The builds from Trek are pretty subpar, Was also thinking of building one. Yours looks great. Didn't know you could fully integrate the cockpit though, Was that a pain?
@@ginomordocco4710 they use the gen 8 madone bars adapter, the hose routing however requires some, uhhh, major "faff" for lack of a better word to make it so the hoses route OK and arent kinked/have twist in them that causes the bars to want to turn left or right from the hose twist.
climbed the biggest hill in thailand on 36/30. if you can do 500watts for 5 min you can climb anything with a 1.25:1 gearing. anyways, purpose of this bike is "fast gravel" not adventure riding with luggage
is this the SL5? i'm thinking about getting it as a one-bike-for-everything. would you recommend the base SL5? is this a good frame with regards to the quality of the frame and a comfortable relaxed riding position?
havent rode it at all as I broke my foot last month before I got it. The standard sl5 build is, well, a good value bike if you think sram stuff is acceptable. in USA trek only sells all the checkpoints with sram. I would have done with the checkmate but they only sell the frameset in ugly colors and it would have made this build over 10grand. so dollars to donuts I think this was the way to go. my Pinarello F5 is what I originally built to be the "budget" do it all one bike build but it only clears a 34 road tires on the back (these 40c clear on front tho)
Nice job on your build. You should throw the other wheelset on and post up the weight.
Excellent build and awesome 7.1. Please post list of components
Im posting up YT shorts of some of the key parts.

always is lol. but you only do it and route everything once. its more than. full pound lighter than the checkmate top spec and cost me 5grand less.
@@HeyWattsUpCycling What's the stem length on those bars? just curious. Also, Was it the Madone spacer? thx for the info
100 stem, this bike uses gen 8 madone parts
@@HeyWattsUpCyclingwhat spacer did you use for those bars? I noticed that Canary has spacers but didn’t see the checkpoint listed.

48/34 low gear... Climb much?
Its basically a road bike with wide tires 😂
