flowers? And are they wild? Or in a garden?
How To Live In Harmony With Nature And Reduce Pollution
1. Many Production Which We Do Not Need Actually For Human Beings Has To Be Stopped
We manufacture so many products and it is creating pollution.
2. We Should Cook Foods In Its Natural Form
We can cook rice and wheat in our homes and eat it.
3. Electricity Pollution
We create electricity from many types of sources like coal, water, etc., but it creates pollution.
4. Could We Stop Drinking Cow's and Buffalo's Milk
Whatever vitamins and nutrients we get from milk, if we can get it from other eatable things, then we can stop drinking cow's and buffalo's milk.
5. How Much Should Be The World's Population
Every place should have a single house.
Thankyou ❤
I think there was some kind of misconception about maximalism being a bad thing, too excessive. But that simply isn't true! Everyone in this life can't possibly be a minimalist :)
Oh definitely! I was ashamed of admitting my maximalist tendencies, and actually was called maximalist when I was a teen, but in a very negative light! I just think it’s a different way of living, and it has a place to be!
How about appreciationist ? (Maybe) appreciating, creating and surrounding yourself with beauty is a good thing! 😊❤️
I agree - especially when it’s not the same thing as hoarding or just kind of mindlessly consuming “stuff”. I think there’s still an element of the minimalism mindset in maximalism because of the intentionality and valuing the things you bring into your life 🙂💛
Thanks! :)
Living a simple life makes the outdoors appeal to me even more and the colors seem extra vibrant.
Depends what minimalism one is referring to, I suppose?
True. While there are definitions you can find on google and such, we still give our own meaning to the words most of the time.
hello..greetings from the Philippines...I always dream a life like that..wish i could live a life like that also, thanks for sharing🙂❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤎
Nice video. Thank you.🥀

♥️ from the east
❤️ back! 😊
👍👍😍😍
👌🏻👍
To the person reading this: Even though I don’t know you, I wish you the best of what life has to offer ❤
But then, everyone will call things differently.
do what you want. but theres no way a maximalist life is simple. its stressful complicated.
Priceless reflections that kindly healed a bit of my soul and mind. Thank you so much. Love from Perú 🤍
