      @@Glytch Please don't push me down that rabbit hole. It's hard enough dealing with the Key Croc in the visually observable plane lol

    Glytch: "We've got a full quad core Linux machine... Sometimes I just need a Linux shell."
    Me: "Uh, so... You wanted to have a Linux machine around, so you bought a keycroc and put it in a keyboard when you could have just bought the latest and most powerful Raspberry Pi for about half the price of the croc?"

      Don't tell people that. They might buy a raspberry pi zero w with a USB-A addon.

      Same thing with literally all fo hak5 gear. It's a joke. I can't make some fancy firmware to replace the one on a little linux device but u can easily make a rpi zero do everything all the hak5 gear can do.

      True but if your serious about pen testing are you going to spend 3ish hours ordering, installing, setting up a pwnpi that may fail in the field and alert your engagement orrrrrr order this and put that time to Bill a client at $400 an hour? And yes pentest engagements can easily pay that rate, and is the minimum I would contract for.

    You could almost take this concept the other way for example "I have to use this special keyboard because I have bad wrists" then implant all the goodies in there

    Mic, sdr, micro cam, battery backup, and piazo speaker so to recover/end the plant without detection you can make odd sounds and keyboard functions then the target will throw it away/replaces it.

    Will the keycrock pass through the usb if the person is using an rgb keyboard? Or is keycrock impossible to use with an rgb keyboard that has custom lighting? I assume it can’t be used since I am sure it just passes keystrokes using Linux.

    I tend to like hacker-types as I basically am one (though I draw the line at violating anyone's privacy). But if someone did that to me, I'd beat them to death with my compromised keyboard. Or I'd ebay a non-working Model M and beat them with that if the first one didn't end the guy. We're all pretty frail, so I probably wouldn't have to, but the thought of it makes me happy. I remember growing up in the 90's with hackers in the D... it was all about crime for money and upgrades; far too serious. We all knew the stakes were at least that high, and plenty ended up like that or in prison. I can't even imagine how silly and jokey the NoCal scene must've been... like a friendly hippy paradise comparatively. Low stakes, easy peasy. Correct me if I'm wrong.

    What about implating a KeyCroc into a USB hub? This makes it more portable and is less suspicious than some "random useless" thingy between your keyboard and computer.

    • @noahluppe
      @noahluppe 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      should totally work. but if you (have to) put the croc between the hub and the keyboard you have to use the same USB Port on the Hub, that's connected to the croc. if you can plug the hub into the croc it wouldn't matter. But the question is if the croc can also pass through any other data feeds you get from a HUb or a plugged in USB-Stick.

    • @DDBAA24
      @DDBAA24 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rethought this , I see where you were going now you want to capture the radio signals emitted by the keystrokes. I've been looking at some things ,,, passive rfid .. Very cheap sdr's can actually replace them. The idea is that the SDR can be used to read the electromagnetic emissions of a device(s), which can then be used to identify the item for more refined targeted attacks. The passive rfid is just cool because it has some memory, and requires no power, just an electromagnetic field . These little baby travel routers that fit in your palm , with usb, running openwrt are pretty interesting too (sdr server). It is impressive how many boxes the keycroc checks off though 🐊
