  • The great skid debate: UHMW, Steel or Aluminum? What if we said the answer is all of them! If you're looking to rock crawl your Jeep, this video is for you.
Factory skids on your Jeep JL/ JT/ JK leave your oil pan and transmission skid exposed and are not ideal long term for rock crawling. A full steel system is heavy, and aluminum doesn't have the best wear/ abrasion resistance. But, combine steel crossmembers, aluminum skids, and a base layer of UHMW, and you have the best combination of materials for slipping and sliding over obstacles on the trail!
This video covers the features of our skid systems, material choice and use, a little bit of product testing in Utah, and a walk through of the skid system installation! We also include a look into how it’s made: the process of laser cutting, CNC forming, and TIG welding that goes into the skid systems we build here in Western Colorado.
Stay tuned for more wrenching and wheeling videos!

After so many months of waiting and then me not finding the time to get my NVMS skids installed for weeks everything came together last weekend. I am super pleased with the skids and the fitment. Now all I need is come time to get out on the trails. It was a long journey but in the end NVMS took care of me and made things right. Enjoy the new shop and thank you for your time.

Appreciate the kind words, and appreciate the business! We have definitely invested in expanding and increasing efficiency since demand for the skids starting picking up -- in the interest of reducing lead times! If you're ever out this way (Grand Valley/Moab area) to wheel let us know or swing by the shop for a tour!

Thanks for checking out our video and the skids! We love having a pair of Jeeps to take out... Got to do some camping and crawling over the weekend with both the JL and her JT. It was just supposed to be camping but the way home required some crawling haha.

Hoping y’all gain some traction with these products before I come off this lease. Well thought out stuff, hoping to see your production increase and cost decrease. This is one of the smartest approaches I’ve seen for armor.

Incredible system! No weight gain and gains 3/4" of ground clearance! + all the protection it gives..
If the price is at $1600 it would have been a perfect add-on to any JL but at $2400 its way to steep!
Love it though and i want to upgrade my 23 JL Rubicon

We have seen prices go on a rollercoaster ride the past 24 months in terms of the raw material: aluminum, steel, even the hardware. It peaked out at about a 365% increase in raw material cost. While we do our best to be competitive on pricing, we can't soak up all of that cost increase without increasing our prices at some point. Appreciate you checking out the video!

How’s the fitment? I’m planning to get this whole kit including exhaust area. I’m hearing some negative feedback on fitment. For 3k+ that’s a lot of dough for something that has to be modified, at least on a 392. I hope not, i really like the design and looks.

    • @NextVentureMotorsports

Good questions! We're always attempting to strike the right balance between a high clearance skid plate with very little room wasted, and a skid system that will allow for a bit of extra wiggle room to accommodate small changes and variances that are seen on mass produced vehicles. We've seen a lot of changes mid year/mid production on the JLU 392s, and issues that we didn't see on our test fit vehicle definitely starting popping up as we saw those changes implemented in later 392s. We have been out searching for the feedback, and listening to it when we've received it directly.... As a result, we've made changes to the engine skids (there are actually 2 now: one for the original Hellcat bolt pattern oil pan/aluminum cast pan, and another for the Standard Hemi style block/stamped style oil pan configuration), as well as the rear exhaust skids getting a redesign in order to increase the amount of room around the 4 tail pipes as we were seeing large variances in how the exhaust is mounted up on the JLU 392s.

Some JT engine skids that mount to the motor mounts have clearance issues with the driveshaft with the stock height suspension. Does your engine skid bracket avoid interfering with the driveshaft on an unlifted JT?

You need to come out with an engine skid plate by itself. I’m sure there’s more like me that don’t need a full belly skid and just need an engine skid plate.

    • @NextVentureMotorsports
      @NextVentureMotorsports  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

It's not a bad idea. The way the engine skid mounts currently relies on the transfer case skid and fuel tank skid to help align the hardware inserts in the transmission skid properly, but we could probably come up with something that corrects that for an engine only skid kit. If you wanted more protection later, you could add the other skids we offer -- but it's probably not going to play well with other manufacturers parts if you were trying to mix and match.

We have watched raw material prices go to approximately 365% of what they were 18 months ago. We are seeing material, consumables, hardware, shipping costs and fuel surcharges for getting it all to the right places rise. Between that and employing folks here in Colorado to keep us building and innovating in the US we price our skids as competitively as possible.

@@NextVentureMotorsports I get it man I’m a union sheet-metal worker I’ve all the same equipment that you’re running there to produce what you’re producing and I know that labor is per hour in California union wages and I know what material costs are. This is an educated comment. But hey if you can get that for it more power to you I’m sure you are you guys are a famous company. It’s like gas less production higher profit.

Everything? The UHMW won't rust, aluminum oxidation actually offers some resistance to further corrosion, and the steel hardware and steel brackets in this video are either painted or zinc plated.
