I'm glad she was able to handle a serious issue such as this, most women have no idea how terrifying it is for them to tell us a joke. Last week, my mother, a woman I've known all my life, went as far as to try and tell me a knock-knock joke. Thankfully, I was successfully able to strangle her before having to ask "who's there?".

I'm not exactly sure what her point was. She talked about men being able to kill her with their bare hands and her privilege was telling jokes and how it might be intimidating and jumping out of an alley. What most men would be intimidated by is a woman's ability to lie about being assaulted and being considered guilty till proven innocent. Like Patrice used to say a white woman would see him walking down the road and she'd be thinking please don't let this black guy rape me and he's thinking don't let anything happen to this white girl or I'm going to get blamed.

I remember watching Married with Children as a kid, and always finding it so funny that Al was basically disgusted by Peggy physically, and they always fought over money, but they had almost the exact same sense of humor. There'd be episodes where one of them would do something awful, and the other would find it hilarious, and they'd cackle their way to the credits. And I found it so endearing, which is why none of my relationships work. Turns out that's not a good marriage to use as frame of reference.

    • @speedingAtI94

It is still an idealized world where a man like Al can be just like what a man typically does while a woman like Peg would take it. In reality, a woman like Peg will kick Al out within 3 days for being a loser salesman. It would never last in reality but it makes a great sitcom.

@@waynerembert3116 no we don't, it's a matter of perspective really but no it might be socially easier nowadays but back in the day anything could get u killed or worse (you know like rape or burning at the stake or be beaten to death so on do I need to say more cause I got more ex) so no it's not easier on us, I get it that men are usually tasked with being the bread winner as they say and that job is hard I know but at the same time we too have to take up this job too by chose or not but the worse think I think that men have it easier is that they have a choice where women othen don't even have a voice let alone a choice and that is what really matters because if u can choose then that is on you, you can do whatever you want even if people won't accept your choice but for women they have no choice its either they do it or just die (or as I have said before we would be basically tortured) I know for a fact that people would bare their on newborn if they are not boys (we were even given the right of living let alone decide what to do with our life) so yes that's why I say that the being given the right to choose is very important because I know if we weren't held back by the fact that we aren't allowed to make our own decisions then I know history would be very different.
Oh and am not saying men don't have it hard cause I know they do and my hear goes out for them but am also saying that for centuries we have been killed for the smallest of things and that we didn't have human rights until recently you know I think it's in the 1900s so yeah I believe that we have had it so much worse I know if I were to go back in time to the past I would be killed before I even liked my first year as a baby let alone like a long life and if I were to be back as I am I would be burned at the stake so yes obviously it's harder on us and even know going out at night is basically a death sentence and basically committing suicide - _-

Scout Dawson - Travel Vlogger depends how far removed you are from feminism. 2 women a week in the UK die from domestic violence. Superficially there is more girl power in the media because feminism has been corporatised but the media still constantly does fetishise male violence and brutality. What the BDSM community will claim is a niche kink is now the mainstay of the pornhub dashboard. Go onto the Instagram of an attractive male influencer and check out the comments from 16 year old girls saying ‘choke me daddy’. Can’t send pics here but I have a pie chart on my phone that shows 45% of heterosexual intimate partner violence that ends in the death of the woman gets laughed out of court as ‘rough sex gone wrong’.

I actually met her once - she was jogging in London very late in the evening wearing a grey hoodie and matching trousers. She almost run into me. I recognized her face and from her expression I guessed that she knew I did recognize her, she smiled and run off. I was surprised that she was much shorter than I thought, but I am over 6ft so that happens a bit.
Not a joke or a funny story, but that exchange of facial emotions that lasted a few seconds at most often gives me a chuckle - a little shock and surprise from almost smashing into each other, than "hang on a minute I know this face" then a great reveal, then her knowing I know, then that cute smile exchange - I am sure one could write a chapter in a book based purely on that :)

There are some of every type. Many people, both male and female, buy into gender roles in a big way. Some men think that being the comic relief in a relationship is part of the man's role and some think that if they're not playing the role they're supposed to then they're being emasculated. The more common version is men being intimidated by women with more professional success than them. Hopefully, over time, the reliance on and adherence to gender roles will reduce and people can just be what they are and be with someone who complements them.
