  • Here's a video about going to visit a BAR in the woods and unexpectedly finding some other friends there. 🤣

Blog where some of the basic info about this car came from, it includes some really detailed photos and documentation about all of the hardware attached to these cars:

(Interestingly the MCVFA website doesn't mention the safety train. It appears to be owned by a separate non profit. However, the AAR still lists these cars reporting markings as Mass Call. Perhaps MCVFA was once the sponsor/owner of these cars and the Safety Train became its own organization? If you know more, plz comment below)

Sometimes a few of these even made it to Milwaukee and if you couldn't read the reporting marks and number even Mr Magoo could do it. Thanks for the info on both subjects

I do love those huge numbers on these cars. Didn't realize they also made up to the northwest.

@@ltvsquad For a Super trivia moment there is an episode from the 1950 series The Naked City in which a railroad police officer roughs up and finally kills a hobo and it was filmed in a New Haven RR yard in the New York area. Besides some PFE and Santa Fe cars there is at least one BAR. Reefer visible. I think you can even see the little metal.flip.sign where it said potato service on one side and either a lease name or show a return location on the BAR. It is a nighttime scene but still great for its day

@@paulbergen9114 Ooooph, that sounds awesome. I'll bet a nickel it was shot at Cedar Hill or, more likely, Oak Point.
There's been a few show scenes for Law and Order shot at New York and Atlantic yards within NYC. There was also a long scene in that Netflix Marvel show, Jessica Jones, shot at their LIC freight terminal.
