The Ayanda we wanted is not the one with vocal pyrotechnics but this one who imbued this song with the gravitas of the Zion's church communal revival & ecstatic fellowship. The diversity of approaches & languages, the references to historical sociability of worship & the communal airing of private joys is what brings me back to South African gospel & I am certain the younger generation will revert and revere the older forms of singing as the aping of en vogue approaches, mostly in English, continue to lose their currency and purchase.
