Great Jim, love the groove! Still listen to this.....watching the video again I just noticed the toilet. You had to keep that in the video....great sense of humor. And great organ work!!!
This is just Funky to the MAX !!! I now sure plan to get a Hammond SK2. Sounds Great by an OUTSTANDING musician !! also all the other player were just wonderful !
Man, that sound is frighteningly close to that of an organ actually spinning tonewheels. This is coming from a long time owner/player of a CV and C3. Also, you've got KILLER chops! Thanks for sharing!
im so glad i saw the light at 14 im now 22 and i love playing the hammond this is my go to keyboard u and many others inspired me to play every day thank you
It depends on the type of music you play and the gig. For smaller restaurant gigs, I tend to use the SK2 through a couple powered speakers, utilizing the onboard Leslie simulator. For bigger gigs (stages, festivals, etc) I like to move some air, so I bring my Leslie 3300 and a sub. Both those examples apply when I play jazz gigs. For rock or blues gigs, I tend to use the SK2 or SK1 through a Neo Instruments Ventilator for the character of the overdrive and ease of carrying.
I just purchased the Hammond SK2 for another great keyboard addition to Soundhammer Studio. It's an awesome keyboard. Love being able to go direct to the console with this and capture THAT sound. The Hammond SK2 at Soundhammer studios compliments our existing keyboards lineup nicely. (Kawai MP11SE, Yamaha DX7s, Ensoniq SQ80, Yamaha TG55 and TG81Z sound modules, MAudio Air controlers, etc)
You can brighten the drawbars with the onboard EQ including the actual EQ knobs (global EQ), or a per-patch EQ that includes a "tone" control modeled after the control of the same name on the AO-28 preamp in a B3/C3. The bass pedals have a sustain feature but the organ is mainly meant to re-create the classic console organs of the late 50's / early 60s so they didn't include the effects from the later 70s organs.
price-wise, how much money am I looking to spend on that keyboard? or, would you happen to know how much it costs to buy the Hammond B3 mk-2 model like Joey plays?
I played the Mojo about a week ago, actually. The sound is what I expected, having been a user of VB3 for several years. It sounds very good. It is well built although my friend who owns it has had some issues with the power supply connector. But it's certainly a contender for a light-weight two-manual organ clone. It did not make me want to replace my SK2, though. :)
Currently playing a Hammond xk-Pro system with the B3 Guys, B3 console stand in my blues band (Arthur Holmes Blues Band). Same dimensions as a B3 (a little shorter without the music rack and cover though). It all goes through a trusty old Pro Line 330, just can't kill it !
I concur. I have an SK1 and it is a very sweet sounding instrument - it sounds amazing with the 2101II but the internal sim is great too, even out of the box. And yes, great playing - very soulful!
Jim, you and the guys sound wonderful and your playing smooth as ever! What an organ huh ? I am thinking of downsizing a bit from my XK-Pro setup and moving on to the SK-2. Just loaded my SUV and ready to open for Popa Chubby and James Montgomery. A few less trips into the back stage theater door would be nice. Read next comment below...
Great, tasty, funky arrangement! Definitely in that Lonnie Smith, Don Patterson, John Patton tradition and feel! Top notch rhythm section! Would love to have heard a Barris guitar solo though!
The piano and Rhodes sounds are what impress me the most with this instrument. I could also downsize from a Korg 01W/FD and Hammond XK2 to this. But I still have a bunch of patches that split the keyboard, weird sounds for rock tunes, etc. The current rig works, just means I carry 2 keyboards. Otherwise I'd also make this my rig. Great playing, you are the master, you make it look so easy.
There are no tweaks done outside of the SK2 itself on this recording other than a bit of "room" reverb. Doesn't sound shrill to me. I tweaked my settings further for live use on the road to get the Leslie to sound better through my choice of amplification.
oh wow soooo groovy funky. The drummer is great. Playing excellent and doing a great show through the combination of great playing with such a " I'm lazy to get some coffee in the morning face" that's such an ironic contrast almost ROFL
Simply fabulous new HAMMOND, the best clone of legendary HAMMOND B3, A100, C3, a real HAMMOND organ built by HAMMOND. Rather FAMOUS, the best new HAMMOND (here a SK) with so professional XK serie, don't look for another keyboard like Nord, this one is state of the art, it's a real HAMMOND, the BEST. Thanks for the fabulous work of HAMMOND Engineers. With a real LESLIE cabinet (122 147 760vl) it's impossible to tell if it's a legendary B3/A100/C3/M100 or a new B3. The organ players who respect themselves , the enthusiasts HAMMOND players, the purists who practised wonderful B3 cannot deny Hammond. This HAMMOND of last generation are impressive of quality, the series XK 3/C and SK is simply what does best. Great HAMMOND organ player here ! listen this sound, magical !
Jim, thanks for the custom tonewheel settings, got them off the Hammond site, this patch beefs up the SK2........I'm using your B2 wheels on my XK3c also.....
No. The Vent's overdrive is better and it has a better sense of "3D"-ness. However, the SK internal sim is quite good. I go back and forth between using it and using the Vent depending on the circumstances.
Yes, the CU-1 works great with the SK2. If you look closely, you can see it in the video above around the 0:25 mark. :) I use a K&M stand and I love it.
State of the art "new HAMMOND" for HAMMOND lovers, really the best clone is made by HAMMOND. Sound is fabulous, but HAMMOND player so as an HAMMOND specialist (B3) HAMMOND B3 is a legend, but for small rooms, clubs, this SK2 is incredible.
At 4:18 Jim presses a button. Does anyone know what that button does? (the chords played after that sound really good). Jim's so quick on the rotary switch. See 4:30.
This is worse than caffeine in the evening. Now I won't be able to sleep with my feet tapping wildly all night. Thanks a lot. (Outstanding!)
I love my SK1, and now I love it even more after hearing you play your SK2. Come to Atlanta and play.
What a wonderful music and wonderful players .....
We LOVE YOU JIM! FOR God's sake come back
Love your style Jim! You're definitely one of the best organists around. You're an inspiration to me.
Yes, this is my rig now. I play through a Leslie 3300 when performing with organissimo. It's a fantastic instrument.
Fantastic i can not stop to listen so good music! Thank you from RIo de Janeiro Brazil
Yeah funky man! Dreamy way to play!
With lots of wonderful sounds!
Great Jim, love the groove! Still listen to this.....watching the video again I just noticed the toilet. You had to keep that in the video....great sense of humor. And great organ work!!!

Super-smooth as silk, beautiful timing, tight as you like, just hitting the mark every time
Man, you make it look so easy! Great stuff - thanks for sharing! SK2 sounds great too!

Superbe, magnifique ! je suis un blues-funky man depuis 40 ans et j'ai une véritable Hammond B3 avec deux Leslie. Bravo pour cette superbe démo

Yeah, I can send it to you if you get an SK2. The extra voices are certainly handy. It's a nice board.
price-wise, how much money am I looking to spend on that keyboard? or, would you happen to know how much it costs to buy the Hammond B3 mk-2 model like Joey plays?
Fantastic groove and feel. Dig it, Jim.

Now that's what I call a SK2 jazz demo. Took me forever to find one

This is great playing, you guys rule. Thanks for all the music.

Groovy! I want one!

I was tired and ready to go to bed.
Than I saw this.
Very Hammondish and Lesliesque. I could see myself gigging with this instrument with no problem.
GREAT GROOVE ! That keyboard sounds great--beats lugging a B3---
Thank you. No, this was actually recorded before they released that OS update.
god damn this is freaking amazinnnng ! just wow .. and the sounds this synth makes :O .. music is the best :D
so good...!
very good !

1:21 should rename this song the Toilet Blues. I enjoy the music though.
This is cool 😎⭐️👍
Outstanding as always..... Jim, you are the master!!!
BTW, SK2 looks like it weighs at lot less that a B-3! :)
Qué bueno eres Jim!!!

Greasy and stinky, I mean that in a good way. I need to practice. You (Jim), Frank Montis and Lachey made me spend money and play. Much thanks.

Eric Morata now the SKX
YEEAAH! REALLY GREAT, even if I would increase (just a little) the level of the bass section. Greetings from Casablanca
great!!!!!
This has got my funk gene stimulated.
At 4:18 Jim presses a button. Does anyone know what that button does? (the chords played after that sound really good).
Jim's so quick on the rotary switch. See 4:30.
Jonathan L The button is a preset that changes the registration of the drawbars.
preset change from 1 to 2
Before you decide, take a listen to the tonewheel set I made for the SK2.
Do a search for "Hammond C2 (from 1954) vs Hammond SK2".
Need to arrange a Booker T Jones vs " Organissimo" "Playoff" .. That would be something!!!
Amazing! Some funky sh*t Jim haha
