My Poppy (from the my Irish side) used to walk my sister to school and she remembers how he never passed a nail etc. by with picking it up. He lived through the 1918 pandemic,the depression, World Wars. My sister and I inherited his box ( probably because we played with it so much- how did we survive- they’d have child welfare in now😂). We treasure it, use nails Tom it and never pass a screw, nail or washer etc… without picking it up. Not to mention pennies, nickels… that the credit card children throw on the ground like trash!😢🤔🤣🤓
I have pictures of my grandparents wearing sabo clogs. There was a fellow at the end of the village who would make them for you. The interest thing is (at least In Burgundy) the part that would go over the top of your foot (nearer to your ankle) was made in leather. That way it could (give) as you walked. My father had a pair and he says they were wonderful. You could walk in (shallow) muck, water… And they would protect you feet from bumps and the errant sharp farm equipment(like construction boots). Let’s hear a hooray for the shoes that built so much without the use of rubber, foam… 🎉Plus, think how the were so very ecologically friendly!🤓😉🥰. I actually have a pair of gardening shoes shoes from Holland (rubber I’m afraid 😢) that my Dad calls my Sabo!🤭🤣🤣❤️

You are not losing your touch mate… I have been going to flea markets for 40 years… Since I was 10 with my father… From what I saw on the video, it was not much to find… The copper pot for a planter was a great idea…

Sean, I would’ve taken that extra large, iron “trivet”, cleaned it up and put a round slab of wood on top. Sanded top of the wood down, put a sealer on it and you could’ve had a really stylish end table. In America, that type of thing goes for good 💰
I was thinking it would make a nice table too. I imagined it with a thick round piece of glass, so as to be able to see the base through the top as it's the most interesting bit.
Love going on these outings and i see lots of things i would want to look at. I also like the sight seeing trips that you take us on. Old buildings are fascinating. Thanks for sharing

That was WAY more than just strolling through a flee market or two. The medieval village was an absolute joy to walk through with you, and the castle was just as awesome! The views alone I could stare at for quite a while. I've pauzed this one a few times. Absolutely worth a watch! 😃🥰

I'm older than you 62 but you remind me of going places with my father. He knew a lot about a lot like you and it was always fun to pick his brain. Plus he always seemed to know where the best places were to have a bite and take a rest and chat about what we'd seen. He would have been absolutely thrilled to be able to visit that village.
