The great voice of Ledisi, and the band - Greg Phillinganes, keys, Paul Jackson jr., guitar, John "JR" Robinson, drums, Nathan East, bass - and the horn section, not to forget. Brilliant!
I believe out of the 5026 views of this video at least 5000 may be me. I have always loved this song from the original with Minnie, to the cover wtih AWB and Ledisi puts the "stink" on it. I love how each artist made it their own. Great song.. Thanks Quincy J.
Ledisi is a cold blooded stone cold killer with a beautiful smile. I say that because she just killed this classic. Don't get me wrong, I will always love Minnie R.'s version. Ledisi voice is big and full of energy and she puts about 1,000,000 megawatts into this performance. Again, she kills it. Even Minnie R. would be proud of this performance by Ledisi. Two of the things I love most in life: a big beautiful voice and a fulled bodied woman. Dammnn, come here Ledisi. LOL. Yea, I'm dreaming.
It's incredible that a child from Bridgetown on the Cape Flats of Cape Town in South Africa composed this song and Nathan East and Paul Jackson Jr are playing it. Blows my mind
Miss LEDISI is Phonemenal Singer In Class All By Herself and There’s Nothing Like A Real Live Band . I am so sorry most of us have to go to this coronavirus but I’m glad we still surviving through the grace of God in his mercy and I would love to hear her sing Live . God bless you all may your families all be safe and we keep praying for each other and help one another anyway we can. SHALOM 🙏🏼
Yet another fabulous joint from Leon Ware who also wrote "I Want You" for Marvin Gaye and "Sumthin' Sumthin'" for Maxwell. Stunning performance from Ledisi and the entire big band.
A couple of years ago my daughter suggested that I listen to a CD by Ledisi. After two months she asked me if I ever listened to the CD and I told her no. She took the CD back and went home. I blew it off and thought to myself what does my daughter really know about music? Well after listening to this Q. Jones / M. Ripperton classic, I must admit that my daughter knew what the hell she was talking about. Ledisi is the bomb, a true talent with great range. I wonder if I can get that cd again?
This is clearly a GREAT ensemble of voices, but you need to check out Vi Jordan's cover of this song with Verdine White and Scott Mayo of Earth, Wind & Fire, produced by Scott Frankfurt. It's on TH-cam. Just saying. Full disclosure, she gave me a great interview with insights.
So how can you put together such a great arrangement, with incredible players and singers, and then turn over the best lines to a similarly great artist who wants to own every second of the chorus? That's not fair to the others, and it lessened my impression of an otherwise wonderful singer.
I’m a fan of Ledisi and she has a great voice but this is a poor performance, first she forgets then lyrics then the end gives it far too much vocal, she should have let the backing vocals take it.
WOW!! Just wow!! Best cover of this song! She’s simply amazing!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Old-fashioned "sanging". Sang!!!
Bellissima
Is it me or did she forget the lyrics in the first verse? If she did, she still sounded amazing with the improv.
I was wondering the same.
Yes she did.

I love you ㅠ_ㅠ
She forgot the lyrics in the first verse. Decent cover up.

Even better. Than u did W/Q

Why so much choristes it's not nessecary
Jeff Golub`s version is much better.
This is not my LEDISI favourite song because she use too much force for a sweet song
I’m a fan of Ledisi and she has a great voice but this is a poor performance, first she forgets then lyrics then the end gives it far too much vocal, she should have let the backing vocals take it.
