BEAUTIFUL collection. a friend offered to sell me his tonus 2600 ( without encapsulated modules) for $799 back in the mid 90s, I just bought the korg reissue but, I still hope to one day pick up one of these older models.
As a current 2601/3620 owner (obtained in 1988), I find this evolutionary video quite interesting. Whilst my days of professional electronic music instrument repair (I'm now an EE like you are), I still remember how the design allowed me to not only learn about analog sound synthesis, but also about analog signal design as well.
Two uploads so close to each other, wonderful! Always love getting to see the insides of these fantastic old synths. I never even knew about the blue faced 2600. I've got a number of different filters in my MU modular, but I've got to say the 4027 clone is one of my favorite sounding filters I've built. Sounds fantastic, especially with short plucky or sequenced sounds I find.
You'd be wrong in both cases. Using the words Behringer and Better Quality in the same sentence is humorous. And you should go listen to a gray face 2600 from the 70's next to the Korg FS. Korg FS not nearly as rich.
I love your videos!!!!!
Thanks!!
Make that 2 :3
I love both of your videos!
Excellent chronology of one of the leading early synthesizers, SynthChaser!
Thank you! Very informative! I'm looking forward to exploring more.🤟🏽🤟🏽🐶🐶
Excellent breakdown of the 2600 lineage, thanks! I hope you're keeping well in your part of the world, all the best. :)
How did I miss this?!
Glorious. 👏
Thanks, Alex!

The legendary Grey Face... x2! 🤤
Love the way ARP tried to hide their ladder design that they stole from Moog.
Super awesome video man!! I'm on this Behringer 2600 like a rat on a Cheetoh!! lol +1 Sub from me!! Very cool, informative vid!! 😀🐀
great video - has that one at the front been coloured in?
No, maybe the lighting is off, but it's original.
hey! I love your videos! do you have some recommendations on where can I learn more about synths and how can I make mine? thanks in advance!
I would argue that the "cheap Behringer clones" are better quality than the originals. Of course so are the Korg clones.

But they don't sound like the originals. That includes the Korg clones as well.
@Stephen Anthony Well then they are a perfect fit your constricted budget.;)
I have an ARP 2600 .... coffee mug. 😏☕
Great video!
