You say something at the end about epsom salts but I can't see the text so I don't know if you say how much per litre or if you still use distilled water or ordinary tap water. Anyone catch that detail?
I didn't see any text when he spoke of "Epsom salt" and didn't see any when the end cards were added. That's actually a good question, I'd like to know too. I have the exact same types of batteries he's demonstrating there. Will be getting some distilled water and recharging/reconditioning them to see if they'll work again.
so do you have to wait 24 hours after re-filling the cells? Or can you just test the battery right after you refill the cells and re attach the battery
Good video. A desulfator can take time to recover a battery as you demonstrated, I watched one video where he showed a time lapse of a month on using a desulfator. I myself use a PulseTech PowerPulse passive desulfator with a patented frequency used to gently desulfate batteries on my BMW Napa battery for the last three years and so far so good.

When a battery is just two years old lead acid and will not charge. DO you really need to use the desalinator ??? What is the circuit inside the sulfinator ??
A desulphator is a device that gives short pulses of higher voltage i.e 16 to 17 volts, versus the normal charging voltage of 14.4 volts. Desulphators, give these higher voltage pulses at low currents such as less than 200 milliamperes, which can help in melting the sulphate deposits on the lead plates, thus making the battery fit for use, once again. Desulphators can make the battery run for another two or three years.
It's supposed to give high frequency or high voltage pulses. But what I can tell you is it's not actually worth it, they don't actually do it faster or better than a normal constant current finishing rate. At my work we recover industrial lead acid batteries for forklifts. We've got internal manuals from enersys and deka for recovering batteries and 20 years of doing it. Nothing has worked better than just charging it until the specific gravity stops appreciating, then if needed acid adjusting and a load test to either get 80% capacity or scrap. We also replace cells if it's just 1-2 bad cells. How long a battery lasts after recovery or if it's recoverable depends of how much use or abuse it got before. Sometimes there's a lot of positive plate corrosion and it's just dead. Or most of the plate material has already shed off and the capacity is gone. This is why we load test after it's known to be FULLY charged.
I have an old sealed lead battery, the multimeter reads 1.97VDC on it, is it still good and just recharge it? or do I need to pry it up and add some water to the cells then recharge it?
When did you last time charge it. If it you did not charge the battery for long time, it will self discharge and over time sulphate accumulated over lead plates . even you are getting 2v it will hard to recover the battery but you can try at last you have nothing to loss.
It really depends on how much it's been used before. Sealed batteries aren't the most successful at being recovered . If it's a normal sealed battery and not gel or AGM then only add water until the plates are just covered and no more. The electrolyte level will come up significantly after a charge. It could even possibly overflow on a overly discharged battery like that. Just give it a constant current charge 24hrs at a time until the resting (give it at least 8 it rest, 24hrs is more accurate) open cell voltage stops appreciating. Ideally you'd use specific gravity so you're not waiting 24hrs for the voltage to settle, but it's a sealed battery so it may not be possible.

Yes, you can go Upto 17 or 18 volts, because overcharging the battery will help remove the sulphate deposits from the lead plates. But the fact is that you should keep the caps of the battery open, because the excess pressure and gas build up needs to be relieved. **This should be done in an open and well ventilated environment, and the gases should not be inhaled. Also, keep extra distilled water because you will boil off some of the distilled water inside the battery, so you need to fill in the distilled water.
It will take Upto 24 or more hours to get desulphated completely. And also make sure that the current is less than 200 milliamps. You can use a DC to DC converter or a variable lab bench power supply to supply a voltage above 16 volts and a current about 200 milliamps.
Also, be sure to continuously cycle the battery, i.e. charge and discharge the battery many times. The constant expansion and contraction of the lead plates helps the sulphate deposits break and dissolve.
Not certain about the points made but ,if anyone else needs to find out about how to recondition batteries at home try Bablim Battery Booster (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my friend got excellent results with it.
Yes, HVinduction is correct. Lead-acid cells vent gases, which is how the cells lost the water that is being replaced in this video. Some people reattach the plastic covers over the rubber plugs using a few small drops of hot glue so that there are gaps between the glue drops through which gases can escape. Because these batteries are not truly sealed, even when new, it is important to keep them upright so that they do not leak acid if turned on their side.
Even with a desulfator a dead ups battery is not woth saving. You would need distilled water (distilled or regular doesn't matter, the acid takes care of that), next cycle desulfator, then empty the cells completely, add acid and water again and if non of the cells are warped enough for short circuit (they almost always are) you might get 6m/1year in ups and not reliable under heavy load, no load test in video either. Just buy a replacement lithium batterij for your ups, pretty cheap these days, 10y worry free if the ups doesn't break^^ These kind of videos are a waste of time for everyone, hope this helps.
I suspect that battery was fine all along. if you look at the + terminal at the begining of the video it has stom form of coating on it when he checks the voltage.......

A lot of lead-acid batteries could be revived/lifetime extended by this method (+be kept working longer by checking on electrolyte liquid before it runs dry) . I read you can also use SODA WATER instead of distilled water. Anyone confirm/refute this? It's CRITICAL you re-charge with top caps OFF. I didn't know that the first time and a 12v motorcycle type battery "exploded". DON'T put batteries on chargers overnight. This is bad practice. Always charge batteries when you're able to regularly check on them. If you set fire to your house you can be dead from smoke inhalation within 5mins. Charge large HD lead acid batteries in your garage.
1. Yes, you can charge it with a ups 2 distilled water is water that has been boiled and reconverted into a liquid 3 you can always buy bottles of it at your local pharmacy. But if you're in a hurry, you can boil water and wait for it to cool down. BAM!. You have distillet water. 4 i think it costs 50-70 dollars
Friends, please do not poke the battery with a metal needle, as it is easy to short-circuit the plates! After removing the metal needle, you can still fill it with appropriate distilled water, which is also OK. The battery is generally repaired in this way after 5-6 years.
If you drained the cells of electrolyte you'd lose all the acid and energy holding capacity. You're not gonna remove sediment unless you can pull the plates out, which is a bad idea. Epsom salt is awful for your battery, it's just going to add mineral buildup on the plates. Baking soda is going to give you a strong reaction with the acidic electrolyte and you're going to lose a lot of capacity by neutralizing the acid and add sediment and mineral buildup. What exactly do people think this stuff is going to do except ruin your battery. Just charge it and see if it reacts ok. There are industry standards to recover batteries. Manufacturers recover industrial batteries all the time to resell, they really have the best practice because they have lots of money to make from it. My job is recovering or repairing customer batteries and the same goes for scrap batteries turned in if they show promise for recovery.

There are many factors in battery repairing. One plan I discovered that succeeds in merging these is the Magic Mender Wizard (check it out on google) definately the most incredible info i've heard of. Check out this super website.
No, do not add any acid to the battery. Adding acid is risky, you only have to add distilled water to the battery. Even if you add acid, you will have to add 38% concentration sulphuric acid, which is not available for normal consumers. Nobody adds acid to batteries. It is only distilled water that is added.
You'll ruin the lifespan of the battery if you do that. In industrial battery recovery we do have 50% or 1.400 sulfuric acid barrels to acid adjust. We only use it after the specific gravity stops appreciating from a charge and it's still not at it's nameplate rating. The acid is used to replace what has been lost due to bad watering practice causing spillage on charge.
I have tried all this on a dozen batteries and it has not worked. On one battery I did have the desulfation work to bring the battery barely low back up! One time success is a miracle not a fix technique!
Same old bulshyt of trying to guess what they're doing, turn off the music and explain yourself! I couldn't take it n quit watching! hasta la vista Charlie Chaplin!
So i tried this and it kinda worked but battery capacities, especially load capacities have been reduced but yes it did work to an extent, only should we leave the water in after recovering the battery, also how did you put back on the caps because i tried and they pop off while charging
here's several things for battery repairing never attempt to do this unless you know what you are doing - the acid can burn you check the voltage first - there may be a kaput cell which would waste your time. Additives are not a good idea. In an industrial application acid adjustment can be done when the specific gravity stops appreciating from a charge cycle, but it's still not at the nameplate level. We use 1.400 sulfuric acid in that case, as much as needed to get it back to nameplate rating.
My flooded lead acid battery went down to 8+ volts, after charging for a few hrs in parallel with another same model battery , it swells up and was overheating. The voltage was still 8+ volts. Is this recoverable?
its probably shorted cells you can try and clean out the old acid and wash it out and fill it with epson salt solution but if this does not help you need to open it and replace the dead cells with new lead plates

May be test for bubbles coming from each of those cells during charging, and then add epsom salt only to those cells where there is no bubbles or less amount of bubbles.
If they don't start gassing after 22 hrs of charging it may be that it's toast. Seriously don't add stuff to batteries, Epsom salt will do nothing but add minerals to build up on the plates and reduce usable plate surface area. It may have a lot of positive plate corrosion, lost a lot of acid in it's life, or it's so sulphated that there's no way to get any energy through the plates. Standard practice would be to spike it with 1.400 gravity acid to help with conductivity and prime that sulphate to come off and maybe convert back to sulfuric acid, don't do that though. If it's just a starter battery or small deep cycle, turn it in for $10 and buy a new one. Charging rules go like this, 16% of AH for amps in until it hits gassing voltage of 2.40 volts per cell. Ideally you'd have a constant voltage mode where you decrease the current as fast as you can but maintain that 2.40 volts per cell. Go down to 4.5% AH for finishing rate and stay there or below when it's at gassing voltage. Though you probably don't have a charger that can both do a custom size battery and keep charging as long as you want. This is just my advice from the industrial motive power space, I recover industrial lead acid batteries primarily, but also work on chargers, cell replacement, watering systems, palletizing scrap battery loads, or whatever else related.

Well, you can desulphate a large battery also. But the fact is that you can use a 10Amp power supply that can give 16 to 18 volts.
@@RoyTecTips sir what about car battery is the same thing? i mean just we add water?
I have a motorcycle battery that is five years old. I bought it, charged it, put it in the bike and it has never been started. Do you think I can revive it?
TY sir. Fantastic job.
What Did you USE TO CHARGE THE BATTERY 🪫 WITH??
That small aluminium box ??
what is it yeah ??
After putting distilled water why caps removed while charging the battery ? , Tell bro.
It works. Thank you for this very useful information. : D

here's several ideas for fixing a car battery
Don't try to do this until you know what you are doing - the acid can burn you
Test the voltage first - there may be a kaput cell which would waste your time.
Check the battery fluid.
attempt to fully charge the battery.
(I read about these and more from Jons Mender Guide website )
Just wonderful, I have been researching "rebuilding car battery" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Ammaceen Reconditioning Rabblement - (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my cousin got cool success with it.
Hey everyone, the best success that ive ever had was with the Magic Mender Wizard (just google it) definately the no.1 course that I've followed.
the greatest results that i've had was by using the Magic Mender Wizard (i found it on google) without a doubt the most incredible course that I've tried.
video content! Apologies for the intrusion, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you tried - Rozardner Powerful Battery Reality (Sure I saw it on Google)? It is a smashing exclusive guide for learning how to recondition an old battery without the normal expense. Ive heard some great things about it and my work buddy finally got cool results with it.
Hi, I don't have a desulphator, so can I set a lab bench power supply to 16.2v to desulphate the battery.
Please do tell me,
Thanks.
yes
Thanks
The constant expansion and contraction of the lead plates helps the sulphate deposits break and dissolve.
can this same process be done if the batteries are not dead but just weaker ?
Of course you can !
could this be also possible with "maintenance free lead acid" battery?
I only used the battery for about 2years. using ebike. hope will revive.
After refilling how long the battery will last .
There is no general answer. Some batteries will not be helped at all by this.
NEVER cover the pressure relief valves with tape!
My battery is littealy boulged, will this work?
I suspect that battery was fine all along. if you look at the + terminal at the begining of the video it has stom form of coating on it when he checks the voltage.......
Same as battery used in ebike?

Sir can I use salt also?but as I know salt can short cell .
No, normal table salt will not work
epsom salt
Mine was 360ml short from the dealer. It worked before I fixed it but just barely.

How much epson salt?
1 week battery ka cap khol ke rakha hai kiya...?
Wait really? I’ve been charging mine with caps on, not home and while sleeping lmao
Mine works thankyou i save 5$

What charger do you use?
Bro can we direct attach it to switch without any resistor
Can I charge it using on ups or only seperate ?
What is distilled water..
How to prepare it.
Multimeter price
1. Yes, you can charge it with a ups
2 distilled water is water that has been boiled and reconverted into a liquid
3 you can always buy bottles of it at your local pharmacy. But if you're in a hurry, you can boil water and wait for it to cool down. BAM!. You have distillet water.
4 i think it costs 50-70 dollars
Ich habe es raus gelassen und destilliertes Wasser gefüllt
Friends, please do not poke the battery with a metal needle, as it is easy to short-circuit the plates! After removing the metal needle, you can still fill it with appropriate distilled water, which is also OK. The battery is generally repaired in this way after 5-6 years.
If we add epsom salt or baking soda, is there a need to empty those cells to remove the sediments and then fill it with distilled water again?
Hi, when I charge the battery that I just filled with water, it is giving a bubbling sound. Is it safe?
Yes, but you should using distilled water not normal or mineral water.

Is it good to add a few drops of acid... If yes what acid????
H2SO4
No, do not add any acid to the battery.
You made this well but I need some narrative
Did he charge for 1 week?
I have tried all this on a dozen batteries and it has not worked. On one battery I did have the desulfation work to bring the battery barely low back up! One time success is a miracle not a fix technique!
Same old bulshyt of trying to guess what they're doing, turn off the music and explain yourself! I couldn't take it n quit watching! hasta la vista Charlie Chaplin!
so, how much does that charger cost in relation to just buying a new battery??
This is a valid question. A battery charger would cost you £30. A new battery? £60.
In theory worth trying should you already have a battery charger
So i tried this and it kinda worked but battery capacities, especially load capacities have been reduced but yes it did work to an extent, only should we leave the water in after recovering the battery, also how did you put back on the caps because i tried and they pop off while charging
Does it works with 6 v battery only with distilled water?
Yes
OK, some good info, thank you.
Wecome :)
here's several things for battery repairing

Great job! Only using distilled water? How about using Alum or Sulfur?
Additives are not a good idea. In an industrial application acid adjustment can be done when the specific gravity stops appreciating from a charge cycle, but it's still not at the nameplate level. We use 1.400 sulfuric acid in that case, as much as needed to get it back to nameplate rating.
why is getting heated .
The title should be "how to add water to your battery"
😂😂😂😂

Is this batter chargeable or non chargeble
yes its chargeable
Thank you sir
Most modern battery chargers now have that ''reconditioning'' mode as standard.
They actually do not. They have a repair mode but that is completely different. It won’t work for batteries under 6V and doesn’t provide the same current as a power supply. Battery desulfators solve this issue.
Those chargers are meant to improve a weak but working battery, they don’t fix totally dead ones.
Dude you just made bomb outta battery 😭🤣
U can reair the crack using plastic weldering tools.
Thanks for the video bro

Without acid battery low power. I was charging 22 hours 5 amp.but not charging full.solution please
What's the purity of that acid?
It is 30% battery acid, you can get it at autozone for cheap.

Don't do any of these, just turn the battery upside down. Because The electrolyte settles down due to usage thumps and gravity. 🤘.
How mutch time need to charge battery with laptop charger I reduce voltage 20v to 14 volts connecting with 12volt light in serice charge voltage 14volt 3 amper ups battery 7.2Ah
it will fry the battery, reduce the amp 1 amp to 1.5 not more than that .
Typical gupta BS. This will not restore the battery's original capacity.. Powering a 200ma LED strip is hardly a test.
But still a recovery in some cases.
