Our summer practicum is in Iron River, Michigan up in the Upper Peninsula. We use forests and lakes, etc., in the UP and in the north woods of Wisconsin.
I have a 1year old tree i think its a fir it looks just like the first one you showed im in germany it was struggling in the forrest competing for light so im hoping it will do better with me in a pot and full sun, can they grow from cuttings?
If you are in Germany, it may be another conifer species. How it will do will depend on how much of the root system was recovered and follow-up care. We recommend replanting it in its new home as soon as possible outside of a pot. It is difficult to reproduce fir from cuttings but some can layer. Push a lower live limb down into contact with bare soil and cover a portion with soil and it might root. That rooted limb could then be cut from the parent tree and transplanted.
So many great field marks and details thanks!
love this series!!
Are you up in Alberta using the Ford Center and Forest? I know that’s where we hold our Fall and Summer camps up at Michigan Tech
