What a fun video. Takes me back.
They should upgrade that tiny little NH blower to an IH 56 or one of the repainted brand ones(Badger, I think Case IH) they could unload faster and run it with 1/3 the power that NH uses. Save on some fuel.
Too bad the tractors are repower, but at least they are still running and working! Beats sending them to the yard. It's funny in a way, used to see these ads in magazines where a farm would be all one color, none of that existed where I grew up. This one could have made it!

    Mike,
This video is soooooo cool. Great equipment. Thank you for all the effort and thank you for the generous amount of video footage.
I don’t know, but it seems to me that if a farm has the manpower, the pull type forage choppers avoid a huge expense that modern forage harvesters require. Using normal 6 cylinder tractor engines to get the job done is more appealing to me than the huge 600 to 1100 horsepower V12 engines used in todays forage harvesters. Annual maintenance cost should be much less on the pull type.

As much as I love watching corn forage videos, and wished I had a chance to chop corn myself, you could not ever get me to climb up a vertical silo. To me, those steel silo ladders incorporated into the silo wall is not safe. I mean one wrong slip and its bye bye. I mean I love vertical silos and admired them for 50 years now. One would think that after all these decades someone would have devised a much safer silo ladder. I keep thinking that some type of enclosed elevator would do the trick--a bit like an elevator in a high rise hotel. I know, yes my idea sounds freaky, but human life always comes first. At any rate , i enjoyed the video and Merry Christmas.

OSHA would never permit any type of vertical silo, whether top or bottom unload. I always hated climbing the outside ladder - rusty thin galvanized steel connected by rusty bolts/nuts into staves that suffered from decades of juicing. Neighbor used to wiggle under hundreds of tons of haylege in blue glass lined harvestors. I went & bought a bagger. I’m not that brave anymore.
