    I'm always amazed by man's ingenuity and craftsmanship. I just managed to survive the sleep-inducing commentary.

    Wonderful job! I was surprised by how well the patch on the head blended into the existing wood after painting and varnishing. Great work.

    Thanks for sharing. My old lovely violin has some cracks like this on the top under the tailpiece. It’s a relief to know I can get it repaired and can continue to play my lovely instrument instead of having to buy a completely new one.

    It is a master restoration and they are so talented.
    Also, she looks like a Vermeer"s model. Thank you.

    This is perfect! I just found a violin with the exact same damages than this one. I'm following this to try and repair it. It's a pitty you didn't show how you fixed the notches on the sides. Great video anyway and excellent work.

    nice work. The violin sounds great too. The guy playing it can really pull the tones out of them. Thanks for posting this detailed video.

    Joana Bruno is extremely skillful and patient. And also Jochen Bruenjes is extraordinarily sensitive to those old instruments. The violin originally looked very miserable.

    I love these videos. Love listening to this while I work. Wish I could change my career to doing this kind of work. Where are you guys filming this? I can hear seagulls in the back ground. Sound like you are in a lively yet peaceful place doing this kind of work. Awesome. Perhaps one day I will buy one of you pieces. Lovely work.

    That's a great idea, using a cushion under a caul to clamp the cleats- I'll use that myself next time, thanks.

    You misunderstood: This violin is a German copy o a Stradiuarius from the Markneukirchen area. Some former owner glued another faked label on top of the model label trying to make it more valued.
    You -ll find this odd thing on 97% of labeled violins ....

    I have an older violin with an almost identical "Antonius Stradivarius Cremonensis" label. The date on it is "1710". Could that mean its actual date is 1910?

  • @nemol73

    How it is possible to establish if the violin is an authentic Stradivari? Thanks.

    thats not a faked label ,it labeled that because its styled after the strad.

    I wonder why not further cleaning the dusts? They probably dampen the sound and make it weaker sounding.

  • @quentinfitzgerald3305

    Just remove the ton of metal adjusters to stop them killing the tone. Did the split scroll need some superglue for the main wood that was left with a crack ?

      wisemandude, in spanish it´s called cola de animal, or cola de pescado, or cola de conejo,.. it´s made of animal bones, skin, thorns of fish.. I think in english it´s called hyde glue or something like this.

    This is in further response to Candela Research Center's comment one yeat ago about the labels on violin. I once heard that there were 2 different tenses used of used on labels on violins: one says "fecit" (using a present perfect tense) and the other one says "faciebat" (using the preterit). "Fecit "would indicate that the person actually did that violin, and "faciebat" meant that this was a copy made later using a model from the master. If this true, the the original' violin label should read "Fecit Anno 17..". Is this correct?

      Any use of Latin after the fall of the Empire is suspect. Even in the Imperium there were problems. I've seen many discrepancies.

    I know this one is not a real Strad. But have you ever worked on one? How would you know a real one from a copy? And if you have never worked on a Strad what was the most valuable violin you have ever repaired? If you don't mind me asking.

    • @jonathanseverin174
      @jonathanseverin174 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      930Scarlet It's believably a Straduarius, not to be confused with Stradivarius.

    • @Candelaresearchcenter
      @Candelaresearchcenter 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Stradivari normally used a printed label that said: "Antonius Stradiuarius Cremonenfis; Faciebat Anno 17__" and has a circular logo device with a cross and the initials AS.

      This is is a Strad body that is a copy of a real Strad. They use a Strad body mold pattern.to build the frame/ribs....very many have been made...and still are being made..and always will be made lol...I have about 5 Strad copies, 2 Amati copies, 2 Klotz copies, 1 Joseph Guinaris copy...and Stainer copy...oh yeah..and a Hopf copy. Call me a copy cat. Not many people own the real original ones! A real Joseph Guinaris violin is worth usually 2 times a real Strad!! But I think a lot of the good tone heard in this video has a lot to do with this violinist! A great player!!

    Highly interesting. Only this Nick-Cave-like sleepy voice and the poor recording quality are annoying. For compensating the Lady has exceptionel beautiful hands.
