Watched from India....Thanks for explaining in practical manner ..I don't know why our school don't teach in that way all they want to only learn and pass the exam...Big Thanks to Dr Keith ....
@@abhijithshaju8963 In india every one wants to be a part of upper hierarchy, doesn't matter through which field they go, if teachers like this Sir, use similar funny methods, growing children would not be attracted to imbecile bollywood, 'holy sacred' male female gap, etc.
Haha no man I am definitely not going to use those boring pattern of using lecture method...... Trends these days are now changing and more cool 😎 teachers in India are now evolving...
Why? Because not all students are like this. It is extremely frustrating, being a teacher, and trying to do things like this with kids that just don't care and want to do nothing but socialize and goof off (middle schoolers)
This is a wonderful and fun demonstration. I've used the slinky, but this demonstrates the shearing effect on fluids so well. I brought my 8th graders to the wrestling room (padded), and did this. They LOVED it. Thank you so much for sharing this!
I have been doing a similar demonstration with my 8th graders for years. We just bump shoulders to pass the P-waves, but other than that, it's the same! Thanks for posting this. I was sad I wouldn't be able to this particular demo this year, what with virtual learning and social distancing. Now I can show them this. Thank you so much!
Great visualization of this difficult topic. When you do not have a visual of this concept it is hard to wrap your head around it. This was a lifesaver! Thanks so much!
Gerald -- S waves are body waves in which the motion is perpendicular to the direction of wave propagation. Don't think in terms of up and down or side to side as much as perpendicular. Think of the difference between snapping a rope (s wave) and sending a compression wave down a slinky (p wave).
Whenever I have to revise the concepts of seismic waves...I simply watch this one video! Brilliantly explained...watched it multiple times.. Thanks Doc! Love from India.
Splendid example for understanding the whole process of earthquake and kinds of waves so easily... I liked the way the teacher explained. Great help... Gratitude!! 🙂
This is great. Without explaining the different body waves on the atomic level specifically the presence or lack of atomic bonds, S waves inability to perpetuate through liquids does not make sense. Love it.
I used this demonstration to help my 8th graders understand the difference between S and P waves. Thanks a lot, it helped them better grasp the concept.
who come here after amit sengupta sir's recommendation?
Me !!!!!!
@@kisoredamelodies5670 me
Haha same

I'M
im here thanks to Amit, also thank ou dr.
u mean amit sengupta ?
Same here
Same
Same👍
All the same here
P wave(through solid) - 2:55
S wave(through solid) - 4:44
P wave(through liquid/gas) - 6:26
S wave(through liquid/gas) - 7:56
Ashish Bisht, Thanks
Noobs
F wave (through..) 3:00
S wave (through liquid/gas) should be zero...
S-waves can only travel solid u see the demonstration it cannot send the energy..

Yeah bro...our schools are only worried about the results they dont care if we understood the topic or nit
Because in india need marks not understanding
He is a professor and not a metric school teacher 🙄

I like the fact how this is still helpful even after 9-10 years.
We need cool teachers like you sir!!
hahahahaha i loved whenn the teacher hit the last guy, hilarious, great teacher, why can't teachers be like this?
Some of them are! I'm studying in Brazil (UFRGS) and my teacher explained it to me the exact same way!
hahaha

Exactly... Only if our teachers were this cooperative
@@marcobonifacioschuldes9833 really??
i really like this method to tell about seismic waves.....nice...

Teaching is really an art, and not all teachers are artists. Thanks!

Finally got the concept. Wow what a demonstration. Thanks sir.

what about the surface waves like love waves and rayleigh waves?
The most helpful 9 minute video I have ever seen.. thank you so much! Love from PH ..
I am here because of Amit sen gupta sir, I they recommend it for good understanding about earth quake.
Thank you sir, I I got a clear understanding.
I actually understood the P and S waves, through your demonstrations. I thought I wouldn't intially. You are a good teacher
Amazing explanation, thank you from the bottom of my heart Prof. Keith Miller
I was confused about this for a long time. what a great way of teaching. Awesome!
So thankful to you Professor. This is absolutely amazing demonstration 🌻
This kind of explanations are needed for every concept..I think I will never forget this concept in my whole life
wish i had a teacher like him, all my doubts are clear thanks Dr.Keith
Great demonstration sir! Finally i can use this one so that my class can better understand the s and the p waves
Great demonstration! Im using it at classes and the kids love it! Thanks!

I can not thank you enough! I learn better visually and after reading so much, this has helped so much more.
great representation! and a fun way of teaching also. Thanks!
Thank you professor for giving good concept about seismic waves.🙏
Great demonstration, now in my whole life I can't forget P and S wave. Thanks Miller Sahab
This is the way that should be used in teaching.
Thanks for amazing video professor.
Thank you Mr. Miller.
This demo was very helpful.
Thank you for demonstrating P & S waves in such a direct way. I'm going to try this among kids in a popular science class, hope it work well.
This was very helpful, I am a visual learner as well as hands on and this helped me a lot. Thank you.
I will definitely use this to explain to my students. Thank you ever so much for this wonderful explanation
Excellent 👍
Watching from India
Cleared the concept so well...thanks Dr Keith
Anyone can clear their doubt related to P&S wave after watching this video...! Excellent sir👏
excellent explanation
SUPER helpful. Thank you so much for this demonstration!!
the endevour by which sir taught is fantastic. . . practical enough
It shows how we can learn effectively by way of visually stimulating our brain for such complex concepts.
A great video indeed!
I finally figured out that why S wave does not pass through liquid.....mind blowing demonstration sir👏👏😇😇
This guy is clearly a great teacher. Well done.
Very calm and brilliant teacher... Many thanks to the students who took their tasks so well... Av learnt a lot
Thank you Dr. Keith Miller this is so helpful for my presentation thank you so much
Absolutely brilliant explanation!
wow, amazing demonstration.thank you sir
Thank you Amit for suggesting a wonderful explanation. This helps us a lot.🙏
This was a wonderful and fun demonstration. This visual learner says thanks!
Thanks Dr. Keith. Your demonstration helped my son Karthik studying in 7 th grade understand the waves better
It makes my concept clear, Thank you Sir.
The best explanation of seismic waves I have ever seen total hands down
Thank You Anit for recommending this valuable stuff🙏
Much obliged to keith sir for practical demostration it was fun and knowledgeable
Awesome representation 👍👍👍
Thank you sir for making my concept very clear about seismic wave.
This is an amazing illustration - Thanks a lot
I really enjoy this video a lot. I think you should do more like this. You are amazing as a techer. Gos bless you a lot.
Hero, I understand it finally!
Best Demonstration. Thanks Prof.
thanks sir. very interesting way to learn the seismic waves.
Great Demonstration and explanation.
Professor, you did a very didactic class. Congratulations!
Best explanation about seismic waves propagation ever!
I am in 8th std but still can understand it perfectly.Thank you so much for making it so easy😊
damn keith, your jump and push got me laughing.
Its amazingly awesome and so much easy to understand...truly reflects your passion for physics...its fun to learn from teachers like u..thanks alot
It will really help me a lot for the discussion tomorrow. thank you!
Thank you Mr. Miller.
This demo was very helpful.

Outstanding sir
This is better than the demo I was doing. I am going to incorporate some of your demonstrations into mine. Thanks
I used this demonstration to help my 8th graders understand the difference between S and P waves. Thanks a lot, it helped them better grasp the concept.
