It prevents someone from slowly sliding the door open from the top with their fingers and snatching some goods, downside you need to bend over each time to pick up and put the pole back in.

the trapping of the odor comes from the card board it naturally absorbs moisture and scents and it also has a funky smell from its travels before getting to you cardboard boxs and cards tend to trap a lot of smells from the air. could of been a guy that came in to the shop a month ago smelling like cheese + balls well that now is apart of your shop lol just how it is.
It's a shame too, because Dragonball Z was an awesome CCG back in the early 2000s. I fondly remember playing in tournaments and trying to deck myself to get all the dragonballs in my namekian deck. It never worked.
I noticed the same thing; sorta missing the sleek look of long straight shelves from one end of the store to the other. Hopefully the addition of product on the shelves will mask the warping.
I totally support the notion to play Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin 24/7. Most card shops are awkwardly quiet on weekdays, so the music would be a nice bonus for customers. Not to mention if you add classy music, it would really enhance the atmosphere and give off a vibe of higher quality all around.

Rudy, I used to own a card shop and a big discussion I heard amongst my dwellers was whether or not a store allowed customer-to-customer cash exchanges in the store. They mentioned many shops in the SoCal area were split on their trade/buy/sell rules inside of the place of business. The lesson I personally gathered from all that was the customer will be driven out of the store just because of the stores rules. Therefor let them make some money doing deals in the shop, then keep them in there to spend it and give it back to you. I understand the volume of the store's merchandise will dramatically influence this decision, you don't want Timmy selling all his stolen desirable cards for $2 less then you, in front of a case full of them. Would love for you to shine some light and your opinion on this. Have a great one bud! - Nick
to everyone talking about the warped plastic shelves. once product is on them they will flatten and you won't notice it. plastic is pretty malleable and it will be fine once loaded
Whats your measurement of the slatwall from the floor up? Are you starting it out at 4ft? Also where do you go to get your slatwall and your showcases, I am interested for when I start to open my shop up. Also, those tables behind your showcase, are they are going to be permanent and what size are they? Thanks rudy
MEP Engineer here chiming in. I am unfamiliar with your local laws and I could not your ceiling well enough to know if there are sprinkler heads(it doesnt look like you have any). That would mean storing stuff that close to the ceiling is not recommended, especially over a return grille. Store is looking great!
I've wanted a Gaea's Cradle since I first got into magic. I was a broke college student and they costed 120 bucks. Now that I could spend 120 the Legendary Rule change pumped up the price to 250 and I just can't trust that I'm gonna get a real Cradle.
Rudy, if you got room to turn your black displays in front of the counter 90 degrees, you get a better view of what's going on a the playing tables, which you might want.
If you ever do this again, look into metal re-enforced slat-wall, I run 12 stores and we used to use your style and over time they get broken by the brackets. Now we only use the ones lined with metal and no further issues. Nice looking store tho!

those are the kind of chairs that always break along the sides where the plastic meets the metal framework towards the front of the tushie section.
