Hayden, I'm looking forward to watching you go through this process. Rebuilding a CAT 963 the way you'll do it will give this machine a new lease on life.. Good luck to you. We need more skilled mechanics of your caliber.
Thank you. Going to try and have the engine done in the next several weeks and then try the machine out and see how everything works. Engine was in such bad shape couldn’t run for very long to see. Plan is to lease this machine out by the week/day/month to a couple local independent guys. If that doesn’t pan out I’ll just sell it.
@@HaydenIngram Be careful with whom you do business. In 1975 after my father passed away we struggled to get rentals for our HYMAC (think of a CAT 316) excavators and then the firms that had rented our excavators went bust on us. We had hired out a machine on site with our driver and our diesel and we got stiffed on the invoice that was 6 weeks onsite work. Make sure to get some cash up front and keep on top of their rentals. With what's coming with the economy so many folks are going struggle paying their bills. So be careful.
@@johnmccarthy6451 I will I won’t just rent it to someone I don’t know. Will be a contract signed and paid upfront.Good thing about old paid for equipment they don’t eat much haha
Looks like you have your work cut out for you but that will be a good running machine. You need to build a massive dirt bike track with all the equipment you have now. Did you every install the jungle canopy on your cat dozer? Keep up the good work 👍
Haven’t gotten around to installing the jungle canopy yet. Really want to get that going but before I do I’ve got to pull the fuel pump and governor off of it and do steering clutches so may be a couple years. I used to ride a lot wished I had this equipment when I was younger still have 2 trx450er’s need to get them out and dust them off lol
@@HaydenIngram I finally found the start up for the 3304DI as a "Short" video.. Nice. What did you do in terms of work on the 3304DI rebuild pistons / honing bores? Big ends & crankshaft bearings?
@@johnmccarthy6451 It got all new liners/pistons, new main and rod bearings, reman head, reman nozzles, completely rebuilt fuel pump and governor, new turbo, all new bearings in the rear gear train. all genuine cat parts no aftermarket. and couple cans of cat yellow primer and topcoat...
@@HaydenIngram I'm sure when it goes to work you'll get another 4-6000 hours out of the engine. When you turn the pins and bushes you'll rest of the work as needed? You're a well trained mechanic.. Thank goodness there's still a few apprentice trained Caterpillar mechanics out there!
@@johnmccarthy6451 may not go the pin and bushing turn route. needs a rail on 1 side so i might be going used tracks route... not sure just yet. should have it running late this week or first of next week. servicing the trans and such while its down. got all new pilot lines. etc etc. should be a good one...

Looks like you've got a bargain there.
is that a 963B? it's hard to tell with the decals being faded
It’s a 63A model. 21z series
Hayden, how is the engine rebuild coming on?
Should be a video on here on the first start up of it..
