Elegant and sensitive, and very cleanly played; but do I wish that the performance were on a larger scale. But I will add that, given his age, John-Henry Crawford has a really impressive technique.

Agreed. So many nice little details at the micro level, but the large-scale structure eludes this listener - the performance sounds so "constructed" of little building blocks, each of which tended toward a "vertical" structure rather far removed from, say, the "whimsical" and "spontaneous" nature of a Gendron or Fournier performance or the long lines of Rostropovich. Still, interesting and well done.

I'm curious to know: with whom did he study? I was tempted to say that he's the new Starker.; But then I thought better of it, and decided that he plays even better than Janos, with a more focused tone and with none of Starker's mannerisms!

I can't wait for him to come to perform here in Italy, where I have been living ever since 1980. I do hope that he'll play here in Milan.

I really liked your other recordings, but that was sort of weak, especially the very first note and parallels, the accents are so soft and you get weak so quickly
