Spartan Beast up and down Mount Killington in Vermont on Saturday September 20, 2014. Morning temp around 50 degrees at the starting line, mountain top very windy, chilly, and literally inside a cloud.
Unofficially this course was 17 miles long (if you include the length of route added with the obstacles as SR doesn't include them) and was a leg buster. According to Spartan's chip table this course had a 39% DNF rate.
I improved my cardio/stamina from 2013's Killington Beast and actually thought I might have had a shot at besting last years time, even with this being a more difficult layout. Nope. This took me 9 damn hours. Though there was a lot of obstacle waiting, and most the downhills were unpassable single file trails just waiting for a broken ankle/knee. But still this course was brutal, if you didn't come prepared you weren't finishing. Which I was on the fence during the second sandbag carry, that almost broke me.
Excellent coverage. I am so glad you had the video. Next year I will bring one. Done many events in the West, but this was by far the toughest. Now I have something to show my friends and family so they can appreciate what us Spartans went through. Thank you.

First off amazing stache! Next I was just sitting here reliving that hellish race and getting amped for all the OCRs I plan to do next year! Great work on the video you definitely captured all the torture and then the triumph with the fire jump!

Awesome dude, yea by about the 5-6 mile mark I was getting worried about what lay ahead since it was so easy...and yep those fears were confirmed haha. Still, great race and hope to see you there next year!

Excellent video! I'm impressed with how quickly you assembled it all and with the race you ran. You killed it! I attempted the Ultra and came up short only finishing the Beast portion. By the way, here is a great GPS breakdown with elevation, temps, and weights of obstacles this year:

What a lier, the mountain isn't even 5000 in elevation. The highest point is like 4300.
