    Amazing to see all the love for the Tolsta & Blouse No2! So many of you offered to give them a new home. They are both spoken for now and will be making their way to their knitters for a second life. 🤗

    Thank you SO MUCH for this podcast. It is something that should happen more often from other podcasters! I found this so useful from the patterns, yarn selections, etc. After watching this the Sonya Shirt is on my "must knit list!" And congratulations on your Melides dress, it's beautiful and looks wonderful on you. All your work is gorgeous - we as knitters see our own flaws but I promise you, nobody else sees them. Thanks again!

    I appreciate the professionalism of your videos, and your efforts to edit out any awkward pauses or "umm" "erm" does NOT go unnoticed.
    This kind of video is very useful and full of practical info.
    If you're up for it I wish I could see more videos about needles and cables other knitters use and maybe comparing new skills they learned from each project. ( ex: "before this project I didn't know saddle shoulders but now I learned and also lifted increases etc.")

    • @Goodknits_
      @Goodknits_  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for the nice comment! I try my best to edit out all the annoying breaks.
      For the needles - I actually wrote a script almost a year ago now to go through my 2 interchangeable sets and what mistakes I made when buying and what to consider for yourself. Is that what you mean?
      For the project skills I tend to include those things in my podcasts when talking about the items so good to check those. 🤗

    Hi Sheri you might like to consider a double knitted hem for your next cami no. 9 . It might take a bit longer to knit but the result is so worth it. It would give a polished look but still have stretch in my opinion. Your frank and open comments are very welcome and quite refreshing - I certainly have knits that didn’t measure up to my expectations but the process gave me great insights for future knits. Still striving for the perfect match of colour, yarn and pattern for my personal style - so I keep on knitting - there is still joy in the process for me so I hope it is the same for you.

    • @Goodknits_

    • @truesummerknits

      How did you do your double knitted hem? I did one for a similar top and it had absolutely 0 stretch and I have to unpick it and try something else. I’m wondering if you did yours differently?

    • @rhondalenevez5192
      @rhondalenevez5192 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@truesummerknits I have used two methods for a double knit hem - change needle size and kfb each stitch and then K1 slip 1 etc. or Stay on main needle size and P1.YO on each stitch knit 1 slip 1 etc for desired hem length, but I always use an Italian sewn bind off. So far with excellent results.

    Just a thought - when adding a new ball of yarn, I try do it at the side seam or where the side seam would be ( under the arm), even if it means sacrificing a little bit of yarn - then the joins aren’t as noticeable. Thank you so much for this type of video. It’s so helpful! XOXO.

      It's amazing how much colour can impact your final feelings on a piece. I used to wear so much grey and I loved bright pinks or greens but they really do nothing for me. So I just admire them now on others and stick to the palette that makes me shine. Do you know what season you fall into for colours?

    Loved this episode! Great content especially how the yarn ‘performed’ with stretching in width and length etc and whether you like the garment after wearing (or not) for a while. Thanks for being honest re swatching which I am totally dedicated to doing as getting gauge is a struggle for me. I have read that gauge can change when knitting the same yarn in a different colour. For every sweater I knit, I record 12 finished blocked garment measurements in an excel spreadsheet. This is very helpful when knitting a new sweater to use when deciding on the fit I’d like, as well as when washing sweaters.

    Re: alternative to folded hem edge, you could do a no-rolling stockinette edge which basically stops the curling of the stockinette but looks neater.
    Also doing 1x1 ribbing on 5-6 edge stitches horizontally (in the same direction as the stockinette instead of vertically) is something I did on a crop top and it looks neat.

    Hi Sheri: Love your podcast! How awesome is to get a feedback podcast as to how a particular knit garment fare.
    I would love your Tolsta tee. I was going to buy the pattern, but I’ve already have a pattern very similar to it, so I did not buy it. There’s so many patterns I want to knit, and a very limited budget to do so. I usually knit the second or third size of most sweater patterns. I like the texture of this particular version. If you no longer want to keep it, I would very much like it.
    Thank you for sharing your review of patterns, yarn, and wearability of knitted garments! Happy knitting!❤

    I know what you mean about the blouse no. 2. I made a Ranunculus out of DK alpaca and silk mohair which was beautiful. But the gauge was too loose and the neckline too low for cold weather and the yarn too warm for cooler weather. I frogged it and made a tighter gauge raglan which I love and wear all the time.

    This is type of video is so useful when deciding what to knit and with what yarn. I hate yarn that pils so knowing how things wear is especially useful, thank you.
    I always frog things I don't wear- on 2 occasions three times, but ending up with something I love is worth the effort for me, especially as yarn can be very expensive.
    I would suggest you frog the tolsta tee and use the yarn with a dark blue or navy stripe, which would really suit you I think. But if you don't want to I would love the piece if you want to gift it, thinking of it languishing on a drawer makes me feel sad.

      I admire your dedication to frogging when it's not feeling right. I've gotten a lot better about it if there is really a huge issue (like my gallant being WAY to small) but overall I rarely frog. Thus why I end up with pieces I don't love.
      Unfortunately the Tolsta is already claimed and on its way to the US but I loved seeing so much interest in it. At least this way it won't be sitting in a drawer anymore! Same with Blouse No2

    • @Goodknits_
      @Goodknits_  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I always hand wash every knit but if it's something that doesn't need a lot of stretching in blocking I'll typically throw it in the washing machine on drain & spin cycle for a couple minutes to get most of the water out. It has worked for all materials I've tried it on.

    I'm a self-diagnosed soft autumn, and I run into many of the same issues as you when it comes to greys (not to mention beiges/whites). Often it's very difficult to tell from photos online if a yarn is a cool-toned grey or a warm-toned grey, and I've purchased so many SQ's in the "wrong" kind of grey. That kind of cool silvery grey you find not the most flattering in your Cumulus and your Tolsta are definitely shades I've learned to avoid. That said, if you frog those pieces, you can try holding the yarn with a strand of a warm-neutral mohair and that slight shift in tonal temperature should be enough to make it wearable.

    Please reuse the knitting for Olive yarn from the Tolsta tee. If you don't like the color you can dye it after frogging it. Just soak the hanks in the dye. The yarn will be your color and not rippled after washing. It's not that hard. Good luck.

    Hi Sheri,
    if you‘re still wanting to give away your light grey Tolsta Tee I‘d love to reuse the yarn. The tee isn’t exactly my style either (also not a fan of islets) but I have recently been trying to include more light blues and greys in my wardrobe. After being convinced that I had a warm untertone I‘ve recently discovered that I might have a warmer skin tone with a cooler undertone. Quite confusing, but I‘m just going with it for now and the soft summer colours are something I‘m loving right now.
    I also love the KFO cotton merino, I have a Camisole No. 9 in it which I love and would be planning to make a Mixed Rib Cami by Florence Miller with your grey yarn.
    Have a lovely, greeting from Germany!

    have you take into consideration that you are more a winter type than a true fall? Maybe its the lighting of the camerea but I think the light gray and the navy blue looks a lot better on you than the pinkish/dark green colour and i cant find a lot of warm tones on your eyes/hair/skin. It's always a possibility but I did the colour drapping in person with 2 stylists here in Amsterdam and seeing the different colours on my skin I agreed with them that the true autumn seemed to suit me best. Or actually most colours within the autumn palette. I also do notice a positive difference in how I look and feel when I wear those colours.

    • @Goodknits_
      @Goodknits_  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes definitely, but I am just not loving the idea of the whole process to actually dye them. Plus for most pieces I have where the colour is wrong, there is also something in the fit or design that is off too so it's not usually just a colour problem (exception maybe being the MELIDES top). Maybe one day I'll take the plunge and trying dying though and I can share my experience 🤗

    For fit issues you can try different bras with the tops. Different brands of bras provide different shaping and where your breasts sit. Also, we constantly hear how most women wear the wrong size bra so a professional fitting could benefit us (and our knit garments). I have shaped cup bras and cut and sewn cup bras and they fit differently so they can help my clothes fit better. Also, as a larger busted woman I always have to make my tops longer as my breasts pull them up in the front. Need to try a pattern with bust shaping…….

    • @Goodknits_
      @Goodknits_  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Excellent point on the bras. I actually just did a big order of new ones as my size has changed recently and I think it definitely makes a huge difference in how your garments fit.

    I am a short busty lady. My measurement from throat to cleavage is 15 cm. If you like tops which come up high, you might consider ones with lace at the top. Round yokes fit us only if we can add bust darts. If you style your "up to the throat" tops with a neckles wihch make a V-shape you might fall in lov3 with them agwin.

    I have to admit that colours suit you (the dark green is stunning, love the petroleum blue and you know I love the dusty rose 😊) way more than the grey used in your Tolsta Tee. Just an idea but have you thought about ripping it back to the start of the second section of the eyelets and knitting it in stockinette (the first section of eyelets looks really good) and then dying it in a colour of your choice? Might be fun to try but if you don’t want to then I’m happy to give it a go 😂😂 Your Melidies dress is lovely and you could definitely wear it to the beach at Bloemendal if you don’t want to wear it in town!
