My impression from this is that McLaughlin arguably threw the title away himself. Yes, the speeding in the pits was contentious, but he was set to recover from that when he spun de Silvestro around, picking up another penalty, and then he was all set to recover from that and take the title anyway when he ran wide at turn 1 and then drove Lowndes into the wall. He made heavy weather of it and it didn't quite work out in the end. I think it's fair to say he learned from this, given what he achieved over the following few years. This race is definitely on my list of dramatic title deciders, along with the likes of Brazil 2007, '08 and '12 in F1, and London 2016 and Berlin 2021, both in Formula E.
Fully agree. Scott had to realise it was his championship to lose, although the reality is that joke of a speeding penalty put him in the position he was, he just fueled that flame
A lot of great races have happened in V8 Supercars history. My opinion; Bathurst 2014 and this one have to be THE BEST, it's a rarity when you get long races that are exciting to watch from start to finish with hardly a dull moment, those 2 are just pure entertainment. Me the whole race; LAP 1-"Mclaughlin will win this." LAP 16- "he could lose this if he's not careful." LAP 45- "He's back in it!" LAP 46- "Holy crap he's in trouble." LAP 73- "HOW is he still going" LAP 93- "He's gonna do it!" LAP 94- "HE'S LOST IT!!!!!" It never had a dull moment.
All good mate. Yeah they don't have the heat and soul of the old commodores and Falcons! But I will take them over the terrible ZB "Commodore" any day.
The Supercars big wigs need to watch this an apply so much of this to the gen 3 era #the name(v8 Supercars) #the amount of races a year #the amount of different manufacturers # Tim shinken on board😀 #was tony coco still around if not they need him back 😀 An the list goes on

Thanks for uploading this. Great race with interesting drivers, struggling to like Gen 3. Watching from the UK.

They need to fuck off the gen3 cars. They’re too long, too low, too wide. They can’t get alongside eachother like they used too.
What a race, but the constant interruption of "race control" was a low point.
Still unconvinced McLaughlin sped in the pit lane
Was obvious he didn’t. If the limi lights on the car is under the pit speed limit.
