Love these trucks just sad to get parts for it here in Germany. Also I got a feeling that previous owners have not treated it right and also did not know what they were doing. The glued headlights are a first example for that...
Hey bud. I use to have the same issues. Make sure the optical sensor isn't over advanced. That causes shit starting. And obviously your glow plugs. My 1997 6.5 starts like summer now in that weather after I checked timing.
I like how you think the old girl Def needs some glowplugs and some new batteries among its other many issues but she still does the job thanks for watching and commenting
Please make more cold starts and show us what you’re doing with the throttle? My N14 Cummins likes being pumped when cranking and before. It won’t start without it. Love your truck!
@@gearhead9943 I know the way the fuel system works on an N14, the only possible explanation is there is a start notch in the pump and when you push the pedal down once you put it into start, and the rest do nothing. My Cat 3406b is that way I've had IH dt466 that started that way, and we have a 5.9 Cummins in a freightliner that you can crank until your ears bleed that won't start, but if you push the throttle to the floor and let go, it fires up immediately
If you keep the glow plugs and fuel system in good condition, and have a healthy engine, they’ll fire right up. My low mileage 6.2 will fire right up on one glow plug cycle and without being plugged in, down to 13F. I try not to do that, but it’ll start fairly easily.
It has a block heater I just never remember to plug in if it's close to power which is rare I would say new glow plugs would do a world of good I bet only a couple actually get hot lol thanks for watching
its not pumping the pedal 1/4 om your first attemp 1/2 throttle on the second and let it cool for 10 sec before restarting , chek on your sunvisor there is a sticker but forsure glowplug will help
seth sweet man! Maybe film it next time from outside looking in the cab with the door open so we can see what you’re doing with the throttle. I’m curious to see how yours reacts
Because everyone always comments and wants to see what I'm doing in the cab are ya pumping the pedal blah blah blah can't make em all happy thanks for watching
I have those wellman fast heat glow plugs in mine. Never had any trouble like that...
That diesel smoke is burning my eyes from here 😅😅
@junkyardtucker9715 haha yeah me 2 it stopped that after new glow plugs and batteries
I have the exact same Meyers plow ❤❤❤
It's been used hard in its life and it always works with very little maintenance or attention
@sethclift same here... trying to buy a motor(pump) and solenoid and valve for it, but can't find in Canada
Let's them glow plugs cycle

This trucks had a hard life for sure and it's only 100000 miles

Nice I will check I have a big list of things I wanna get done to it before full blown winter...thanks for watching the video
Fun fact:
If you lose too much voltage, the starter fries itself and then you have to change a starter on your back in the snow.
Ask me how I know.
Good to know 👍
It’s not fun
How do you know
Get some Cosby in a can, and feed it the ketchup as soon as it starts.
Red line for a good time!👌

Will do gonna get a good one of my 2008
Lol, you accomplish nothing by pumping the fuel on an N14
@@RJ1999x not sure why it works, but it does

Ol' Dumpy says Brrrrrrrrrr Fack!
Now that’s a cold start!
Yay a truck that’s as dirty as mine is…. Lol
How long does it usually take to start on freezing cold mornings? Does it take longer when it hasn't been used for several days?
Having to deal with that crap every morning...no thanks.

She buetful truck
It started its life as a Pennsylvania dot truck and more than likely die in ohio
@@sethclift oops
Well, it sounds like it was a good truck
A block heater and an extension cord would solve all that headache and wear and tear on the starter and batteries.

Why don't you heat incandescent sparks ????!!! Almost 3 times before the 1st start
sounds just like an IDI
I believe the 6.5 is an i.d.i.
6.5 are a indirect injection diesel
@@purplelink9134 i was referring to the “7.3 idi” ford used.
@@psd28 the real ford idi is the 6.9 anyways
Did you try putting in new glow plugs ?
Not yet it always starts up even better when ya pump the gas which makes no sense
@@sethclift if it had carbarators
@@knowitall-chevrolet4229 what tf diesel do you know that has carburetors 😂
@@stonedanddrunkk9140 None, only gasoline engines have those
That should crank way faster throw in some 850 cca batteries and that beast will fire at minus 25 even with bad compression like you have
Pumping the throttle is pretty much useless on anything NOT carbureted.
These era of gam diesels were rarely electronically injected. So mechanically injected instead. So pumping it in this weather would help,a lot.
It's electric throttle so pumping should do nothing I agree BUT it starts way easier when ya do no clue why
Thank you for pointing this out and telling it to start ain't helping neither
If you didn't hear him
You should definitely try pumping it a lot more. It’s crazy but it works
I will try next time pumping it

-2 today I pumped the throttle and fired up like a champ

For sale?

You didnt let the glow plugs cycle
They cycled atleast twice in the video
@@sethclift no because it still had the light on while starting it cycles about 5 times for about 15 seconds
Get your mechanic to fix it dude
It’s called Cosby sauce.
How fucking cold was it
